John Doolittle Lives!
Just when we thought we'd seen the last of Rep. John Doolittle, the TPMmuckraker All-Star whose associations with Jack Abramoff have forced him into retirement, it turns out he may be set to hit the campaign trail all over again -- and there's a Republican out there who will actually be seen with him!
As it turns out, he's in talks with GOP nominee Tom McClintock's camp to appear together -- a development that could increase the Dems' chances of picking up this red district thanks to Doolittle's high negatives.
McClintock spokesman Stan Devereux told Election Central that the ongoing investigations against Doolittle would not render him a political liability: "Doolittle is still the congressman for the area, has served the district well."
Of course, the source of the problem here is the extent to which Doolittle served Abramoff well.

Jeez, Eric - you're tearing 'em up today, too!
This is an amazing story - this is the best the Repugs can do - a guy who is under indictment.
Sweet Jesus! I never expected the Repugs to get this pathetic but they have!

I would say in about 2 weeks or so, we will see the bounce and I would surmise its around 52 or 53 to 39/40 for mcbush.
12 days and its Obama 45% to McCain's 41%.
So much for your predicted bounce, Michael A.
Better hope for the same type of miracle that Obamagod is promising or you will look like a fool as well as a cult worshipper.
Once again we see Obama supporters living in Delusionville.
And their neighbors are the GOPers who still support Bush and think he's the best president ever.
How ironic.
Obama has his own Doolittle problems - people who are or who associate with scum racists and misogynists.
Hypocrite, first take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly how to remove the splinter from your brother's eye.

Written by someone who wouldn't recognize irony if it approached him slowly from straight on in a well-lit room.

Doolittle is Mormon and in his district there is a large population of Mormons. If the GOP candidate ignored their guy, Doolittle; well, that would not play well.

I know he looks dorky enough to be a Mormon.
I don't hold that against anyone except that a polygamist sect claimed to have gotten government contracts for some kind of assembling electronic parts through a raid in Texas recently and it was through crooked people like Doolittle.
Anyway, polygamy is against the law and taxpayer money is behind their lifestyle apparently because the men couldn't possibly support all those kids and its well documented that they are on welfare.
If this guy doolittle enabled those Mormons with tons of kids to keep that lifestyle, with tax dollars, all the better he's outta there. Thx TPM for digging the muck on his ilk.

I lived in his district for years, he was horrible. He hates the environment, is a McCain mini-mc, and I would be amazed if the leading Democrate running for this race does not win. He was very close last time, and is much better known now and getting more donations. Stupid Sacramento. And anyone who is offended by that, let's talk. The city sucks.

John Doolittle reminds me of another Larry Craig. Just not as much selection in the Sacramento Airport, too small.

Amelie, I'm sorry you don't like our city, but Doolittle does not represent Sacramento. He represents Roseville and Placerville and those parts.

a few from my school met with his office when we were in high school and he was a state legislator back in the late 1980's. when we asked about funding for public schools, we were (i kid you not) yelled at and scolded by his staffer.
back then i liked the Republicans but that was one of the moments that opened my eyes a bit.
