New McCain Radio Ad Attacks Obama Over Hispanic Vote
Looks like John McCain is the first out of the box with a "contrast" ad of sorts. He's going up in the swing states of New Mexico and Nevada with Spanish-language radio spot that goes after Obama by saying:
"It seems to me that the other candidate just discovered the importance of the Hispanic vote."
The ad features Frank Gamboa, John McCain's roommate at the U.S. Naval Academy, claiming that McCain "has stood for our community even in the most difficult of times" and "shares our same conservative values and faith in God."
On McCain's claim about the Hispanic vote, the truth is that Obama has repeatedly talked about how he competed aggressively for -- and won -- those voters when he ran for Senate. The audio and English translation after the jump.
Audio:
Translation of script:
FRANK GAMBOA: My name is Frank Gamboa, a proud Latino who wants the best for America and for our community. My roommate at the U.S. Naval Academy is running for President of the United States and he wants what is best for the Hispanic community too.
His name is John McCain and he has stood for our community even in the most difficult of times.
This is because he shares our same conservative values and faith in God. He knows that family is the focal part of our lives and that we value hard work.
Being from Arizona, John knows this. He has earned the trust of Latinos and has a history of supporting us.
This election, it seems to me that the other candidate has just discovered the importance of the Hispanic vote. So when it comes to our values and understanding Latinos this election, I know for John it's not political; it comes from the heart.
That's why I am voting for John McCain.
JOHN MCCAIN: I'm John McCain and I approve this message.

Gallup:
Hispanic registered voters' support for Barack Obama for president remained consistent and strong in June, with Obama leading John McCain by 59% to 29% among this group.
McCane is wasting money producing commercials targeted at a group that clearly hates him. That is more than teh awesomes.

Hispanics won't forget McCain's rightward step during the primaries. They see now that he'll sell out whenever it comes time to pander to bigots. It's over, Johnny.

From the COLUMNA de AZTLAN:
"So, as he tried to win over the conservative base by shifting his immigration stance, he hurt himself with Latinos who have been stung by the toxic environment created by Republicans’ unbridled anger over immigration.
The candidate who is benefiting from McCain’s Latino dilemma is Obama"

So, Hispanics should vote for McCain because he believes in God and values hard work? Is that really all they could think of to appeal to Hispanic voters?
I can't wait for them to put a giant Virgin Mary static sticker on the back window of the Straight Talk Express.

If he "values hard work" so much why did his path to riches involve marrying a rich, politically well conected cunt, whoops, only John McCain can call her that, I meant a rich, well connected heiress?

I'm trying to look at the bright side of this election; when it is all over McCain will make a lot of money being be the new spokesman for Viagra and probably depends. It will be a dual add and the tagline will be, "Don't take one until you've taken the other off!"

No need to wait. McCain was blessed this morning by some bishop (or maybe it was a cardinal), and I'm sure the picture will find its way into the campaign.

And John promised big time if I made this ad, and frankly, it has been decades since I have really talked to this guy and I haven't a clue what he gives a crap about. Maybe you should ask the Latinos in Arizona who thinks he is an ass.

Whooey! In psychology, we'd call this a bit of projection going on.
It seems to me that the McCain campaign finally took a gander at those Gallup numbers and said "Holy crap!"

Afraid there is not much evident difference, between Presidential Wannabes regarding the economic pestilence, that confronts AMERICA?
Senator Obama already promised he would give the millions of illegal aliens, squatting in this nation AMNESTY? Old McCain will do likewise to get the vote in November. Both parties are heavily pandering to foreign nationals, no matter what the catastrophic TRILLION DOLLAR economic impact to taxpayers. We must pass the SAVE ACT before this happens. Afterwards will BE TOO LATE for overburdened taxpayers, who will be forced to support them. Plus the millions more who will think it's 'open day' from the third world countries poor.
Under the federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088) predatory employers would be arrested, fined and possibly imprisoned and millions of illegal aliens would leave of their OWN ACCORD. It would give (ICE) more funding and build the US border patrol up to 20.000 more agents in strength, build the fence as ORIGINALLY intended. This nationwide law would also begin to remove criminal aliens, 'SANCTUARY STATES' from our society. It would give extra teeth to all immigration laws now on the books. Demand the SAVE ACT! This election, it seems to me that the other candidate has just discovered the importance of the Hispanic vote.
It seems like all of John McCain's attacks involve how Obama is running for President. Public financing, town halls, and now apparently his perceived demeanor towards the Hispanic voting bloc. Could there possibly be a worse election cycle for McCain to be using these process-based attacks? I'm certain that nobody cares about this stuff as much as McCain and his inner circle do.

We love to ridicule McCain in our echo chamber. May be this ad will not convince hispanic voters, but it's good timing. Obama, at the moment, looks like a shifting positions for the GE. So for a far less political engaged mind the McCain argument doesn't seem far fatched.
McCain is proving to a better candidate, and the last two-three weeks he is one in control of the narrative. Obama is just defending and responding- slowly, inconsistently and incoherently- to the GE narrative set by McCain.
McCain is the one leading the argument this GE.

For what it’s worth, the Obama campaign may be taking the Hispanic vote for granted. I have contacted them at least five times trying to get them to correct glaring errors on the Spanish page of their website. My hunch is much of it was written by a heritage-speaker, someone who is of Hispanic heritage that speaks Spanish at home but has never had any formal education in Spanish. I’m referring specifically to items that are part of the template, not necessarily the posts, which seem to have been written by educated speakers. Still, the mistakes are elementary, and I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t want to correct them. For what it’s worth, the McCain page has no such errors. If anyone has any connections with the campaign, put them in contact with me.

It's disgusting to see that this golddigger c-word-calling old white man just considers us a "Latino vote." Hopefully, Obama takes him out to task on this. A race game is something that the Republicans just won't win. They have a track record called Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter, and no matter how you slice it, McCain needs to pander to the crazy Republicans (of which he's one) just as much as much he did to the Christian extremist right.
Latinos aren't stupid enough to buy into McCain's Republican B.S. -(Miami aside).

Nothing will bring down prices today except a tipping point in perception. Getting off and doing something to increase out petroleum supplies would be an improvement. Letting Cuba drill the Gulf is about par for the course. Any speculation in petroleum markets is justified by our record of ignorance in defining a cogent energy policy. And now our U.S presidential candidates Obama and McCain are talking about it, the issues surrounding recent discussions on US offshore drilling for oil has significant impact for all Americans. =http://pollclash.com/]US Offshore Oil Drilling- McCain vs. Obama
