Flashback: McCain Campaign Called U.S. Attorney Scandal "A Combination Of Nonsense And Politics"

Hmmm. Another one where the McCain campaign isn't looking all that prescient?

As you know if you've been reading TPMmuckraker today, which of course you have been, the Bush Justice Department released a report today finding that multiple Bush officials broke the law on the U.S. Attorney Purge.

So it seemed worth recalling what McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt said awhile back about the firings scandal:

Schmidt was untroubled by the firings, telling the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that it was "mostly a combination of nonsense and politics and provides us no concern at all."

Seemed worth recalling, just for old time's sake. We have ongoing coverage of the report over at TPMmuckraker.

I wish the main stream media and tpm would cover the fact that McCain called his wife a cunt in public.

If Obama had done this the media would be all over him like flies on shit.

Neil, you can fill in the blanks after: "I wish the mainstream media would cover the fact that McCain ________" with about 1,000 different phrases and it would still be valid.

Neil, I think it's about time to stop flogging this dead horse. No one's offered any proof other than some hearsay. Sorry, it just aint gonna fly.

That's at the bottom of my list of things I wish the MSM would give honest coverage to. Let's not digress from the blog topic at hand which is...

Just more proof that McCain will really be George W. Bush's third term.

Thats exactly how I think Obama should treat the current lies being spewed from the McCain camp.

Perhaps put together an ad that says the White House has distorted the facts for 8 years in order to push us into war etc etc. Then say that McCain is distorting the facts when it comes to Obama's non-visit to the troops. Then end with America deserves a government that will tell the truth (or something like that). Link them together as liars!

While McCain's statement about h98is wife is despicable, it is nothing new for him. McCain is disgusting in his statements about women. Remember his vile statement about the Clinton's daughter. McCain is a smut mouthed women-hater with no class whatsoever. He would be the humiliation of our country if we ever turn him loose to represent our country. (perish the thought) McCain is simply a dirty minded man who cannot control his tongue, a philanderer where women are concerned and a vindictive man. God save us from such a disgusting person representing our country. He is not to be trusted.

Greg: nice catch here...no MSM will do the work appartently you are doing! Mcfuddle is a ton of contradictions and confusions. Thanks for doing the digg here.

McCain gets schooled by former medical chief at Ramstein.

Jonathan Martin has the story.

Link: Former Ramstein medical chief denounces McCain

My favorite part? The beginning:

"John McCain's new ad is dishonest and shameful, and I say that as the former Chief of Medical Operations.

Yet another story traditional media isn't covering well, or, at all.

"A Combination Of Nonsense And Politics"

Funny, that's how I describe the McCain campaign.

This is totally off-topic, but I can guarantee that the question of whether or not a candidate is "arrogant" has never been raised this often in the history of presidential campaigning, and we're only in July.

Honest to God, the first half-hour Hardball tonight has focused almost solely on Obama's perceived "hubris." According to Howard Fineman, he needs to admit that John McCain was right about the surge.

O. They're back to "uppity" again.

so you need video or it does not fly -
if they had not found video of Hillary
"running and ducking from sniper fire then
that would not have happened either ?

C'mon do a litle homework.

I suppose it depends on how they meant that it was "nonsense and politics" because, in a sense, it was nonsense and politics being peddled at DOJ, which should never occur. It's the Department of JUSTICE.

Actually that report is on the hirings, not the firings. We're still waiting for that report.
