Spread McCain's Talking Points On The Web -- And Earn Prizes!
This, no doubt, will send you all stampeding over to John McCain's campaign Web site:
Spread John McCain's official talking points around the Web -- and you could win valuable prizes! That, in essence, is the McCain campaign's pitch to supporters to join its new online effort...
People who sign up for McCain's program receive reward points each time they place a favorable comment on one of the listed Web sites (subject to verification by McCain's webmasters). The points can be traded for prizes, such as books autographed by McCain, preferred seating at campaign events, even a ride with the candidate on his bus, known as the Straight Talk Express, according to campaign spokesman Brian Rogers.
See? Who says McCain and the Republicans are trailing Obama and the Dems in online organizing?

Oooooh, it's like skee-ball tickets.

Hmmm. TPM isn't on McFeeble's list of approved blogs. Dunno whether to pretend to be insulted or to think they consider it too risky for any of their supporters (both of them) to read what's posted here.
With that, I'll do my part with a little bit of cut-edit-and-paste:
August 7, 2008 2:31 PM | Reply | Permalink
this is old news, they have been doing this since the democratic primary was over. Couldn't you notice seening as how this website gets a lot of these mccain people posting even though TPM isnt listed, from what I hear, they can still get points for posting on this site. I think its a bad strategy, why would you send republicans to a democratic blog which points out all the wrong things with McCain. If anything these people will be convinced that maybe Obama isnt that bad.

how many people who are either on the fence about the presidential candidates or in obama's camp will be turned to mccain's camp because they read some of his talking points online?
to me, this seems like a silly response to address public opinion.
perhaps there was a discussion in the mccain camp where someone exclaimed: "i'm tired of reading the obama talking points on various websites. it's like those people are coordinating with the campaign to influence public opinion." and this is just a poor response to a manufactured dilemma.

Otherwise known as the McCain 2008 Trolling Pro/AM. It has, in fact, been running since late May - however viewers hoping to get a ringside seat for the Trolling Titans in this event will have to look elsewhere - TPM is not a Points Rich environment as it's still not on the list of approved Liberal Bridges as of my last check.
For anyone actually wondering, it's been as exciting as you might imagine anything involving Senator McCain might be - which is to say you're seeing as much action here, on a non-points site, as you are on the point-rich environs such as the Great Orange Satan who seem to be receiving the lion's share of competitors - which in itself might explain why I've found direct oppo trolling more satisfying that critiques these days ;)

actually, the saddest part of that article to me was this quote ""Our eight votes are going to McCain no matter what he or Barack Obama says," Adams said of the electoral college." from a Kentucky republican. I think that sums up our country's political malaise in a nutshell: folks are so stuck in their own little political worlds that reality can't intervene no matter what anyone does. People make up their minds before the process even starts and then just cherrypick whatever reinforces that opinion rather than approach the process with an open mind and seeing what the facts and reality actually are and then making a decision based upon which candidate has better ideas for that reality. and just fyi, this afflicts BOTH sides. there are many dems would think that it must be false and stupid because a repub said it when the reality is that a good idea can come from anywhere. admittedly fewer good ones seem to be coming from repubs recently...

Here is one of my favorite parts of the WaPo article cited:
(I am assuming that the Obama campaign does not do what McCain is doing.)
I find it funny that McCain has to offer incentives to get people to say nice things about him.
Another implication is that McCain folks are not confident enough of their supporters' abilities to think on their own.
August 7, 2008 12:27 PM | Reply | Permalink

August 7, 2008 4:12 PM | Reply | Permalink
Yep got to drum up some support some sort of way. Of course, sad to say, McCain is so dull that there is just no enthusiasm for him. I was stuck in an area of Phoenix when he was speaking and you should never worry, McCain is bumbling all the time. His handlers just cringe some of the time when he says some off the wall thing. Unfortunately, his ear whisperer was not in town with him during this event so he just mumbled some inane comment, changing the subject.
August 8, 2008 7:01 PM | Reply | Permalink
What a stupid way to use the campaign's human resources. Rather than have your staff run organizing meetings, make phone calls, study maps of neighborhoods, McCain wants to use valuable staff time to check up on what people say they've posted in the blogosphere. (Gotta have accountability, doncha soldier?) If I had donated to the McCain campaign, I'd be ticked. This is going to be an administrative headache. I hope the meltdown is public!

Is there a FAQ for the new system?

I believe that John McCain is right on issue after issue that counts. He is right about fighting global jihad. He's right about winning in Iraq. He's right about keeping government small and taxes low and he's right about the constitutional rights that were put in our constitution by your founding fathers. Barack Obama is one of those liberals who thinks he know what the founders would have written if they were alive today. And I prefer a president like John McCain who believes in the plain words they actually wrote.

Funny, where were you strick constructionalist when the Supreme Court usurped the State of Florida’s rights during the 2000 election? And we only have to refer to the current race to examine just how much John McCain loves and lives by the laws of our land. He won’t even limit his actions to the laws he wrote and passed himself!

In rehab after a sixth month cross-country drug, alcohol, and pancake binge triggered by my depression after John McCain's primary loss. If G.W. had not stolen the primary, gas prices would be $0.25 a gallon; we would have defeated Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, both Koreas and Czechoslovakia; we would have wrested control of Greenland from the Danes and immediately invested in a massive off-shore drilling project in the Arctic (where we would have planted an American flag on the floor of the North Pole). Fortunately, America will make the right decision this time. John McCain '08.

Actually, the SCOTUS prevented the Florida Supreme court from usurping the Florida Legislature...upon which is bestowed the power to select electors for President. It's all right there in the Constitution, whether your a constructionist or not.
August 7, 2008 2:12 PM | Reply | Permalink
The legislature does not supercede the State Supreme court, unless they want to go back and cast a new vote on an issue. The 5 SUPREMES failed to live up to their strict constructionist values, which would naturally have viewed this as a States rights issue and deferred to the State court. It's right there in the AEI handbook.
