White House: Leaders Should Listen To Public And International Opinion

White House Irony Watch...

The Bush Administration's statement today on its new sanctions against Zimbabwe call into question just how much of a sense of self-awareness they have. Quoting President Bush:

"No regime should ignore the will of its own people and calls from the international community without consequences."

We might point them in the direction of polling data at home -- not to mention international opinion -- showing that people want a timetable to withdraw from Iraq.

Good for them, it only took them 7 1/2 years to realize that.

They have none. Zip. Zilch. Nada.

Do as I say, not as I do....

Either these things prove that there is no god, because if there was, the Bush Repugs would have all been struck dead long ago for being totally immoral; or these things prove that there is a god with one hell of a sense of humor.

There is a God...and he's not in the business of striking down your political opponents just because you don't agree with them.

Sort of flies counter to the the attacks leveled against the Obama ME/Europe trip by McCainCo. as well.

That's only if you are part of the Reality Based Community :)

The fucking nerve of neo-cons.

Vox populi, vox deux.

In the word of Dick Cheney, "So?"

Actually I believe the only words capable of coming out of Dick Cheney's mouth are 'Go Fuck Yourself!' or a hail of bird shot from his gun!

Is anyone else still simply amazed that the vice president actually SHOT someone in the face and it was basically a non-event?

Where'd the hawk go?

I liked that avatar....

Still got it. But after this week every time I think of the campaign I'm reminded of this pic (which always made me laugh) and I figured it's appropriate. Don't worry the hawk will fly again, but as long as mccain is yelling at clouds i'll keep this one up.

these white house hypocrasies have me retreating into my reptilian liberal. mad hysterical laughter and hallucinations where i have a long line of conservatives, miles long, and i have to punch everyone of them in the face. it becomes my job and i learn to like it.

"No regime should ignore the will of its own people and calls from the international community without consequences."

Leave the guy alone. Obviously, he meant "no regime that isn't advanced enough to have a Supreme Court that can overturn the will of its own people and is pathetic enough that it actually cares about the international community."

Considering it wasn't his "regime" when the Supreme court ruled against Gore (who happened to be the "Current Regime" at the time) your argument falls apart completely.

Like the way we ignored the calls from the international community when we went into Iraq?

So?

Satire, said Kaufman, is what closes on Saturday night. But that was before the Republican evolution.
