Democratic National Committee Swings Behind Obama, Declares Him Nominee

There's something about the new front page of the Democratic National Committee's Web site that suggests that maybe, just maybe, the DNC is now fully behind Barack Obama as the party's nominee.

Hard to miss the "thank you, Hillary" -- a declaration from Party Central HQ that this is over.

That's what I found priceless. Sooooo much is being said there.

Nice!

I've been hearing Hillary and Co. discussing that she is considering "how" she is going to direct "her" 17+ million voters.

Senator Clinton, I have a news flash for you: They each gave you a single vote in the primary. They didn't give you the permanent right to control all future votes.

Future President Obama has been more than gracious in the face of all your antics, old and new, but it's time for you to find some grace and decency yourself, congratulate our Democratic nominee, and get behind him 100%.

PEACE

This is good stuff. Is there an official statement from the DNC on this?

That's pretty great. "Thank You Hillary" = "kthxbye"

user-pic

I know, that's why I'm rolling on the floor laughing.

Yes indeed, thank you Hillary and don't let the doorknob hit you in the ass on the way out...

Thank You, Hillary. Now go away. Far away.

I think this is wrong. Trust me, I have been just as frustrated with Hillary Clinton, if not moreso, as your average Obama supporter. But I don't think "go away" is the right attitude. She needs to be out there talking to her supporters, convincing them that their votes need to go to Obama, not McCain, and we need to welcome her in that role, should she choose to accept it.

She won't do it though. Obviously. That's why she needs to just go away.

user-pic

Hillary needs a nice long vaca somewhere tropical. You know secluded beach, tropical drink, cabana. No blackberry, no laptop, no Bill. Nov is a little while away, she can jump in soon enough.

Have a great one Hillary. Take is easy. Rest up. We are going to need you soon.

Puerto Rico!!

Wake up people. Hillary is deep in her bunker deciding whether it makes sense to pull a Lieberman.

Should have said:

Thank you Hillary. Please drop the gun.

Liam, I haven't seen you here in a bit. I thought they'd finally aborted you.

Change you can believe in – Obama style
user-pic

Dear, you really ARE stuck on that web site.

If you don't like it: GET OUT, IT'S A FREE COUNTRY!!

user-pic

LOLOLOL!!!

god you are a funny man.

FOR

that was for the wave... TPM gotta do something about this posting system!

user-pic

Look at that pic and compare obama to mcbush. Add in mcbush's oratory skills and Mcbush doesn't have a chance. I see 350 plus in november.

Yep. Keep on keepin' on, 'bots. Keep right on being your nasty, short-sighted, mindless little selves.

At least your Dear Leader is showing some class. You should try it sometime. It'd make you look all grown up and all.

Change you can believe in – Obama style

You, sir, are a racist prick.

You know, there are some things that a man could put in a blog post that might interest the FBI.

Especially since the object of your bigotry is on his way to the Presidency.

Plus, your avatar is having a bad hair day.

if you want a good laugh on McCain, I suggest that you guys watch "TPMtv: McCain Leaves Fox Speechless" on the homepage. Its hilarious.

. Clinton, according to one prominent backer, is scheduled to hold a conference call with top supporters at 4 p.m., in which they are expected to hash out how and when to concede the race to Barack Obama and figure out a way to unify the Democratic Party for the fall.

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2008/06/clinton_to_plot.html

The end of the article really hits the nail on the head:

Democratic strategist Chris Kofinis said on MSNBC this afternoon said that Clinton's refusal so far to formally concede and her supporters trying to strong-arm her on to the ticket is backfiring.

"They've performed the vice presidential race strategy as badly as the presidential race strategy," he said of Clinton and her inner circle.

"It's so heavy-handed that you're putting Senator Obama in a box so he can't choose you....It's just terrible judgment."

budda bing!

user-pic

Did you get in last night? I couldn't even get close. Posted about it here:

http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/06/a-small-tale-of-hope-from-last.php

user-pic

Too bad. At least you had a chance though.

user-pic

Yep. She has gotten the worst advice since the beginning of this campaign. The problem is that she took it and ran with the advice. Thank God she lost. Can you imagine the drama? The horrible campaign through november? Thank God.

Part two of the post-Ohio HRC campaign game plan is practically dead (Part one, being, winning the nomination).

Now, all that is left, is 2012, by further trying to damage Obama's GE chances. Let's not put it past the HRC campaign.

In the meantime, the Democrats are moving on to being all the more unified.

I've been meaning to write this exact point all day. This is just one more example of poor execution of a poor strategy.

OK Folks:

It is now time to close the book on Hillary.

Let us concentrate all our fire power on McCain.

Start with this:

"During his press conference today in Baton Rouge, John McCain declared in strong terms that he's voted for every investigation of Hurricane Katrina.

The only problem, as the DNC has been pointing out to reporters, is he voted twice against Democratic proposals to investigate the levee failures."

Let us keep it simple.

Treat McCain like he would treat his opponent. He did not forget. He flat out lied.

McCain is as big a liar as Hillary was about Tuzla.

Keep pointing out that he is completely untrustworthy. He is a liar. You have the proof. Spread the word. Drive up his negatives. McCain can not be trusted to level with the American people.

What else has he being lying about.

Spread the word. McCain can not be trusted.

user-pic

At Noquarterusa, Larry Johnson's site, they've totally lost their marbles breathlessly awaiting the Michelle Obama tape that supposedly shows her ranting at a RAINBOW/PUSH meeting about killing "whitey". Crazy Larry has promised more but all he has is rumors he's ping ponging with another blogger
to mislead his desperate hold outs. This rant supposedly happened in the midst of Barack's run for senate in 2004 about a month before he made the keynote speech at the Dem convention. In a public forum.

That and they're all hoping Hillary will make an independent run.

user-pic

It's at a RAINBOW/PUSH meeting now? Geez, I can't keep up, last I heard she was supposed to be with Farrakhan at Rev. Wright's church! The urban-legend quality of this supposed video is becoming more apparent every minute.

user-pic

They changed it already. The "Thank You" is gone and they put up a worse picture of Obama. Oh well.

The new picture looks fine. No need to sweat the small things. Time to concentrate on taking down Bush McLiar.

As the real Gotalife. I concede.

This has been a long, hard battle.

My thinking was minimal.

My rhetoric, hateful.

Grammar, atrocious.

But I have lost. Truly, today, I am an absolute loser.

Please ignore ALL POSTS by me from now on, which is the work of unscrupulous imposters.

I shall blog no more, forever.

But just think about what you're missing. You won't have Gotalife to kick around anymore.

user-pic

We always knew you were a loser, gotalife.

It's okay, not everybody can be born with a fully functioning brain.

OH. MAH. GAWD!!!!

gotalife??

ewwwwww!

Clearly an impostor. Gotalife doesn't know any three-syllable words.

user-pic

Yeah, and who would admit to that photo on their avatar? I second the statement EEWWW.

user-pic

clearly the real gotalife. and in respect to our onetime foe's gracious exit, i will in fact ignore any pretenders who may follow. glad you saw the light. vaya con dios.

user-pic

liam McCain may not be lying, he may just be stupid.
But after 8 years of taking your pick between lying and stupid who'd want four more years of that?

Mark8

We must not give him the benefit of the doubt. He is the Republican's pick. He is a willful liar. Let us hammer home that message. If we go into the senior moments type of message it will backfire on us.

Mr. McCain is as sharp as a tack, and he just flat out lied. He can not be trusted. We have the proof. Let us not get sidetracked with making excuses for him. That dilutes our message.

user-pic

As we've found out far too often in the Bush Administration, "lying or stupid" isn't actually an either/or question!

user-pic

Worth 1,000 words. Heh.

The Clinton Campaign is outraged that Hillary's picture is smaller than Obama's. Sexism. Blatant sexism. The Clinton Campaign is insisting that Obama reject and denounce the Democratic National Committee for this sexist and ageist slur. Bill is livid. It only makes Hillary angry. She is not giving up. She will never give up. She will be the President of the United States. Why? Because her 18 million voters haved demanded through an internet poll at HillaryClinton.com that she never give up fighting for the "invisible people" and demanding the nomination that is rightfully hers.

PS: Lanny Davis for Supreme Court!

I just went to the site; and the "Thank you Hillary" part is gone.

She must have told them to take it down.

McCain Myth Buster: John McCain and The Truth

http://democrats.org/a/2008/06/mccain_myth_bus_70.php

Go to the link to ready the entire listings of McCain blatant lies. Now we have him adding to the list today, with his lies about his votes against Katrina bills. McCain is a serial liar. He is too untrustworthy for to be our next President. That is unless you loved all the lies that Bush/Cheney fed you.

Excerpt:

John McCain has worked hard to portray himself as someone who is not your typical politician, but rather a maverick who can admit when he's wrong. Yet last week we saw the lengths he and his campaign will go to cover up misstatements he made about the facts on the ground in Iraq. After inaccurately stating that U.S. troops were "drawn down to pre-surge levels," McCain refused to admit his error and claimed what he said was "just facts." Likewise, his campaign went into Washington spin-mode, organizing a last minute conference call where McCain advisor Randy Scheunemann said that McCain's mistake was an issue of "semantics" and that "[w]e are talking about a verb tense." But no one was buying it. One reporter wrote that "the attempt by the McCain media machine to spin the mistake as a simple matter of 'verb tenses' is an insult to our intelligence." [The Fact Checker, Washington Post, 5/30/08;

I'm surprised Greg's headline didn't read:

Democratic National Committee Swings Behind Obama, Claims He Is The Nominee

Wow, I managed to catch Joan Walsh on Hardball and let me just say, the lady doth not disappoint. Set concern trolling to ludicrous speed and... GO!!!!!!!

user-pic

She's a freaking loon. I used to like her before this campaign. It's always alternate reality time with her. I dvr'd it so I can't wait to see what the bozo has to say now.

details, perchance?

She didn't see anything wrong with Hillary's speech, she thought it was very gracious, and Obama better tell all of us (his supporters) to back off, because we're being "sore winners."

If you just repeat that for five to ten minutes, you'll get the gist of it.

Oh, and you might want to wring your hands the entire time, for the full effect.

user-pic

Oh brother. Typical. Poooooor joanie.

Withdrawal can be tough.

user-pic

Lest we forget, she likes to watch...

Priceless! I love it! Okay, now, feeling better about the Dems. Let's get behind our man now and act like a Party, already!

I don't know why anyone thinks the "Thank You Hillary" logo was taken down: it's still up as of one minute ago:

https://www.democrats.org/page/contribute/joincampaign

user-pic

that page only comes up when you first go to the site. it then forwards you to the home page. probably a cookie thing.

Dr. Dean's in the operating room.

THANK YOU GREG. I would have never seen that. The Thank you Hillary is just priceless. So what is Senator Clinton going to do about conceeding? Just act like she doesn't need to say it? Does she have to? I mean legally.
Surely they couldn't put that up without a consession from Senator Clinton.

user-pic

liam McCain is NOT as sharp as a tack. Other than that I agree with you, why muddy the message? But in reality I think he's too stupid to be president. And it has nothing to do with age. Maybe meds but not age.

What's the significance of the little red star?

If you can't see the "thank you hillary" image, clear your cookies. It's on a splash "make a donation" page that isn't shown if you've already seen it today (or this week or who knows how long).

user-pic

Does anyone remember Elmira from Tiny Toons?

Okay, lady, we love you, bye-bye!

user-pic

Gregory on MSNBC reporting from the NYT that Clinton will suspend her campaign on Friday and endorse Obama.

user-pic

That's today's story. It was yesterdays story, too, remember? Tomorrow it might be, "Shame on you Barack Obama!" She cannot be trusted.

SHA NA NA SAY HEY HEY GOODBYE!!!Nuff said Goatlife!

This is great news for the planet! Wave bye bye, now Hillary. When will you take down your web site? You will be missed, but in a good way.

user-pic

To my fellow Obama-supporters:

We won. No matter how much the Clinton supporters post on here that Obama will lose, or vote McCain, or stay home, or call him names...let's be honest and admit that many of us would feel the same way had Hillary won the nomination. Her winning this thing was a real possibility. And had she been the nominee, we would have wanted to be nasty about it too.

So let them have their say. Barack Obama sets a good example in avoiding nastiness. If some want to lower themselves and stay bitter, let them do it.

We have a McBush who needs an ass kicking.

Exactly, DW. Our focus should be forward.

BTW, is your avatar a National?

Hard to miss the "thank you, Hillary"

Thanks for playing.

No, if Hillary had actually won the nomination by winning pledged delegates running a good campaign, I wouldn't feel the same way. I'd vote for her.

But if she had won by strong-arming the superdelegates (the way she's trying to strong arm her way to the VP slot), THEN I'd consider staying home or voting for McCain - not out of spite, but because the Democratic Party would have sold its soul, IMO, and would benefit from time in the wilderness.

Thank Zeus I didn't have to ponder that choice.

Yes, I think our ongoing hateful diatribes against HRC were based on the fact that we all expected her to nullify Sen. Obama with her trademark treachery & misspeaking of the facts. Now that such tactics have blown up in her face, I feel we did not give our hero enough credit for being able to overcome. He truly has shown he has what it takes with an organization that beat the Clinton Machine BY THE RULES! Did anyone see that piece on Nightline on his campaign headquarters? The wave of the future, it gives me ongoing pride and confidence in today's young people.

P.S. I guess I need a new avatar.
