Obama Camp To McCain Camp: Um, You Guys Are Fools
On the day that Obama makes history by becoming the first African American to be nominated by a major political party, the McCain campaign launches an attack that also draws on history -- relatively ancient history -- pointing out that ...
... forty years ago today, former Weatherman Bill Ayers was arrested for protesting the activities of the Democratic National Committee.
"For those Democrats who are too young to have a proper appreciation of their party's history," goes the McCain camp's statement, "which likely includes most of Senator Obama's supporters, we direct your attention to a memorable moment in DNC history that shows how the current nominee really is connected to the party's past as much as its future."
Here's the response from the Obama camp, where spirits are high today:

That's a picture of young Barack Obama, seven years old, about the same time that Ayers was arrested.
Gotta say, this was a really bad day for the Repubs to rely on history for an attack as petty as this one.

LOL!

Breaking Focked News!
Our highly trained staff of body-language experts, fluid dynamicists, and sports-medicine faith healers have examined the above photo in excruciating detail. They have concluded with near certainty that the photo was taken immediately after Barack RedPants Obama hit into a double play.
Should we really trust our nation's future to an inexperienced rookie who has not yet demonstrated his ability to lead off?

Maybe they can take some of their image analysts off of Barack's birth certificate for a moment to point out how obviously fake this image is.

LOL! But how can little Barack hit into a double play if he's leading off????

I love it! Obama would do well to find an ad team that can do ridicule. Mockery is what the Republicans deserve.

So when will the GOP let fly with the "red diaper baby" accusations?
Seriously, while I love the response, the Obama campaign seems think logic alone will dictate voters' reactions to McCain's dissembling.
Obama needs to initiate a strong, fact-based line of attack. Otherwise McCain's constant barrage of indictments will give him the advantage of appearing in control by "driving the narrative."
McCain's VP rollout represents a perfect opportunity. Given that legitimate questions exist about McCain's health, Obama should deploy surrogates and 527s to question the old man's mental and physical fitness for high office.
Why did McCain restrict access to his health records when he has been far more forthcoming in the past? Why is McCain so easy to confuse on the campaign trail. Why must McCain depend on cue cards to deliver a coherent message? All of these questions, unlike the Ayers bs, have the added advantage of being perfectly legitimate.

I think the McCain campaign overlooked a much more damning incident that happened 40 years ago today that they could tie to "socialist" Barack Obama...the Soviets invading Czechoslovakia. Quick -- somebody get Senator Obama on the record about his position on that.

I have always had the feeling that based on the stuff we see coming out of the McCain campaign, it seems like they are mostly a bunch of snarky, web-surfing, college Republicans who are more interested in oneupmanship than strategic messaging.
They are probably holed up for long days and nights living on coffee, cigarettes and McDonald's as their ability toward objective thought is swept away inside their own echo chamber.
This latest clumsy attempt is yet another example of them appearing to not really know the business end of the weapon before they brandish it for combat. Being kneejerk contrary and consistently cynical does not mean you have a cogent argument. It means that you do not really know what you are doing in this business.
I have noticed a feint but growing chorus in the MSM exposing their outright lies and obtuse connections in attempting to damage Obama's brand. Let them prattle on. With each piece they put out there, they continue to devalue everything they touch.
