Poll: Obama Performing Better Among Hispanics Than Kerry Did
These new numbers from Gallup really should dispel the media myth that Obama has a problem with Hispanic voters:

Those numbers are holding steady, and Obama is doing significantly better than John Kerry, who only won Hispanics by 53%-44% in 2004. Obama is, however, not performing quite as well among them as Al Gore, who won them by 62%-35% on 2000. At least 10% are still undecided, however, so there's room for improvement.

Too bad the media doesn't actually care about facts, especially when it comes to spreading myths about Obama and "demographic problems" that they want him to have.

Yep. Obama apparently too many problems. White blue collar problem. White women problem. Hispanic problem. Michelle Obama problem. Iraq problem. Muslim problem. Christian problem. Jew problem. Catholic problem.
McCain has no problems.
Go figure.

People need to get ready for Texas to turn blue if this holds.
We're an Hispanic majority state.

That'd be awesome, but the trick is to get Latinos registered and out to the polls. They're a huge portion of the population in Texas, but history says that they just don't vote in proportion to their actual numbers.
In your opinion Tina, what do you think it'll take to turn that around this November?

There's room for improvement - and that's a hell of a lot better than no room at all - just means these numbers can go up.
Yay!

I predict that these numbers will only go up for Obama as his Immigration Policy gets fleshed out against McSame. We all know how the Latino vote inherently reflects a candidate's stance on Immigration issues that affect this demographic. So, yes this is swwwweeeeeeeeeet!!

This is true - LULAC turned out the single largest demonstration in Dallas history two years ago - to protest the Repug immigration stance.
I hope they turn out the vote in Texas and I think they will.

I could never understand how W got as many latino votes as he did, was it just because he could mouth off in broken Spanish (English)?

A: so called "values issues" - Abortion and Gay Marriage.

That are 9 feet tall and in league with the islamo-fascist hordes that are 9 feet tall as well who are lurking across the border in mexico waiting to invade our country and steal our women. That's why we need a 25 foot wall to create fortress america. By the way, the islamo-fascist hordes don't know where canada is so we don't need a wall there, only on the mexican border. Everyone needs to get an automatic assault rifle right away to beat back the hordes. Get with the program.

...as soon as 17,000 Canadians start illegally crossing each day we'll think about a northern fence.

But, I thought the purpose of the fence was primarily to keep out the 9 foot tall islamo-fascists. Are you saying, that isn't the primary purpose. That's news to me.

Do you have a source for your 17,000 number (other than any source related to Tom Tancredo)? That equates to 6,000,000 a year which is higher than other numbers I've seen.

See? Told ya. BO only has problems with certain groups of voters in head-to-head matchups with Hillary Clinton, not with the Republican nominee. The fact that HRC's strength is equivalent to BO's weakness is a giant steaming pile of dookie.

When W ran the first time, he lied about who he is and what he was going to do. He lied his way all the way through that campaign and into the White House.

The story says that "Obama is, however, not performing quite as well among them as Al Gore", but Obama leads by 30 and Gore won by 27.

I like how Latino voters of all ethnicities are lumped into one overarching category. It makes as much sense as lumping together white voters from states as different as Mississippi and Maine.
I would like to see how the Latino voters in the Southwest vote compared to the ones in Florida compared to the ones in California compared to the ones in the Northeast.

You have a valid point, but the reality is that most Hispanic voters self-identify as Democrats.
So - sometimes I guess it's useful to lump a demographic together based on what is known about it.

I am shocked, shocked I tell you. We heard for almost 6 months how big of a problem obama had with hispanic voters. I remember the right-wing media constantly harping on it. I also remember the clinton people claiming that hispanics wouldn't vote for an african american, so we should the clintons should be the nominee. And remeber when the cliintons won pr, it was all over but the shouting about the hispanic community. All was lost if obama was the nominee.
And . . . . . 4 months before the general and obama is just starting to get amped up and he has a huge lead over mucbush. I guess we don't need the clintons as co-vp's, two for the price of one, after all. Darn.

Michael, I wish you would resist to the temptation of mentioning the Clintons in this context...it stokes up my weariness.

Sorry, I gotta stop, but I think I am having clinton withdrawl symptoms. It's as a result of a chronic case of clinton fatigue. The doctor told me it will pass eventually.

Why does this suprise anyone? The GOP has done it's best to fan the flames of racism. The minutemen aren't exactly liberal tree huggers, don't'cha know?
Sure, McSame has been better on immigration than most of the xenophobic GOP, but that is like saying a certain piece of poop is best smelling in an overflowing porta potty. Small praise, that.

And, he has totally backed off of reform in order to win the primary. Now he is for building a 25' high wall to keep families separated and has demonized hispanic immigrants. I am a little surprised that the spread isn't bigger, but it is looking sweet.
