Lieberman To Break Vow Not To Attack Obama Tonight
Breaking: Lieberman fibbed!
Tonight at the convention, Joe Lieberman will attack Obama -- even though he expressly promised not to do this last month.
In early August, Lieberman said this about his pending appearance at the GOP convention:
I assure you this, Tom: I'm not gonna to go to that convention -- the Republican convention -- and spend my time attacking Barack Obama. I'm gonna go there really talking about why I support John McCain and why I hope a lot of other independents and Democrats will do that.
Tonight, according to prepared remarks, Lieberman will say:
When others wanted to retreat in defeat from the field of battle, when Barack Obama was voting to cut off funding for our troops on the ground, John McCain had the courage to stand against the tide of public opinion and support the surge and because of that, today, our troops are at last beginning to come home, not in failure, but in honor!"
Late Update: I forgot to mention the best part: Lieberman, according to the advance text, will describe himself as a "Democrat" tonight, and of course, the willingness of a few media stragglers to grant this claim a shred of credibility is the sole reason he's speaking tonight.

You can't spell Lieberman without "lie".

All this rally the base crap is nonsense look at all those empty seats. Where is the rabid base rushing to their Joan of Arc's call? The Republicans are still disciplinned and on message but its all a lousy veneer. Beneath the flags, silly signs, cowboy hats and absence of a certain Veep there is a severe lack of enthusiasm. Hell I bet Paul's convention blew the doors off this snorefest.

He has to go all in with McCain because he knows his political career s over if Obama/Biden win in November.
Matthews has said that Palin is sequestered away writing her convention speech. She'll probably lay the sympathy card, how she's a hockey mom just trying her hardest to make the world better for her kids and grand kids, and while she has made mistakes in the past she made them with good intentions and has learned from them.
Then McCain on Thursday is going to talk extensively about his POW experience.
Also on Thursday Obama will appear on The O'Reilly Factor.

Plain's Jews for Jesus Problem
On Politico there is a story up about how Palin may become a drag on the GOP ticket with Jewish voters. The initial explanation is obvious: Palin's ultra social conservative views on issues such as abortion and creationism. What is more interesting, however, is the fact that in August Palin's church welcomed David Brickner, the founder of Jews for Jesus.
According to the article Palin was in attendance when Brickner described terrorist attacks on Israelis as God's "judgment of unbelief" of Jews who haven't embraced Christianity.
While I am afraid that bringing this issue to the forefront may reignite the Wright controversy, as a Jew I find Palin's association with this Church very troubling.

Here's all every Jew needs to know about Sarah Palin:
When she first ran for mayor of Wasilla, she defeated a three-term incumbent named John Stein.
Stein isn't Jewish -- he was raised a Lutheran -- but that didn't stop Palin from Jew-baiting. According to today's New York Times:
(Emphasis added.)This urgently needs to be spread across South Florida and everywhere else there is a significant Jewish community.

I experienced Donna Brazile's response differently. I thought it was a terrific display of grace and patriotism. Wolf Blitzer seemed to be looking to her to criticize the Republicans' use of images of Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King in their opening video. She declined to be used in that way and, instead, claimed the high ground for both herself and for Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King. Who would have thought that they might be characterized as "unifying figures" for a Republican Convention? I say, "Well done, Donna."

Lieberman is revolting, but above all he conveys a profoundly depressing world-weariness. Time for him to go. He has less sizzle than Strom Thurmond in his final years.

Lieberman must be stripped of committee chairmanships, and booted from the Democratic caucus.
Then for excessive use of the term "my friends" he must be put in the stocks and pelted with rancid mooseburgers.

I will throw a party once this RAT is thrown out of the caucus.

Sorry if I'm repeating anything from upthread...but did LIEberman actually say "God only made one John McCain"? Does he realize both John McCain's elite admiral father and grandfather were also "John McCain"?

Listen, I want Joe Lieberman out of the caucus as much as the next guy, but the Republicans will actively defend him, especially after tonight. They'll disparage the democrats for speaking the truth and Lieberman will be made a martyr. It's best until after the election

Joe is so out of touch of reality, it's difficult to quantify how much he's unaware of.
