Tell Us What You're Seeing...

A quick note to readers: With the general election now in full swing as we head into the fall, we're hoping that you guys will help us with our coverage by tipping us off to what's going on in the presidential race -- and in the Congressional races -- in your states.

We want to know what you are seeing on the ground from the many state operations of both presidential campaigns -- Republican and Democratic. Mailers, ads, surrogate action, weird or revealing coverage in the local papers or on the local TV channels, materials being spread by independent third-party groups -- we want to hear about it all.

If you see anything you think is interesting, shoot us an email at talk@talkingpointsmemo.com.

You can help us make the site more useful, more informative, more fun -- in short, better. And thanks in advance for your help.

Sounds great.

Check out 2 sites that follow the campaign at the state level. Over 3000 local new sources and blogs are aggregated and updated hourly:

I'll post to you from my sites but you will find these very interesting places to gauge the fight on the ground in all 51 states/DC.

great, thanks for those.

Were you a repug troll all along ?

I am not a Republican. I am not a troll.

I'm a formerly-enthusiastic Obama supporter who is disappointed in what his choice of candidate has (failed to) become. I am enraged.

When Obama changes into a candidate who can actually win a general election, I'll gladly place my tongue back on his balls right beside yours.

Temper, temper - Just like your candidate.

Bitter, with a losing spirit -- that attitude will get you far in life.

Consider yourself benched until further notice. We need those who want to win on the field.

IIRR, this guy used to be "concerned" when most posters here called for Obama to attack POW status. Now suddenly, he is all for attack, attack. His ugly, last paragraph in this post shows his true color.

I thought it was funny...to be realistic you should've given Obama Vermont too.

So that's the kind of vision that floats around in Republican opium dreams?

I'm seeing, personally, a massive, targeted voter registration drive here in SW Michigan.

D'oh. My "opium dreams" comment was to be connected to Michael Hussein's douchebaggery.

People are very sick of this election season already here. I keep hearing over and over, particularly in the 40+ crowd about how the extended primaries and then going right into the election is causing them fatigue and they are losing interest. People are getting sick and tired of hearing about the election all day, every day on the news. People in WI and MN are getting fed up. Voter fatigue is a real issue this year, I'm afraid.

Voters need a shot of adrenaline and we need it fast. Also, many are talking about changes to shorten the process so we don't have eternal campaigns in this country.

And no, I'm not talking about a boring August of campaigning. I'm talking about media saturation and two years of campaigning by the major candidates this year.

Personally, I'd like to hear more about this fatigue and is it affecting the numbers?

I live in Madison WI and commute to Milwaukee. I fit in your 40+ demo and I'm not so much fatigued by the race in general as I am by the tone. McGrinch's lie-based advertising strategy (not to mention the 527 ads) gets me to change the channel faster than Linsey Lohan!

I'm seeing nepotism.
Duncan Hunter (CA-52) is ceding his position to his son who is also named Duncan Hunter. Hunter's opponent, Mike Lumpkin seems like a pretty good guy but I am afraid hell is not going to freeze over here in Southern California as it has in other red-to-blue areas, although I would be so very very happy to be wrong.

The voters like the Duncan Hunter brand even if Daddy Hunter is doing crazy things like planning to go to Chad and hunt down a wildebeast and bring it back to feed the hungry populace. Doesn't even matter if wildebeasts don't roam around Chad, the GOPpers like the idea of solving that pesky world hunger problem by one big macho hunting trip.

2 vietnam vets, (I am one, also,) arguing (discussing) about their choices---the thing about McCain changing the Green Bay story to the Pittsburgh steelers was one easily understood---it got reinforcement from the cross in the dirt story---mainly because McCain talked about another soldier having the experience in 2000---he has changed it to himself for 2008. Oil and taxes, and Iraq are hard to sort out-----for veterans, lying about your military experience for votes is easily understood, and extraordinarily offensive.

If you could, please, organize with some of your veteran friends who feel the same way and get the word out wherever and as loud as you can. Thanks.

I've never been in the military, but I've been in other groups made up of humans... Is it true that, despite the brotherhood and comradely that vets feel, they also have known soldiers who've been real cocks? That they can feel empathy for one of their own who fell into enemy hands and was imprisoned for years, but that doesn't mean that he has unquestionable character? Maybe he shows signs of one of those who willing to say or do anything to rise up in the ranks -- even turn on (vote against) his fellow soldiers?

Every veteran (I am one) knows that not everyone who wore a uniform is a hero (I'm not one).

McCain's military career may be sacred to the chickenhawks, but most veterans (of every political stripe) take it for what it is. McCain had a tougher time than many, not as rough as many others.

The more he tries to use his POW experience to glorify himself, the less respect he will have from veterans.

I was on the receiving end of a push poll for Kenny Hulshof, the Republican nominee for governor here in MO. But so far the real polls show Nixon ahead.

I am seeing the clintons doing everything possible to undermine obama's chances in november short of an outright endorsement of mcbush.

Well, here in deep red Texas, I have yet to see a single McCain bumper sticker, yard sign-anything. I have seen quite a few for Obama...

Purely anecdotal I know, and Texas will not go blue, but I'd like to think folks just are not excited by McLame...

I get envelopes from Obama every week?

They go in the garbage. I tie a brick to the reply card and drop it in the mail.

That's what I'm seeing.

I've seen more elect Mike McMahon for Congress lawnsigns for Congress in Staten Island than I ever have for any Democratic candidate ever. The GOP candidate Straniere was on the ferry walking around shaking hands and no one really cared. I shook his hand because I felt bad. Then broke out the Purell. I hear Republicanism is contagious.

Straniere's a persona non grata with the SI GOP. He wasn't even invited to play on the GOP kingmaker Borough Pres. Molinari's politicians team versus the Yankee Old-Timers at the SI Yankees Old Timer day. I'm feeling very confident about gaining the NY-13 seat for the Dems.

oopsie - that should be BP Molinaro above.

GA-8 and GA-12 going back red where they belong, Saxby Chambliss way ahead. The only blue dot left in GA will be Fulton county.
