Yet Another Republican Pushes China-Cuba Oil Myth -- This Time On The House Floor!

Oh boy. Here's another Republican spreading the lie that China is working with Cuba to drill in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico -- this time coming in the middle of the House GOP's shadow energy session on the abandoned House Floor.

The latest is Rep. Frank Wolf of Virginia, who according to the Politico claimed that Cuba "has given a lease to the Chinese" to drill in the Gulf of Mexico.

In fact, Cuba has not given any such lease to the Chinese, who have kept their drilling activities to the more accessible shoreline areas of Cuba. Leases have been granted to companies from other countries for offshore areas, but no drilling has actually begun.

And with only an estimated 3.6 bbl barrels of sour crude 2 miles down that oil probably isn't ever coming up.

Sometimes I wonder about Politico. Maybe it's just very uneven quality. In this article, there was this sentence: "Rep. Frank R. Wolf (R-Va.) railed about the fact that the Cuban government “has given a lease to the Chinese” to conduct offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico."

They called it a "fact". They could have said assertion, claim, myth, and given how long ago and often this has been debunked, Politico could have said "lie".

Soon, it would be faster to just post the Republicans who do not yak about that off American shore drilling that China is doing. But just remember, those fools are talking all the time now to show the Public they can be counted on to get them more gasoline at lower prices. So much for the purpose driven GOP. Just checked and the gas price here is still nearly 4 bucks a gallon. so just save the light bill in the House and go home you guys. You are wasting electricity. We think all that blabbing is just dumb.

Wow. It's as though these guys take pride in being ignorant. Huh.

The problem is that TPM! despite! their! love! of! breathless! exclamation! can't demonstrate the falsehood of the Republican claim.
TPM can't tell us the details of the current "understandings" between Israel and the US. Or Iraq and the US. Hell, Russia and the US.
But Woo Hoo! Because! TPM! uses! exclamation! points! we! are! to! believe! that! they! have! a! mole! in! the! Cuban! or! Chinese! governments!?
Did Roger Ailes take over TPM when nobody was looking?

And PS time to stop beating up on the Republicans for pushing for more offshore drilling now that Obama has flip flopped on that issue too.
That makes what? four flips this week and it is only Wednesday...

Hussein Obama first makes Fairy Tale a racist slur and now makes his flipflops the only Change You Can Believe In.

Couple problems here but I'll only take the bait on one... When you say "can't demonstrate the falsehood of the Republican claim" you must have meant "I don't believe imagery provided to the MSM by NRO showing that no Chinese owned oil exploration equipment is within Cuban territorial waters".

I don't know which is sadder, Republicans repeating a debunked myth to an empty chamber in Congress, or the fact that "journalists" are covering it.
