Al Franken Stepping Up Attacks Against GOP Senator

Check out this new ad from Al Franken, going after incumbent GOP Sen. Norm Coleman: It's one of the first Dem ads of this whole cycle to go directly after a Republican incumbent over a story involving political muck. It's also a clear sign that Franken, who's trailing in most polls, knows he needs to really step up the attacks:

"Coleman is being investigated for paying only $600 a month rent to live in a million-dollar D.C. home owned by a Washington insider connected to powerful lobbyists," the announcer says, before hinting at more attacks to come. "And it gets even worse. Stay tuned for more."

Nice. $600 in DC would normally get you a moldy closet. Talk about political favors.

I want more now!

Yes!!! More Drilling. Right here. Right now.

Finally.  I was wondering how long it would take Al to realize that paying income tax to the wrong state(s) meant that he had overpaid them somewhere else.

Nice job.

This is awesome and intriguing

Good on Al - this is a good ad and I love the teaser.

I hope he stomps Coleman, thoroughly and maybe he will with his campaign finding it's groove, finally.

I hope Franken beats Coleman bad. I even sent an op-ed to my local paper in support of Franken.
Coleman is a bad news bear and a disgrace to the memory of Wellstone. Klobuchar needs another Senator to stand with her and fight for the real core values of MN. Giving a hand up to those who are struggling to pay bills, take care of the elderly and buy groceries.

We need Franken.

Good ad until the "stay tuned for more" part, which is seriously cheesy.

Yes and no. The whole thing --- cheap rent --- is a silly campaign issue, but it's exactly the sort of attack Coleman has been making all along. There is more, like the insider Coleman rents from is his good buddy who works for his campaign and a bunch of Republican campaigns, and also lobbies. His lobbying clients include the Burmese junta. I've been hoping someone would ask Coleman why he's buddies with Burma's man in Washington.

Or maybe some of those rumors about Coleman's womanizing panned out.

I'd pay money to see Al Franken in the Senate.
I still keep the debate he had with Bill O'Reilly at the L.A. Book Fair on a loop!

He needled O'Reilly into completly losing it.
Funny stuff! YouTube - Bill O'Reilly Shouts Down Al Franken

coleman is a major slime. His bowling ads are ridiculous. Pawlenty wanted to run for the Senate seat, but Cheney made the phone call for him to step aside and let Norm run instead. So, now we have Gov Doofus and Senator Weasel. I hope McCain chooses Pawlenty for v.p. I live in Pawlenty's state Senate district and it is almost all blue now. Minnesotans are fed up w/ the Republicans. Why didnt Norm investigate the outrageous overspending in Iraq ? He is just a weasel.

Good on Al!

Dead on ad.

More, please.

We just posted ringtone-ready audio from this spot over at Entertonement.
