Breaking From AP: Hillary Will Concede Tonight
The Associated Press lands the big one (presuming, of course, that it's accurate)...
Hillary Rodham Clinton will concede Tuesday night that Barack Obama has the delegates to secure the Democratic nomination, campaign officials said, effectively ending her bid to be the nation's first female president. The former first lady will stop short of formally suspending or ending her race in her speech in New York City. She will pledge to continue to speak out on issues like health care. But for all intents and purposes, the two senior officials said, the campaign is over.
Terry McAuliffe already said as much publicly this morning, asserting that if Obama clinches the magic number, Hillary will concede.
The AP is now reporting that it will happen tonight.
Late Update: Camp Hillary says not so much, she won't concede tonight.

What if Obama doesn't hit the magic number tonight?
The so called "flood" of supers hasn't materialized (yet).
That would be embarrassing.

I'm not buying it. As someone said in the last thread, the Clinton people are NOT to be trusted.

THANK GOD.
I find it weird that she won't formally suspend her campaign, but whatever. As long as I hear some word that could be construed as "Concede" I will be tipping back the bubbly tonight.

Bullshit. I won't believe it until I see it, hear it, read it, and wait a year to see if she flip flops.

Her campaign is already vehemently denying the AP story.
She'll never leave.

Who the heck is her communications director now? It was Wolfson, but he took over for Penn when he was shuffled to the back room.

I think they are denying it so Hillary herself can declare it. Of course, they are going to deny all these rumors up until she does it.
She'll concede, but never suspend (think I got the two mixed up in my last post). She'll wants to keep things open for a worst case scenario for Obama.

"Then again, Clinton has just started speaking here in Yankton--a bad, echoey sound system has her sounding as if she's slightly tipsy...but not less feisty. She's making her usual case that she'd be a stronger candidate than Obama--including the spurious argument that she's "won" the popular vote. Oh well....
Update: The heavy, heavy hand of symbolism...Clinton lost her voice while speaking here in Yankton and had to turn the microphone over to her daughter Chelsea. Happened twice--and I must say that Chelsea handled her duties well, describing her mother's health and energy policies in typical Clintonian detail...Now Hillary's back--and still selling the gas tax holiday. Oy."
Here's a nice pic to go along with that:

the site updates quickly and pic then appears on the right.

It's over whether she concedes or not. Suspend is probably what she will do sometime soon. She has no employees after tonight. Bill said he was done. Who is she gonna have left after tonight? How do you continue a campaign with no campaigners?
It's over in every real sense tonight, unless there is a major upset in Montana or SoDa.
She could likewise get back in if Obama starts to tank this summer and start a floor fight.
I don't see either one happening.
MHO.

What we need to figure out is, what are the legal effects of declaring a "concession" as compared to a "suspension" of a campaign? Hillary has massive debts and probably is allowed by the FEC to continue to raise money to pay off those debts until the formal end of the "primary" season which is not until the end of June. If she "concedes," does she lose the ability to continue paying off her debts? If she only "suspends," does she gain an extra few weeks to pay off debts through joint fundraising with Barack?
Regardless of what Hillary decides to do, the primary election is "done," as Clyburn said. So why are the lame-ass Dems in Congress not declaring their endorsements today?

The only thing she is going to concede is that he may have enough delegates to be the nominee 'right now'. Then she is going to fight for the nomination. Sunday, Harold Ickes said 'SHE WILL BE THE NOMINEE' confidently. She said Sunday, 'let's keep fighting'. She is not going away. She is going to fight for the nomination. In her mind, granted that seems like a very scary place, she has won the popular vote. She has stated that it has never happened before that one candidate won the delegate count and the other the popular vote. But she believes the nomination should go to the candidate who wins the popular vote... even though she hasn't really won the popular vote...that's just a technicality she can work around. She will manipulate public opinion and do everything she can to claim that for herself. This is a mess and I don't know what the party can do except push for a massive endorsement of Senator Obama by both undeclared and as many Clinton superdelegates as possible... and make it clear that they will not be changing their votes nor do they agree with her 'popular vote' claim... It's the only way to end it that I can see.... Suspending this would be like letting her fall back and spend every day whittling away at the pscyhe of each superdelegate only to arrive at the convention and to say 'GOTCHA!'
