Poll: Obama Far More Popular Among American Jews Than Lieberman Is
The Huffington Post's Sam Stein has a terrific catch:
Among the most high-profile Jews in Congress, Lieberman is viewed far more unfavorably than the presumptive Democratic nominee, according to a new poll. Only 37 percent of Jews view the Connecticut Independent in a favorable light compared to 48 percent who have a negative perception. As for Obama, 60 percent of Jews view him favorably while 34 percent view him unfavorably.
Polling data here. Recall that Lieberman was recently asked about concerns that his attacks on Obama are creating the impression that Obama is anti-Israel. Lieberman replied: "It's my way of thinking that if I've concluded, as I have, that John McCain is best for our country, then why wouldn't I do that?"
The above numbers suggest that it's perfectly probable that Lieberman's support for McCain is actually hurting the Arizona Senator -- among Jews. Boy would we love to see polling on that.

He is even more painful to watch than McCain.

What? This post has been up for 25 minutes already, and the usual TPM trolls haven't shown up to shriek about how an Obama presidency will spell doom for Israel? And how a continuation of Bush/McCain/Lieberman-ism policies will be the only thing preventing a re-run of the Holocaust?
And how polls like this can ONLY evidence that "self-hating Jews" still infest the community?
Well - it's still early.....

As a fellow Yid, I am not at all surprised. On a separate and slightly related note, I just drilled in to the story on TPM's front page about the new bulldozer attack in Jerusalem. Oy Vey to the Reuters story - demonstrating why proper punctuation is soooooo important....

"JERUSALEM, July 22 (Reuters) - A bulldozer driver went on a rampage in Jerusalem on Tuesday, hitting vehicles near a hotel where U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is due to stay later in the day before he was shot dead."
Tisk tisk...

While punctuation is indeed important, proper syntax would have been far more effective in avoiding subject / object confusion.
Thank you for your attention.

Dear American Citizens and the Press
As a concerned citizen, I consider it is my duty to bring following message to you all.
"We the citizens of the United States of America have the ultimate responsibility to elect the " Right Candidate" to lead our nation, out of our huge present and future internal and external challenges as well as opportunities. This is to prevent depression and isolation in-spite of being the only superpower in the world morally, democratically, economically, and militarily.
We need to consider the "critical qualities and characteristics" of our presumptive presidential nominees at the time we vote.
In my personal and professional opinion the critical considerations are as under:
1. Calm, cool, and collected " temper " [ Presidential Temperament ].
2. Sound and sustained "Judgment and Caliber".
3. "Thought-fullness and togetherness" of purpose and positions.
4. Minimum "ex-poser and exploitation" around "Washington and Washington insiders".
5. Renewed " Vigor and Vision " for our Greatgrand Nation.
6. Foreign policy based on " American Values, Virtuous, Vastness".
Stay informed, stay involved, and stay engaged. Do not allow some partisan media, pundits, pollsters, and perpetual political opinion makers effect your vote in the wrong direction.
Don't be effected and duped by "Psychological Terrorism" that is afflicted upon you all the time.
Long live U.S.A and its diverse but democratic people.

I'd be careful about what kinds of conclusions one draws from that data. I suspect that Jewish Democrats who view Lieberman favorably are precisely those most likely to swing to McCain, and that Lieberman is hurting Obama by helping to pick them off.
Keep in mind that the Republican attempt to wedge Democrats on Israel has never been about tapping into a significant pool of voters. With the exception of Florida, they can't gain a whole lot by shifting the Jewish vote from overwhelmingly Democratic to majority Democratic. But they can tap into an important subset of Jewish donors.

These numbers appear to be in line with recent polling done by Pew on Jewish voter preferences, but I don't know anything about the outfit that J-Street retained and am generally skepitcal of polls commissioned by organizations with a specific viewpoint.
