New McCain Ads Promise Government Largesse To Struggling Swing State Industries
The McCain campaign, clearly struggling in its efforts to prevent Obama from owning the economy as his issue, goes up with two spots in economically distressed swing states that promise active government intervention to rescue ailing industries.
Here's the ad in Michigan, promising to help the state's auto industry:
And here's an Ohio version, essentially the same ad but targeted at that state's small businesses and manufacturing sector:
That McCain, a self-professed champion of smaller government and lower spending, is being dragged towards Obama's embrace of government largesse to shore up struggling industries is yet another sign of how much the race has shifted amid the financial crisis.

...but...but...this race was supposed to be about personalities not issues!

trust me once mccain crys sexism and rick davis start claiming that someones playing the race card...americans for the most part will stupidly forget that its about the economy. I actually find it interesting that once the issues started coming up again that obama does well in the polls. I think this shows that when americans pay attention to the issues then Obama is their guy. This would suggest that american know obama is the right guy for the job, yet they chose to make their decision based on personality.

I think that keeping it about the issues is Obama's plan. Just for the reason that you mention here.

I think he had a fund raiser earlier today too. But leaving McCain alone on the stage has only cleared the way for McCain to say one more stupid thing, this time about the SEC and firing Cox. This guy really is looking like Bob Dole the last few days.

"I can be anything and everything Obama is and if you haven't noticed I'm White.... I'm all Obama but even better I ain't black. Vote for me."

DOLE'd!
McCain's going to Tyler Durden himself over trying to appeal to the base while trying to bridge a gap to independents, and while trying to deregulate the economy while saying he's a regulator. And while saying he's for the workers, women and vets while voting against the minimum wage, equal pay, and vet programs. His psyche will split.

Is it "tradition" for running mates to release tax returns and health records or just the top of the ticket?
Palin is stumping about an open government, but she will not release either.

I believe, typically, that both people on the ticket release their records. I will say, though, that Biden has not released his medical records.

Oilbama and Negative campaigning
According to a new study released today. The Wisconsin Advertising Project found that Oilbama, who voted WITh Bush and Cheney in full support of their Big Oil Energy Bill, went negative in 77 percent of his commercials last week while McCain’s were only 56 percent negative.
Once again Oilbama is resorting to his Chicago scumbag political roots.

"Negative" includes criticism of policy stands, which are what the campaign is supposed to be about.
In their tally, they don't have a separate category for "making up sh*t." That would show the difference between the two candidates.

I can't keep it straight. I haven't seen so many changes of justification since Bush started shotgunning reasons why we invaded Iraq - I think he got up to 50-something...
