Whoops! GOPer On McCain's Veep List Struggles To Cite Differences Between McCain And Bush
Oh, man -- this one's really cringe-worthy. You really have to watch this priceless video of South Carolina GOP governor Mark Sanford pulling a homina homina homina when asked by CNN's Wolf Blitzer to cite any differences between McCain and Bush on the economy. The man is totally stumped...
South Carolina's The State newspaper reports this morning that Sanford may have just seen his Veep chances slide down the same drain that claimed Phil "nation of whiners" Gramm the other day.
National reporters are just beginning to notice the gaffe, and expect national Dems to make major hay with this today. For more on this, check out what TPM's Ben Craw had to say over on his great new TPMtv blog.
Late Update: It turns out this already got a ton of attention on Sunday. I was taking a rare day off-line. Apologies.

Please explain to me how national reporters are just now seeing this? This has been all over the "internets" since Sunday afternoon.

I would say Sanford is officially off the "short list".

He may be off the "short list" but he seems to belong on the "short bus."
Not that that is unusual, he is a Republican.

"when asked by CNN's Wolf Blitzer to cite any differences between McCain and Bush on the economy."
I don't think it's fair that Sanford's inability to name things that don't exist should hurt his VP chances.

Greg, thanks for re-highlighting it. I had missed it as well. As we all know, stuff gets lost on weekends, and that was well worth re-claiming.

HEY! Do not mock Sanford . . . I challange everybody here to rattle off three accurate and truthful differences between the Chimp-in-Charge and Senator McCain . . . Let's see:
1. During their hug, McCain grabbed can while Bush43 kept hands above the waist. John = committed & George was already focused on the next dastardly deed.
2. Um.
Uh.
Hmmm.
2.
I got nothing.

To borrow from the Blues Brothers, McCain is the candidate of change for people who like both kinds of music: Country and Western...

There are 7 differences between John McCain and Barack Obama, and 4 clear differences between Barack Obama and President Bush. Ergo, there are 3 differences between Barack Obama and John McCain.
If you don't believe me, just ask Phil Gramm, who was just spotted driving a late-model Volga around recreational Lake Lukomskaye in sunny Minsk Hills.

John McCain has all the stupid policies of Bush but he differs by adding a hearty dose of early onstage alzehiemers and a temper that leads him to call anyone who questions his hairline a "cunt."

Anyone who calls me that in public (or private) is not only not my boyfriend anymore, but I'm gonna cut his allowance and not give him any more spending money to waste in politics, no matter how pathologically ambitious I may be.

This was indeed cringe-worthy, and I was stunned to see Wolf actually do his job.
And this:

NOT CRINGEWORTHY. SNORTINGLY HYSTERICALLY FUNNY.
I don't cringe when I watch a moronic blowhard like this asshole self-destruct. It is simply wonderful.
Destruction to our enemies.
Carthage must be destroyed.

What even funnier is Sanford finally up with NAFTA. NAFTA! McCain is different from Bush on NAFTA!
Blitzer responded with a puzzled look and said McCain and Bush have the same position on NAFTA. To which Sanford promptly agreed.
Hilarious. You can't make this sh*t up.

There is a tape from 1960 where President Eisenhower, asked to name a contribution to his administration from Vice President Nixon (who was running to succeed him) he said that if given a week, "I'll think of something." (see http://www.wdsu.com/news/1448265/detail.html)
Same thing.
