Obama And Hillary Spoke Privately On Sunday Night
Obama campaign spokesperson Bill Burton confirms to me that Obama and Hillary spoke privately on Sunday night -- but those looking to read their conversation for clues to how or whether the race will end tomorrow may be disappointed.
"They did speak," Burton tells me via instant message.
Asked if they had discussed anything relating to post-primary activities, Burton said: "He called to congratulate her on her victory in Puerto Rico, that's it."

This was reported before, it was supposedly a 3 minute call, so he could congratulate her.

What's with asking her BIG DONORS to travel across country to NY so she can make a speech?
Would you spend more money down the drain for a "I concede" speech? I know I wouldn't.
She's got something else up her sleeve - I'm sure of it.

I think it is more like a "sorry you all wasted your money" kind of occasion, not a request for more money, although she probably does want some help paying off her debts.

We can continue to speculate and read the tea leaves, Greg. It's better than working.
My money is on a blue pant suit for tomorrow. And a suspension and endorsement.
Hillary Clinton will change her Superdelegate endorsment in time to be the 2118 delegate for Barack Obama.

Oh, that would be poetic. Unlikely, but poetic.

Geez, Greg. You can't win. You get blasted for posting items on Clinton, and now you're getting blasted for posting an item on Clinton and Obama.
Obama mentioned last night in his speech that he had called Clinton to congratulate her. I don't ever recall him saying anything like that before. Is this the first time he's done that?
And when I heard him say that, I thought "It's over...."

For the record, I've heard them mention speaking the night of primaries before, although I can't point to specifics.
The thing to me is that Obama spoke in the afternoon yesterday from South Dakota, and mentioned that had already spoken. That is not "Last Night"
I think there is a high likelyhood the campaigns spoke, along with the candidates, much later than the public speeches yesterday.
Terry McAuliffe's drunken appearance on MSNBC speaks to an all-nighter.

Well, that depends on what the definition of "night" is.
According to Obama, he had called Hillary prior to his appearance in Mitchell, S.D., which was in the afternoon. Midafternoon! Certainly not night.
So either Burton doesn't know about the nighttime call, is being disingenuous or there was no nighttime call. And, if there was no second call, all the stuff about Hills bowing out is premature. She spoke after Obama yesterday, and she certainly didn't appear to be throwing in any towel.

Mystery may be solved by simply realizing that the PR primary polls closed mid-afternoon eastern time.

"Earlier in the day it was reported that Clinton staffers were being urged by the campaign's finance department "to turn in their outstanding expense receipts by the end of the week," another sign that the run at the White House was nearing an end. In addition, Politico wrote that members of Clinton's advance staff had received calls and emails Sunday night, summoning them to New York City and telling them their roles on the campaign are ending."

What I don't like is --- Obama is reported as having said that HE and HILLARY would be working TOGETHER in NOVEMBER!!!
Does this mean he's decided to offer her the VP slot?
By Nov 4th the General will be OVER. Why would he SAY NOV?

The speculation is either Secretary of DHHS or main Senate sponsor of his heathcare reform bill.
Probably not VP but she'll have the option to join his cabinet along with Edwards (AG?), Richardson (VP?), Biden (Sec of State?), and perhaps Dodd (Labor?). A time of Rivals like Lincoln.

can just imagine the conversation:
BO: Congratulations Hillary...
HRC: Fuck you! I fucking hate you!
BO: Now now, is that really necessary Hillary? We have to start uniting the party...
HRC: Fuck you and fuck unity! I was supposed to be President! Do you think I put up with Bill's bullshit for nothing? All the cheap sluts, the blue dresses, the shame... I'd have killed him in his sleep years ago if he hadn't promised me I could be President. Now I'll never have my chance, Bill won't sleep in the same hemisphere as me anymore and everyone knows I'm a pathological liar. The Presidency was owed me and YOU FUCKED IT UP.
BO: Well, Hillary, the voters wanted change...
HRC: Fuck change! Don't give me that "change" shit. It was all mine, they wanted me, I was inevitable, everyone said so. Then you come along with your honesty, and your intelligence, and your oratory and you fucked it all up!
BO: Well, congratulations on your big win in Puerto Rico Hillary, and have a good night.
HRC: You're black!

Of course they were discussing her dropping out and what happens after, and of course his campaign people are going to deny it.
He's worked to hard to appear civil through this process to have his people do or say anything that might be perceived as "embarrassing" Clinton or her campaign. They're not going to announce her concession before she does.
She will drop out tomorrow or Wednesday, she will not be the Veep.

Bill Clinton tells crowd that this may probably be his last campaign ever of this sort.
That can mean that Hillary does not expect to be the nominee, but the fact that Bill said "ever" could mean that Hillary is not going to run for President again, or it could mean that she just does not want Bill screwing up her future runs, and that she feels that he did more harm than good. He sure did not get any bounce for her in North Carolina, or Puerto Rico after all the time he spent campaigning in both places.
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/politics/2008/06/02/sot.bill.clinton.last.cnn
Pay attention, also, to the very end of the brief video of Bill making the statement, because he says something else very revealing. He pretty much tells the audience that they should only believe half of what he says, because he just says it because he has to go home at night. He actually said that there may be some truth to that.
I did not see any attention being brought to that part of his remarks, and that is the part that is most likely to get him a Bosnian Sniper greeting from Hillary when he meets up with her again.

1) Obama will not deliver on universal health care.
2) Obama does not have the courage and experience necessary to get our troops out of Iraq safely.
3) Obama is racially polarizing.
4) McCain will only serve one term. Obama's vacuous, self-serving brand of "post-partisanship" will neuter the Democratic Party for years to come.
