Obama/Hillary Unity Rally Set To Take Place In A Town Called ... "Unity"
The Obama campaign has just announced the details of his planned joint appearance with Hillary this coming Friday -- their first appearance together since Obama clinched -- and it has to be said that the specifics are pretty artful.
They're holding a joint rally in a town that's actually called "Unity, New Hampshire." And that's not all: In "Unity," the Obama campaign says, each candidate received exactly the same number of votes! One hundred and seven apiece, to be exact.
You can't make this stuff up. What was the likelihood of finding a place called "Unity" for a unity event -- let alone one where both candidates pulled exactly the same support?

Oh, come on! Can't you imagine how much press they're going to get out of this? The kind you simply can't afford to buy (well maybe Obama could but I digress . . .)
NH is a swing state; It's been good to McCain in 2000 and 2008.
This might be too cute for us hardened liberals but it will shut out the media sun on McCain for two days! Not that he's had too much of that because he's such a complete bore!

Oh well, a little over the top, but kind of funny.

That is just way to cute. Makes me agree with Timbo212. Barf.

It is starting to look like they may be setting the stage for Senator Clinton to be the VP pick. Why else would they be stressing the tie vote in Unity.
June 23, 2008 1:33 PM | Reply | Permalink
Nah -- I wouldn't read that much into it. This is still to do with repairing the damage done during the primary season.
Now if having Clinton around campaigning for him somehow begins to cause a surge in support for Obama in key states, then perhaps they might think again about it, but I suspect that's not going to happen.

LOL- Obama sure likes the symbolic venues.
It is a bit much but it is good theater.

I really hope they triple-checked the vote tallies here, otherwise the whole event would make them a laughingstock.

If they felt compelled to pull a gag like that they should have staged it in Amityville. At least the off-chance of uninvited demonic attendees might have taken a little hokey out of the shit.

Amityville? Nah, too close to Massapequa (aka Matzoh-Pizza).
The Jewish-Itailian demographics of the area are much more suitable to Lieberman-DaMato than to Obama-Hillary.

Whichever aide, from whichever camp, came up with this idea, needs a serious raise! This is way too cute -- what delicious tongue-in-cheekness!!!!
And if it was an aide from the Clinton camp, then I am almost ready to forgive that &%^# campaign!!!

Yeah, I guess we are a more cynical bunch.
This is probably a good move then, since we are into General mode- us liberals are no longer the target of the Obama campaign. It is the people in the middle who they need to convert.

Yes, it's a bit much. But it's just going to generate that much more press.

Hrmphhhhhhh! Tacky, tacky, tacky!!!!!! Whoever came up with that????? Bah! Silly. And to think we were having sooooooooooooooo much fun with the FISA thing. Unity? 107 votes apiece? who wants a bet that it was the HRC people who came up with it? She does NOTHING to him. Even her women voters have moved on, for Pete's sake.

I grew up in the next town over from Unity, NH (Goshen). It is at least a hour and half drive Northwest of Manchester, NH.
Unity is an extremely small town, as you can guess by looking at those vote totals and basically fits your stereotype of a small New Hampshire town.
Kinda wish I still lived in that area, because I would love to go to this event.

At least they didn't select Intercourse, PA for their appearance. I'm grateful for that.
(My husband and I actually spent 3 days in Intercourse a couple of years ago. Seriously. It's a nice little Amish village.)

McDouche will respond by holding a symbolic event in Freedom, NH now, just watch (the fact that there is a Freedom is almost as sickening as Unity)
Whoever wins should then have an event in Success, NH... an unincorporated Township, population 0, east of Berlin, NH...
NH is full of absurd town names, and they're usually the most backwoods towns available

I grew up in a town that borders Unity, NH (Charlestown, NH, childhood home of Carlton Fisk), and I've driven through it a few times. There is no 'downtown' to speak of, not even a gas station or a general store. Supposedly they were in our school district but I never actually knew anyone from there, My mom still lives in Charlestown, she actually knows folks in Unity. This town is so small, they have a major problem if more than three toilets are flushed at the same time.
