Paris Hilton Responds To McCain's Ad
Paris Hilton has posted this Web video, responding to John McCain's "Celeb" ad:

Now, that's hawt.
She also stole Obama's Energy Program, but I guess I can forgive her just this once.

Well first off, I think that it is pretty clear that either Paris is a much better actor than folk have credited her with being or much smarter than people have ever credited her with being. I have always suspected the latter.
Even if this was written for her, the delivery of the policy piece was actually the most fluent part of the whole spiel. Paris is actually better at the politics than playing a dumb blond.
Until a few days ago Obama was still opposed drilling. But he has since shifted. So its not exactly unfair for Paris to describe the situation as she did.
But Obama now has the opportunity to capitalize. Paris is doing a really good and useful job for him here. She is pointing out the fact that McCain is too damn old and too senile to be President. And McCain gave her the opening. He dragged her into this fight and now McCain suddenly discovers that she is much smarter than he is.
So if I was on team Obama right now I would be arguing for him to respond to the substance of her argument. Point out that the critical question is whether we can trust the administration to follow through on the promise to develop long term renewables, energy efficiency, a sustainable plan or whether these are just going to be cover for another round of mega giveaways to companies like Hess.

If Obama responds to Hilton with a substantive argument John McCain comes off looking like an irrelevant old fool. Obama has to do it at just the right time and in just the right way.

So the earliest she can run is 2020.

Your analysis is dead on Hallam.
Paris just proved that the dumb vacuous blonde image is nothing but a marketing tool for her 'celebrity' image.
This chick is smart..just like Reese Witherspoon was in Legally Blonde.
A lot of women will absolutely LOVE this ad..and she hits McCain hard
So much for him trying to 'use' her 'dumb blonde' image.

Completely, this is probably going to go down as the most devastating video of the campaign.
McCain dragged her into this campaign. Whatever he might have been forty years ago, he is a grumpy old man now.
Paris is 24, she is probably wondering what she can do beyond the dumb promiscuous blond image. It takes a lot of intelligence to appear to be that vacuous.
My guess is that she will appear on Jon Stewart to give McCain another belt in a week or two.

Groan. This is probably what McCain wanted. Now this will get coverage for the next few days (as will the original attack ad) and Obama will further be linked to this bimbo, subconsciously or otherwise.

Pretty quick response, too. I imagine they knew the "pivot back to maverick" maneuver was coming at some point.
Not to get too giddy (there will be more bad days, I know), but the image I'm starting to get in my head is the movie chase scene where someone (we'll call him McCain) runs down a dead-end, turns around to go back the other way, and finds his pursuers blocking the way he came.

Yeah. When you try to redefine yourself twice in eight years (maverick -- loyal Bushie -- and baaaaack to maverick!) there are pretty good odds that the second transformation isn't going to work.
I'm glad McCain decided to take the low road. I might have felt slightly sorry for him, if he hadn't resorted to the usual Republican strategy of lying about frivolous bullshit that wouldn't have mattered even if they were telling the truth about it.

Ah yes, after Ludicris the Lawn Jockey in Chief gets even more strongly wedded to a dumb blond slut best known for her pornography.
Woo Hoo!
Win for Team Obabot!
And yes, Piss Hilton has such coattails!
Can't wait for ShowUsYourHole Spears to come out and endorse Hussein!
That the ObaDroids see virtue in pushing the HiltonHusseinBrittany sandwich and further promoting the OnlyCelebrity meme should terrify Hussein Central.
Are the Obabots really that high on breathing the ObaFarts?

That was the only time I have ever laughed with Paris Hilton and not at her. That was a great ad!

I like how mocking Paris Hilton was of McCain -- the wrinkly old white hair dude. Doesn't even bother with the name. LOL. I've heard otehr people call him "that other guy". Too funny.

Looks like Paris on her own has more cajones and guts than the Obama campaign. She is in McCain's face and unapologetic. Good for her! Maybe team Obama will get a clue from her that having a backbone is a good thing.

Do you really want Obama to win, or are you just an asshole who wants to say: "I told you FISA would hurt Obama."
I swear to God, fogu2 offers more intelligence to the discussion than you.

Does being anarrogant asshole come natural to you, or is it something you have work on, on a daily basis?

I love pissing off wingnutz.
Thank you!
And while you think the GOP will win back several Congressional seats in Georgia, rest assured that the Dems will pick up several GOP seats in Ohio that have been trending Dem and are about to come over from the darkside.

Impressive. What grade are you in this year?
Sure I want Obama to win, but failing to point out the truth of how obviously tepid and weak his defenses of himself have generally been is not what will defeat him. Being weak is what will defeat him.
Are you really just a Kook Aid drinker (oh, I'm sorry that's "Kool" Aid) who is so naive and inexperienced in politics that you'll simply defend anything this politician does no matter how hypocritical or cowardly? Do you believe in anything yourself or do you just believe in your new Messiah and so anything he says or does is good?
I'm voting for him of course, but what choice is there? Certainly he's better than McCain, but that's all and the sooner you put on your big boy pants and face it the better off you'll be. Until our elected leaders in Washington have the guts to take on the corporate interests that are actually running the show, very little will change except on the margins. Obama has no intention of doing that. He is completely beholden to the monied interests, particularly Wall Street and the war industries. How on earth would you or any of the others in his minions expect him to display any courage in fighting those people when he barely is defending himself agasint McCain's outrageous lies?
I underestand that your position is Obama right or wrong, but you'll just have to get used to the fact that some people out here are grown ups who actually see Obama for what he is: another self-promoting Democratic politician who is a captive of corporate money first and foremost and we believe he should be treated as the politician he is and not as some sort of sacrosanct Saint. His interest in helping common people is real, but primarily academic and certainly secondary to his number one motivation. That motivation is to advance his own cause just like all the rest of them.
Because he is a captive of corporate money, he listens to the moronic stratgegists in Washington who have previously wrecked both Gore and Kerry's campaigns with the same pussified, wimpy, corporate, centrist twaddle that is the stuff of Obama's flaccid responses not just to McCain's attacks but also to Hillary's attacks for the last two months of the primaries. You think because Obama has a nice marketing strategy he is different somehow. Good luck with that, but you're simply naive and prety obviously easily hoodwinked.
If he actually manages to get elected and you see the wishy-washy results he gets out of Congress and compare that to the bill of goods you've bought perhaps you'll start to get a clue how this game works. But the bottom line is that Paris Hilton's overnight, self-produced little spot is a lot more ballsy and effective than the limp wristed stuff Obama theoretically defends himself with which was the point of my original comment. Maybe he and his oh so clever campaign will get a clue that in they are in for a difficult fight so they better start swinging before the get knocked out.

OK, I apologize for being an asshole by calling you one.
Now to my point of frustration to youtr call for Obama to have more cajones.
I believe you miss the racial tightrope which the GOP wants Obama to fall off of that he has to walk.
They are trying to goad him into becoming the "angry black man," a Jesse Jackson type figure. while hitting hard back makes us feel good, it turns off enough white voters to make a difference.
Don't for a moment think that this isn't part of the McCain strategy. As Eugene Robinson pointed out in his recent column, McCain surrogates like Lindsay Graham are trying to paint Obama with the brush that he is crying racism when he's attacked, and claiming some sort of victimhood. If you don't think that would hurt Obama, you haven't been paying attention to race relations or white voter's attitudes toward race.
I believe if Obama were to go full throttle as you suggest, he would fall into the trap he wants to avoid. He would be painted as "angry," "frustrated," along with every other coded racial stereotype the GOP could conjure up.
His responses to McCain in the past two days have successfully walked this tightrope he will always be on.
The type of campaign you would like to see is the type that John Kerry should have ran in 2004, but didn't. Obama doesn't have that luxury, because of his race.

Here's a sign that the die-hard Hillary fans at Hillaryis44.com have completely lost all sense of reality. This is their description of the Paris Hilton video (Or maybe she made 2 versions of the video? Did I miss something?)...
The ambitious Hilton heiress declared her candidacy after starring in a John McCain video mocking Barack Obama.

Will Smith in Men in Black. "Hey, old guys" came to mind while watching Paris take McAincient out at the groin level.
Using a purely Miss Manners calculation the politeness universe is reaching towards balance. You [John] don't enlist a stranger [Paris] in your fight with another [Barak] without their [Paris's] permission.
McAncient drafted Paris into Barak's Army by using her image without permission. Her response must have been like an eagle flashing invisibly down out of the cloudless sky into a herd of sheep now there is a member of the flock missing. The missing member is McAncient's "seriousness". "Old" isn't serious and experienced. "Old" is cranky and Paris has now created a new "brand" for John. McCrank. McOld. McTooOld. She just placed a bet that maybe covers the John's time as a prisoner of war. He made her make him someone to be laughed at and almost pitied. Oh, Uncle, you've spilled on yourself again! Here have a seat. Rest yourself. You shouldn't let yourself get upset. Have a rest.
McCain's advisors never saw blow back from the "blonde." I guess they never figured she knew how to use a knife. Should have frisked for weapons before involving her in the fight. Ooops.
Once someone starts laughing at your candidacy you are just about toast.
Nice work Paris. Before, you, and your antics, were fluff and a distraction but now I love Paris in the summer, when she sizzles.

Unlike some political candidates we could point at (and laugh).
