McCain's Web Site: Golf Gear Forever!

John McCain is standing firm on his controversial platform -- of golf gear for all!

As you may have heard, the McCain camp was subjected to blogospheric ridicule last week over their Web site's tab layout, which for some strange reason included "Golf Gear" alongside headings like "Decision Center" and "Obama & Iraq."

The McCain camp has now revised their site. But did they get rid of the "Golf Gear"? Nope. In this case, it turned out "Obama & Iraq" was the dead wood:

Seems like there could be some "who's the real elitist during a recession" hay to be made here...

Is there a more elitist hobby/sport?

polo, yatch, ...

Yeah, Golf is right in league with those hobby/sports.

Fox hunting, corporate takeovers.

Dang it!

You have *got* to be kidding me....

I wonder if McCain sells ballwashers similar to the ones he used on Bush all these years...

Bwahahahaha!

Good one.

Oh, man! That's funny!

Elitist.

ah, the irony of a one line of 'elitist' while sporting a hand crafted cappichino on your avatar. If you don't get the irony, then you don't deserve not being labled an 'elitist' yourself!

Ummmm, looks like a macchiato to me, and a nice one at that - I used to drink them all the time when I worked as a bike messenger because they were the cheapest thing on the menu, along with Americanos, and you can drink em real fast. Try not to buy into the right wing line that good coffee/espresso is elitist, it does not make sense.

my avatar is meant to be snark, but I guess that's too much for some.

Yeah, really, Morrigan, that's pretty dim.

Elititleist

I dunno, I think he made the right choice here. 60% of Americans think the Iraq War should never have been fought. On the other hand, everyone loves golf, right?

Golf has got to be the world's most boring game, but, hey, it's OK with me if you like it.

Expand your horizons, try archery.

Obviously my snark was too subtle.

And, Archery??!! Another sport for the masses!

If it's good enough for Robin Hood....

I can buy some of this with the money I save from the gas tax holiday! Thank you, John McCain!

Smurfette, you gets it right again. On the money.

John McCain golf gear now being marketed under his
brand name: A-Hole In One.

I'm sure it stayed on his site because McAnus knows how he'll be spending most of his time after this November, and he's hoping for some free stuff in exchange for the promotion.

It's on his site and staying there because he has been broke since last Summer. The golf gear is probably one of his largest fund raisers.

Maybe that Senate seat in Arizona is just bad luck for Presidential aspirants.

FORE get about it! Mclame....imagine if this was your priority for supporting McShameless

John McCain = Judge Smails.

"Gambling is illegal at Bushwood sir, and I never slice."

Loved your theme song for that one.

It's one of my classics, for sure.

Obama should use it on election night, right after the networks call for it him and he shouts, "Hey everybody, we're all gonna get laid!" from the podium.

"Noonan! Noonan!"

I hated Caddyshack 2 (worst sequel ever?), esp. compared to the original, but the old guys asleep in the clubhouse that Chevy Chase kept messing with remind me of your median McCain supporter. This should appeal to that demographic.

Worst sequal ever? What about Highlander 2? Or any of the new Star Wars prequals? Or Las Vegas Vacation?

;)

...or Rocky III?

user-pic

or George W. Bush? :-O

I imagine the commissions he gets from the sales are a key element of his fund raising strategy.

McCain's obviously selling golf gear to separate himself from Bush, who gave up golf to honor the noble sacrifice of the fallen US soldiers in Iraq.

McCain, in contrast, glorifies golf as a worthy pastime for US soldiers during the next 100 years of american occupation in Iraq.

Excellent way for McCain to lock in the all important Country Club Vote. (like there's a snowball's chance they'd vote for Obama -- they'd probably turn him down for membership)

"McCain came out this week with a list of 20 possible running mates. He would not reveal the names of all of them, but he said they all share certain traits, like knowing CPR. He said he wants someone who is ready take over on day two." --Bill Maher

McCain laughs about lobbyists:

McCain makes fun of lobbyist paranoia

Another note from McCain's fundraisers last night that I had to include. At his lobbyist-heavy soiree at 101 Constitution -- home to both Politico's Hill bureau and a few lobby shops -- McCain poked fun at the Scarlet L's being affixed around town these days.

Per the pool report:

“I’m gonna thank some corrupt unscrupulous lobbyists that are destroying America as we speak, everything we stand for and believe in,” McCain said, which got the crowd laughing. “You can’t even eat a piece of apple pie any more without being corrupted.”

Of course, McCain has been partly responsible for this perception as lobbyists-as-evil-doers due to his stringent rules barring them from his campaign. That said, we in the media are also to blame for continuing to be SHOCKED, Casablanca-style, that members of the political class advocate for corporate interests in between working on campaigns.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/

It's time to start scooping out the Republican blogs to see what they say.

Hawking shoddy merchandise on their website? What's next--selling pencils on street corners?

You owe me a new key board....

{still laughing}

Does Grampy McSame even play golf?

The way McCain walks, my guess is that if he does play, he's at least a 40 handicap.

John McCain still refers to going out for dinner as "catching the Early Pterosaur Special".

BWHAHAHA!

George Carlin, Take it Away

Fore a while I was concerned that the Democrats had missed the opportunity to club McCain on his gaffs earlier this year while their nomination race seemed stuck on the back nine. Of course in a stroke of insight I realized that no matter how you slice it, he is a bottomless hole in one gaff after another.

For instance take the puck greens of the backdrop on that rough speech last Tuesday. Maybe a little birdie told him it was a good choice, but that was enough to drive anyone insane. Then again if you believed his bag of lies, you deserved to be carted off to spend you time puttering around an asylum.

hmm . . . the chance to smack a golf ball with "McCain" written all over it . . .

might be priceless . . .

Hey, some cred here for ripping off obama again. Obama's 'urban' gear is selling like hot cakes and he's getting a lot of campaign cash that way. We'll McSame couldn't do exactly that (not a lot of hip people want McCain gear) so go to his strength, the country club set...

user-pic

"McCain Golf" has strange rules - once you put the ball in the hole, you never take it out for 100 years. Also, if you don't like your first Golfing Partner, you can arbitrarily get rid of them, play the field for several holes, then get one that is 15 years younger by the 10th Hole.

Anybody who has ever played at a municipal course knows damn well that golf does not have to be elitist.

Funny, I seem to remember our esteemed president giving up golf so he can be respectful to our troops and war dead. Guess McCain didn't get that e-mail.

Liberal democrats golf too, some of us anyway. We just don't buy golf gear from our politicians.

Even broke and non-elitist liberal democrats--weekday afternoon rates at the muni are great for us dirty hippies.

It's kind of funny - cause Bush quit Golf because of the War.
No little old war is gonna stop mcSame from golfing and selling golf stuff.

user-pic

Good Point! I wonder why McCain hates the troops?

----and along with these choice items is a free tank of oxygen, two tubes of Poligrip, and a walking cane.

----is there any way this man isn't pathetic?

Maybe the know that McShame will be playing a lot of golf after the election.

user-pic

I'm curious.. has anyone ordered one of these golf packs? I would love to know where they're made.

well played ghost boy.

I think some here may have thought it a typo.

some hilarious comments, everybody who's not a concern or apathy troll!

my take on the golf gear is that it's a business run by one of his lobbyist campaign honchos who's merely taking advantage of another McCain 'bidness' opportunity

can anybody find out which one?

Quote from my 7-year-old son:

"John McCain Golf Gear? Now that's just stupid!"

Can't. Stop. Laughing.

A little Caddyshack is needed to counter McCain-

"Be the ball, Barack".

Some nice snark there. :-)

How is it that McCain can say that Obama doesn't relate to working class Americans?

I mean, just who is the elitist here?

My favorite thing about the "Father's Day McCain Golf Pack" is that it "Usually Ships in 2 to 3 Weeks".

So if you still haven't decided what to get Dad...
