Ted Stevens To Alaska: Don't You Forget About Me
What do you do if you're a GOP Senator who's held office for 40 years in a deep-red state, but you're now on the verge of losing your seat amid an indictment for public corruption?
You roll out your first ads of the season, reminding the voters of how much you've done for them and how they shouldn't forget you, just as Alaska Senator Ted Stevens' campaign has announced. The ads feature regular Alaskans singing the praises of Uncle Ted:
Stevens is heavily favored to win his Republican primary in two weeks, but then comes the tricky part: The polls all show Stevens losing very badly against Democratic candidate Mark Begich. Dems haven't won a federal election here since 1974, and it will be a very big event if they end up taking Stevens down in the end.
Stevens also has two other ads, which can be viewed here and here.

Maybe if McCain goes up there with Corsi
and calls someone a cunt in public like he did to his wife Stevens would win

Dear Alaskans, I accept the fact that you may not like me because of whatever it was I did wrong, but I think you're crazy to try to replace me. You see me as you want to see me... In the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions. But what I found out today is that I'm a nut...and a criminal...and a basket case...and a princess...and the Incredible Hulk... Does that answer your question?
Sincerely yours,
The Intertubes Club

Stevens and McCain are enemies - I happen to think the timing of this indictment is really suspicious when it looks like Alaska may go Obama, (and still like Stevens).

TED I AM -
Would you, could you build my deck? Oil grant, what the heck! I built them roads, I bring them pork. Why shouldn't I get a silver fork?

Why shouldn't Stevens play the card that proved so successfful for Jo-Jo in 2006? Especially, and unlike Lieberman, he will be his party's nominee.

Merle(Oregon) says: what would it be like if Obama came up to Fairbanks or Anchorage this week? on his way home from Hawai'i?
Merle says: would that be a 'big deal?"
Reika(Alaska) says: YES! Up here this state is run by the oil indrusty and is very Repluican, plus we've got the Ted Stevens thing going on also. Waited on him once also, not very memorable and not a good tipper. Average at best.
Reika says: You think he'd spread all the money he saved on home renavations around.
Reika says: And Veco the company who paid for them I swear one day I rode my bike past their building and it said "Veco" and the next day I rode past and it said "CHEM2Hill" They must have changed the sign overnight.
Reika says: And this all happened about a week after it first started being investigated.
Merle says: What if Obama appeared with Mark Begich?
Reika says: We love Mark Begich. Really a nice man, or at least that what we see of him. Plus he has the Alaskans heart. His father was one of the men to go missing with the Congresdsman in the Alaska Triangle when Mark was just a child. Nick Begitch. btw he's a good tipper also and eats at my job a lot.
Reika is my Alaskan friend that on the wait staff of a 4 Star Alaskan restaurant in Anchorage.

Poor tipping might have meant shitty service, (we have a pretty high standard here in Alaska). Even 4-star restaurants can have shitty service on occasion.
Ted Stevens wrote a personal letter to each of my parents when my brother died last month.
He's a real guy with real roots in Alaska - we happen to prefer flawed people here - they are way more interesting that way.
I'll believe he's corrupt when someone can provide an example where he VOTED DIFFERENTLY based on those gifts/favors.
The ridiculous claim by the MSM that he showed support for a gasline in Alaska leaves out the part where the ENTIRE STATE ELECTED A REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR BECAUSE SHE PROMISED A GASLINE - BY A LANDSLIDE.
Who loves Mark Begich? I don't, I'm a lifelong Alaskan and I think he's an utterly lackluster mayor, following in the footsteps of all the mayors before him. I worked for the City of Anchorage and the real impact on the city comes from the Assembly - not the mayor.
