how about talking about Chairman JSOC agreeing with Obama's assessment of the situation in Afghanistan. At some point people simply have to admit this man has shown excellent judgement in assessing the foreign policy circumstances we face as a nation. Not only has he been right, he's been right before other key players and he's done so even when being ridiculed for it. That's called leadership. It's something in very, very short supply in our government and we need more of it.

Obama once said the way to fight the smears was with the truth. Well the truth is McShame is a dishonorable man running a dishonorable campaign. He needs to start running ads calling McCain's honor into question. Starting today, since they both are taking a moratorium tomorrow.

These ads are outrageous but they are incredibly effective at driving the narrative of the daily news cycle.

Obama should be releasing ads of his own every day and in them he needs to hit McCain hard on the following.

1. McCain/Palin's obstruction in Troopergate - not reform we can believe in

2. Palin's record of tax and spend in Alaskaa

3. We need an ad taunting Palin for not taking questions

4. McCain's failure to even show up for the cvote on the GI Bill

5. McCain's opposition to SCHIP and other programs that provide health care to poor children. (Why is health care not an issue in this campaign?! It should be gold for Obama, especially among centrist women!)

6. John McCain opposed honoring Martin Luther, King, Jr.

These are all low-hanging fruit - why are they being left to rot?

I wonder if this McCain ad is an anticipatory response to the National Enquirer that just came out. It contains sordid allegations about the Palins' two oldest children involving drug addiction and criminal activity. Perhaps the McCain campaign wanted to innoculate themselves with this ad by claiming victim status and frighten everyone into not noticing the nasty stuff.

Palin Fatigue. By plastering her from one end of time to t'other, we are growing tired of Sarah Palin. It's been only a week, culminating in an interview that a. no one expects to be fair; b. is not likley to put ro rest any doubts; and c. will be as much about the interview as her.

Point c. is unique. We didn't have a real pathway to point c. in previous election cycles.

The McCain campaign and the MSM act though this is the only interview she will ever give, letting her be defined almost completely by the press.

At this rate, Palin Fatigue should be setting in beginning now, and really taking off after the interveiew. Shiny objects possess the fatal flaw of having a terribly limited shelf life.

The theory would contend that this was the plan of the MSM all along...

The MSM got burned by the GOP; many do not yet realize it, though Andrew Sullivan sure as shit came around. They would appear to have no self-interest in a McCain presidency.

Suggest Obama campaign riposte with ad on the "real wolves" at Americans' doors: foreclosures, layoffs, management scandals, rising health costs. Good way to shift focus back to middle-class issues & point out irrelevance of 2004 wolf throwback (wasn't there an anti-Kerry wolf ad?) .

I think Michelle Obama needs to come out and shed some Hillary-like tears over that outrageous kindergarten sex-ed ad -- talk about how much it hurt her as a mother of two young women. I think that would flip the umbrage meter 180 degrees.

I think McCain is jumping the shark with all this stuff. When Elizabeth Hasselbeck calls McCain out you know they've overreached.

This is fairly ironic, isn't it? The McCain ad superimposes quotes from Factcheck.org over a picture of Obama saying that attacks on Palin are "misleading" and "completely untrue." The implication is that these attacks have come from Obama and Factcheck.org refuted them.

However, those quotes come from a Factcheck.org posting refuting some of the Internet rumors that have circulated about her. They have nothing to do with anything Obama has said about her.

How sad is it when a campaign can't even use Factcheck.org citations without twisting them?

this all gives me an idea for an ad. Show a pair of parents in a kitchen late nite going over their bills (credit card, college, foreclosure). One of them notices that on the kitchen tv, there is a negative McCain ad on, so they change the station, and they get another negative McCain ad, and after they change the channel a few times with the same crap ads on every channel, they just turn the tv off. Cut to Announcer:

It strikes me that these daily ads are aimed at controling what the media is talking about and not the public.

I might be wrong—Lord knows I can rarely tell how these things will play with other folks—but this ad just didn't strike me as very effective. B team work at best.

The Obama campaign can turn all this victimization around with one simple question:
Why is John McCain hiding behind Sarah Palin? He's hiding his "business as usual-ness" behind her newness, he's hiding his cowardly, personal and untruthful attacks behind the fact that she's a woman and his claims of sexism. Is this big, tough warrior afraid to campaign alone now? Will he bring Sarah Palin with him to the debates? This could be a singular drumbeat of the Obama campaign and is sure to get under the skin of "tough guy" McCain.

I was delighted with the Palin choice from the get go because she is the polar opposite of any progressive thinker. Without question, she is also a moral relativist of the first order.
I was anticipating the loud and forceful sheize slinging, too. There is not a lot of big time scrutiny of such things up north and she was absolutely convinced she could knock 'em dead with same ol' same ol'.

I can't believe John McCain, a man I respect, would intentionally parade out "Black Wolves attacking a White woman". Coupled with the new "Barack Obama, child predator" ad, it's disgusting. John McCain is a man of honor, and not a fear monger willing to do anything to get elected. Even though both of these ads close with the obligatory “I approve this message”, he certainly can’t approve. Would he lose a nation to win an election? I think not. He needs to do the honorable thing and pull the ads. This election needs to be about who is prepared to lead, not about who is prepared to lead us into the gutter of our worst possible ingrained fears and the racist divisions of a generation ago. I have been disheartened by the ridicule and mocking of community service coming out of his campaign, while at the same time Senator McCain’s acceptance speech was calling us all to service. But this, this should not stand. Please, please, Senator McCain - restore my faith in you. Please do the right thing, the honorable thing, and get your campaign back on message.
