Obama And Hillary Teaming Up For More Fundraisers
The Democratic unity-fest is set to continue this week, with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton teaming up for some big-money fundraising events on Wednesday and Thursday, the Obama campaign has announced.
The two will meet for a Wednesday evening fundraiser in New York City, followed by a Women For Obama breakfast Thursday morning in New York City.
These joint appearance, starting with their event last week in Unity, New Hampshire, and perhaps extending all the way to Election Day, are viewed as crucial steps in lining up Hillary's voters, especially older women, into Obama's column. So expect a lot of media coverage -- and parsing of just how glowing Hillary's praise of Obama is -- when they do these.

i watched a CNN report tonight that said as many big Clinton donors had donated to McCain as have donated to Obama. is there any truth to that?
i take all CNN reports not done by their foreign correspondents with a grain of salt, but given that it involves big Clinton donors and mass idiocy it has a ring of possibility.

If that is true, they should read the above post. What a waste of good money.

No doubt CNN carefully counted all of the (male, white, older, southern) donors. I'm sure they'd want a complete and accurate picture of the situation, after all.

Thanks for the advance warning. Now we can prepare ourselves for derivative banter about "love fests," armchair analyses of every shoulder touch and small talk (when I was in college, btw, this was not what "parse" meant at all), and an avalanche of televised "expert" conversations in which all the participants merely reuse one another's ideas and even phrases. I feel myself getting dumber already.

Of course, if Obama and Hillary get "too" touchy, there's all the black-man white-woman stuff to trot out ... phrased in oh-so-innocent ways that are completely deniable, of course.

As the Ny Times reports today, the Clintons and their rapidly-dwindling cronies are trying to blackmail Obama into strong-arming his supporters to pay off her debt, otherwise she and Bill will be tepid in their support of the Democratic nominee. Really lovely people. And why in the world should Obama supporters write checks to a candidate who made every seedy move in the book--including raising the spectre of her opponent's assassination--while mismanaging a campaign and paying millions to a sick pig like Mark Penn?

I won't give that bitch a dime since she accrued most of that debt by attacking Obama after she had no chance of winning the nomination. Screw her!

I gave again to Obama with a note that every time there is a push for donating to hillary, I am giving him a donation. I want a winner in Novemeber and I'm not helping someone who is still playing a power game with him.

If Obama is asking for money, tell him to ask AT&T and Verizon to be generous since his lie for them out weighted any truth to us.

Obama has been a flip-flop machine since he clinched to nomination. Do you suppose that has anything to do with his fundraising problems?
I guess not. As usual, it's the fault of greedy Hillary.
Your guy is a real uniter, isn't he? If you don't need "the bitch," don't complain that she's not pulling her weight. Let Obama shake down his own donors.

I made three $25 donations to the Obama campaign and bought two T-Shirts (between Jan and May '08). I want nothing to do with retiring Clinton's debt.

Hillary ran up significant debt at a point in the campaign where she didn't even have a realistic long shot chance. That debt financed a very ugly and significantly short-sighted campaign.
One of the things I like about Obama is that he can be decent to the indecent. And the important thing is that he won. So I'm not in the I'd-never-give-Hillary-a-dime camp. I think its very gracious of Obama to make efforts to help her retire the debt she racked up attacking him. That said. When money is tight one makes choices, and as much as I don't have any strong feelings keeping me from giving money to Hillary; neither do I have any feelings which would compel me to give. Interestingly, the only reason she appears in the news these days is because she is appearing with Obama. If I thought giving a few bucks could push her farther into the background, I might just be motivated. The problem is that I doubt I could ever believe this.
