Report: Al Gore May Host High-Dollar Fundraiser For Obama
In a sign that Al Gore is gearing up to lend a big assist to Barack Obama, reps for Gore are in the midst of talks with the Obama campaign about a planned high-dollar fundraiser for Obama at the Gore home in Tennessee, according to the Nashville Post.
The preliminary plans also call for a more public event in addition to the private big-money one, the paper says. Gore, who is obviously a huge fundraising draw, already hosted one "unity" fundraiser on behalf of the DNC in May, but this would be his first for Obama since he clinched the nomination.
No comment yet from Gore's office.
Late Update: Gore spokesperson Kalee Krider emails to confirm that the Gores will be hosting an event, though the time and place are undecided.

This is great. I appreciate that Gore's trying to be a-political and focus on global warming, but he's highly admired amongst Democrats and he can go a long way towards generating more unity, should he choose to.

Hopefully they'll have a showing of his fantasy film...An inconvient truth (even if I have to fake it).

I'll promise not to post links from RawStory.com and Truthout, if you promise to stop posting drivel like this, mmmkay?
Let's keep the debate up here, in reality-world.
Even if reality has a liberal bias.

I just clicked on it. I wouldn't imagine that this is going to run for very long, would you? I say that because of the "He hasn't been to Iraq in years" line....

Obama is likely enroute to Iraq or Afghanistan now.

If so, then the "hasn't been to Iraq in years" is going to sound a bit out of touch, isn't it?
(Hey, not that I'm complaining...anything that makes McCain look out of touch is A-ok with me).
BTW, go look at Halperin's sophomoric description of this. Bam! Pow! Wow!

That's where I saw it first(what a jackass). I'll be interested to see how Obama responds. I wouldn't respond directly to this piece, but he needs to hit McCain harder in return.

I'm looking forward to hearing about how this represents a problem for Obama.

I sure hope Al Gore can do more for Obama than he did for himself! He didn't even carry his home State when he ran for President. And judging by the Harold Ford race, sentiments haven't changed much in TN. (But they will elect boobs like Fred Thompson and Bill Frist?)

Harrold Ford made a couple of stupid mistakes that lost him that election.
The most important one was confronting Corker at a Corker campaign event. It was seen as both stupid and rude by the electorate and probably cost him the election. It certainly fired up Corkers base and increased their turnout.
The second was at the last debate when asked about Corker's ads he said the people would have to decide refering to the add with the woman saying 'call me'. There was another ad running at the same time that lied about Ford's record in the house and positions on the issues. He missed an oportunity to correct misinformation and apear above the stuff going on about wether the other ad was racist.
Anyone who says he was a briliant campaigner was not watching it localy.

2000 was eons ago in the political world.
2008 Al Gore is more relevant than 2008 Bill Clinton. The whole "Green" thing.
I think Gore's support has more value to the O campaign than BC's does at this point.
