Group Devoted To Pushing Hillary As Veep Closes Up Shop
In another sign that Hillary's Veep chances are dwindling rapidly, Vote Both, the group devoted to pushing Hillary as Veep, is now officially out of business.
"Because it seems that Senator Obama has made his decision to offer the slot on the ticket to another candidate, we believe that continuing to ask him to pick Hillary is no longer helpful to our party's chances of winning in November," [group leaders] Adam Parkhomenko and Sam Arora wrote in an e-mail they planned to send Thursday to the 40,000-plus supporters who signed onto their online petition.
It's unclear how they know that Obama has already made his decision not to pick her. But it isn't an assertion that many would argue with at this point, especially since Hillary is set to speak on the second night of the convention, historically not the slot reserved for the Veep.

As was mentioned in a previous posting, the fact that HRC is booked to speak at the convention on Tuesday pretty much implies that she will not be the VP choice.

Characterizing Hillary's veep chances as dwindling presumes that they were non-zero to begin with.

Didn't Michelle already veto Hillary as VP? Obama doesn't have enough courage to override his wife's veto.
If Obama is such the hot-ticket why are Rendell, Warner, Webb, Strickland and Reed turning him down?

You are an idiot. "Obama doesn't have enough courage to override his wife's veto." That actually assumed Obama wanted Hillary as VP, which there is no way in hell he ever did. It wasn't Michelle's decision, it was common sense, if you really need it spelled out, here's my list of reasons:
http://www.thepersonalispolitical.com/2008/06/why-no-nightmare-ticket-lets-count.html
Furthermore, perhaps those people just don't want to be VP. Did you think of that? Maybe, for instance, Webb just got to the Senate, he is holding our Senate majority, and it would be a very stupid move to give up his seat? Maybe the other people are happy with their jobs? Maybe they just don't have VP ambitions? Seriously, pull your head out of your ass.

They all have pretty good day jobs. Remember that article from The Hill that asked all 97 Senators whether they'd be interested in being the veep for McCain, Hillary, or Obama? Almost all of them were disinterested.

Thank god the idiocy is over. The other morning they were discussing it on the news and they were all agreeing that the idea of Hillary as VP was a non-starter from the beginning. Yeah, if only they had treated it like that at the time, instead of asking idiotic questions about the "dream ticket" at every possible opportunity.

The American media is about the least self-aware institution in the country. They can turn their opinions on a dime and then swear they always said the same thing.
It's pathetic, really.

I got a fund raising for Obama email from Hillary the other day.
I'm glad the bridges are mended, and I'm glad the idea of a Clinton veep is dying.
She is needed in the senate.

The fact that they've announced when she's speaking but won't announce who the veep seems pretty indicative that she's not veep. It would be pretty funny if she was veep and they were hiding in plain sight like that, but I doubt that's what they're going for here. I'm not sure whether making her speech into a big women's rights event makes it appear more or less likely that the veep is a woman.

It's always refreshing when racist twits forget themselves and confirm to the world that they are so dumb they make life choices based on skin color.
Please keep up the good work!

Surely you're addressing that to the over 90% of blacks who voted for a black and Ludacris who wrote the song.
Or maybe you're just looking in the mirror.

Even if McLame wins, Hillary won't be running against him - she'll be running his veep.
McLame will never make it through a full term if he is elected. He's too fucking old.

Not a chance, Josephcast.
And did you know, just as a point of interest about everyone's fave progressive in Congress - that he voted Yes on both Alito and Roberts?
There isn't a perfect progressive among em. Just so you know.
And I love Russ myself - don't get me wrong. I just don't have any illusions.

Well aware of his votes for Alito et al. Not exactly a highlight, but as far as lows he could've done much worse and it shows bipartisanship (ding, ding).
Only Senator to vote agaisnt the Patriot Act, that pretty much counters EVERYTHING.
Guess we'll see if I'm right, but everything Obama says about VP sends off bells and whistles for me, that it's Russ (and not just b/c I like him).
I think Obama's planned on having Russ for VP for quite a while....

I'd second that.
It's really a shameful thing - considering that we handed them the freest fucking press on earth - and this is what they did with it.
I think the major media are just flat traitors. I really do.

Tena, have you heard about McBushSame and the taxes, he changed his mind again, saying last night that all options are on the table...
I am sure he doesn't speak for his campaign...
Sunday: he said all options are on the table
Monday: I will not higher taxes
Wedneday: he said all options are on the table...
It seems to me that he is really losing it, but of course since the media have decided that he should be elected no matter what, then he can say whatever he wants...
I just hope that the American people are paying attention...

I just watched the re-broadcast of Charlie Rose from last night and he had Tim Kaine on for the hour. While we were walking dogs this A.M., my dad said it was a must-watch (vacation's so nice).
Anyway, the questions Charlie asked and the way he asked them lead me to believe that Kaine will be VP. I was very skeptical of him from his bio, but after listening to him speak to issues like Roe v. Wade, my comfort level increased somewhat.
Kaine's about getting everybody at the table looking for common ground then working toward consensus -- very much in line with Obama. I didn't know this before, but they're both from the same part of Kansas. Kaine's also Harvard law.
Think Hillary will continue ably serving the good people of New York.
