New DNC Web Ad Blasts McCain's Shifting Positions On Iraq
I've just obtained a first look at a new Web ad hitting McCain on Iraq that the Democratic National Committee plans to release later today.
It's a good one. Take a look...
In an ironic touch, the ad, after showing at least half a dozen of McCain's positions on when the troops would come home, concludes that he represents "more of the same on Iraq."

This is another great ad. Love the music...

FABULOUS! I'm glad my last $25 is being put to good use. I wish they'd run it on Faux News!

Seriously. In the last few days of the primaries, Obama was running one/two minute ads. Folks would sit still for the DNC minute and put off their potty break to watch McCain's red line go up and down. Visual excitement!

The thought of this man running for President send chills up my spine... GOD HELP US!!
I would like to see this on on TV instead of just the internet... LOVE IT. Can you imagine what would have happened if this was BO flipflopping...

Exactly. It seems like a great ad to me. Pity that it is only going to run on the internet (where folks will just tune it out) instead of on television, where it could reach a larger audience.

You never know, it could get a lot of play on Hardball and Countdown.
Besides, it is a minute and sixteen seconds long, it would have to be edited down a lot to make it onto tv.

You said it. Why should I give a damn about internet ads? Nobody's going to watch them except the already converted. Why waste money?

Great except for that closing line: More of the same. I get that it's a reference to Bush. But it's a bit of a non sequitur.

The music is outstanding, stumbling beat, minor key, skipping melody, all express McCain's communication failures.

I wish they would have included his statement that we could be ther for 1000 or 10,000 years.

By "web ad", does that mean it's only showing on the DNC page?
This needs to be on television.

DNC doesn't have the money for TV ads. Besides this is probably too "attacky" to put on television at this stage. If they can get it to go viral, they could get a million viewers and probably get free coverage of the ad on the networks.
This is basically a weapon for the internet folx to use when confronted with the ol' "Obama Iraq flip-flop" email or blog. You simply have to email a link of this vid to the sender or leave this link to the blogger and then go on your merry way.
How many people really pay attention to candidate television ads? With youtube vids you have people hunting out the information you are giving and more than likely attentively watching the whole thing. So while television ads might better reach the masses, internet ads certainly have their place in the battle.

The age of video means that all Democrats need to do is show the video records of McCain's inconsistent, contradicting and confused statements in order to expose him for what he is. It's not necessary to use spin, hyperbole or oversimplfying characterizations. If anything, I think the Democratic ads on McCain should be allowed to speak for themselves with only minimal characterization. The graphics and sound of this particular ad were a little too ominous for my personal taste, but the idea of setting the mood with music is a good one as long as it isn't too overdone/obvious.

So. Damn. Perfect.
This is effective in its simplicity, and using his own, short, statements against him, is the best value for time.
The feel-good approach to a lot of Obama's ads, doesn't really create the utter shock generated by hard hitting spots like this. Especially the ones centered around "entitlement" programs - which are generally ones appreciated and used by the very voters who cry foul at them.
Great job, DNC!

First time posting. Let me tell you little about myself. I come from a large family and ALL my family are Republicans, every last one of them... WELL this election, we are voting Democrat :-)

Good on you! Glad to have you on board for this next election!
It's great to see Republicans and Democrats coming together for once to get the best candidate elected.

I hope the RNC makes a similar ad noting Snobama's changing stances on Telescum immunity. It's real easy -- just two points. First he was against it, now he's for it.
Once you abandon the rule of law, there's no point in passing law. I don't care how many "guarantees" are in place with this POS bill. The Congress demonstrated today the Rule of Lawlessness.
Frankly I would have preferred he act as cowardly as the McStain and not showed up for the vote.
To think I had the Audacity to Hope that Snobama would be different.

Oh please for the sake of all that is good, STFU.
Snobama doesn't make anyone think better of you or your supposedly wonderful wit.

If it doesn't matter to McCain how long American soldiers remain in Iraq - even taking his position in the most positive possible way, meaning that he's concerned with loss of life rather than military presence - what does he think about the policy of stop-loss? Aren't there thousands of soldiers who've already served their time at war who'd like to come home that have an extremely powerful case against the continued, indefinite presence in Iraq?
It remains sadly indicative of today's Republicans that, in spite of a constant policy of militarism, they refuse to call on more Americans to serve. Or, of course, to sacrifice in any explicit way.
