Lieberman: "I Am Proud" To Speak At John Hagee Conference
It seems Joe Lieberman just can't get enough of John Hagee. Lieberman took some time tonight to stop in and speak at Hagee's Christians United For Israel conference in Washington, even after John McCain was forced to reject Hagee's support over some rather controversial remarks.
Among Hagee's greatest hits: God brought Hitler to brutalize the Jews and thus spur them back to Israel, the Catholic Church is the Great Whore of the Book of Revelation, and Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment against New Orleans for its tolerance of homosexuality. Plus his overriding fascination is the Apocalypse, and he's constantly urging military strikes against Iran.
The kicker: Lieberman admitted that a whole lot of people told him he shouldn't be speaking there. "The bond that I feel with Pastor Hagee and each and every one of you is much stronger than that, and so I am proud to stand with you tonight," he added.
so has the lieberman political suicide watch started ticking yet?

I wrote to Joe and wow, his crack team responded right away - less than 24hrs. Me thinks perhaps this has been a often found issue - support of Hagee - in his INBOX and thus the standard form response was at the ready.

I believe that Pastor Hagee has made comments that are deeply unacceptable and hurtful.
However, I also believe that a person should be judged on the entire span of his or her life's works.
Pastor Hagee has devoted much of his life to fighting anti-Semitism and building bridges between Christians and Jews. The organization that he has helped build, Christians United for Israel (CUFI), is a vital force in supporting the war against terrorism and defending America's ally, Israel.

I am convinced more than ever that the GOP is planning a bait and switch with McCain. Shortly before the convention McCain will come down with a medical condition that will force him out. He'll give a teary speech at the convention rallying the GOP as best he can to win one for the gipper.
The GOP will choose their new real candidate who will then garner massive media coverage for the final two months as the MSM tries to squeeze a years worth of coverage into two months "to be fair and treat both candidates equally" McCain will have battered up Obama as best he could, whereas the new GOP candidate will be smelling like roses a mere two months before the election.
That's my conspiracy theory. I'm off to bed and will probably regret writing this in the morning.

For whatever reason TPM is missing a HUGE story about McCain's latest gaffe/lie (take your pick) in which he completely mixes up the history of the surge and the anwar awakening (rising up against al Qaeda). The worst part of it is that CBS (Katie Couric interviewer) seems to have been caught red-handed in covering up for McCain by burying the gaffe/lie (take your pick). It has a potential to be media scandal.

One must wonder why old Joe hasn't been involuntarily hospitalized... he's so far in la-la-land! I have to say old Joe and John McSame will make good roommates in the local psychiatric hospital... What is even more amazing is that the McSame crowd is willing to associate itself with the psycho Lieberman crowd... the country has suffered for 8 years under a religious nut in the White House... how could any sane person invite McSame and McLieberman to continue their quixotic quest????

Senator Schmendrake might be an orthodox Jew, while I, by comparison, am more or less of a non-practicing one (for all I know, moose are traife), but I'm going to say this anyway: Lieberman is a traitor to his religion. To consort and praise and endorse an intolerant extremist who believes all Jews are going to hell, who spreads hatred and bigotry, and who promotes injustice is a nothing less than a betrayal.

I can't waste anymore words on Lieberman.
But as for McShame, Frank Rich got it exactly right. He's not making gaffes because he is old. Lots of people older than him are very in tuned with the times. He's making them because he is lazy. He really does not have a firm grasp of the issues and thought he could wing his way to the presidency. Probably thought his base (the media) would just go along for the ride, which to a large extent they have. Anyone who is a US Senator and would say, "I don't have to know how to use a computer, because my wife knows how to use one", is just an idiot! He had to be shamed into learning about 20 century technology? And complaining about not getting press coverage, then the next visual you see is him and Pappy Bush riding in a golf cart,...This guy makes you long for Fred Thompson!
