Also, cnn.com is streaming live Obama's speech to the Cuban American Coalition (or whatever). The guy who just spoke set Obama up nicely - he repeatedly stated what a mistake it would be to talk to Raul Castro, and that our policy of the last 50 years has been awesome. I'm think Obama gets a pretty chilly reception.

I am glad TPM has stopped being Poll Post Central, but I am a bit disappointed Greg or Eric haven't posted about the SurveyUSA poll showing Obama up by 9 over McCain IN OHIO!
We spent numerous hand-wringing weeks worried about Obama's performance in OH, PA, etc., and speculating about the difficulty of his securing the white working class vote. Now that narrative is looking increasingly bogus as we pivot to a general election campaign against McCain.
A post to tell us it was dubious, at best, to headline every damn poll for months would be in order.

From Politico:
Lanny J. Davis, a [Clinton] friend of 39 years who makes frequent TV and blog appearances on her behalf, tells us he plans to start hitting a “can’t resist” theme.
As in, “Four Things Obama Campaign Couldn't Resist Doing To Anger Clinton Supporters He Needs In General Election If -- If -- He Is Nominee”:
“1.Couldn't resist waiting one day after Sen. Clinton won West Virginia by 41 points to announce John Edwards’ endorsement.
“2. Couldn't resist waiting to clinch majority of all delegates (not just pledged) to do victory lap speech in Iowa the night Hillary won Kentucky by 36 points.
“3. Couldn't resist waiting to clinch majority to announce Jim Johnson as VP search committee head -- the first candidate in my memory ever to do so while his chief opponent still fighting for nomination -- and winning in last primary in crucial border state by 36 points (Kentucky). What's the rush? The Senator wouldn't confirm or deny the leak. That makes many Clinton supporters feel uneasy about the Senator.
“4. Couldn't resist listing Bill Richardson as under consideration for veep -- the one Red Flag name that infuriates even moderate Clinton supporters the most -- not because he chose to endorse Sen. Obama, but the way he did it, i.e., his inability to avoid negative comments on Sen. Clinton while doing so -- another person who sometimes can't resist the temptation of not being gracious when he should be, a great disappointment to many of his former close friends from the Clinton camp and which will not be forgotten.”

Obama has proven himself to be a failed candidate and a failed leader. Absolutely the worst job of inspiring confidence in Democrats of any candidate I've ever seen. Dukakis was better. And talk about not being able to close the deal - Obama actually keeps doing worse as the primary goes on.
Most of all, he's demonstrated that he can't/won't be able to bring his own party together - let alone bring the country together. He is so blinded by pride and his nned to be surrounded by sycophants that he can't sense the desperate need to make some real gesture of conciliation towards Hillary and the majority of Democrats who voted for her before his own chances to win in November are gone. I'm already tired of this loser. Screw him.

OK:
So, being jerked around by the Clinton campaign/CNN wasn't enough for TPM/Election Central, huh??
Repeating in BIG headlines some miscellenous statement by Clinton's top fundraiser (is that the same one who tried to bribe the Young Democrats of America. That fundraiser?)isn't enough for TPM/Election Central, huh?
Now (this is huge, right?) what Clinton has to say to the SD paper (Obama has given tons of these interviews, right????) is worth a live link. Why??
Obama's response to the ongoing/eternal question of U.S.-Cuba relations would seem to be important (does he give? On what points?? Why?? Does he stick to his position of talking to move the country past the foreign policy dynamics of the past??), but evidently not to TPM/Election (and then maybe we could have some follow-up discussion about the generational differences among Cuban-Americans in Fla about Castro and Cuba). But no, what Clinton has to say to a SD newspaper's editorial board is...
what, exactly?

tuned in just in time to hear her continue the stretch (at best, lie at worst) that she leads in the popular vote.
For that you have to give Obama no votes in Michigan AT ALL and she goes a measly 5000 ahead, out of MILLIONS of ballots cast. Even while she's saying it, her numb, expressionless face and head shaking back and forth in a "no" gesture betray her own convictions. Shameless.
I pray for June 4 to be tomorrow.

You're dreaming if you think she'll drop out on June 4th.
I think Rachel Maddow is right - Hillary does not want a compromise on Florida and Michigan. She wants to keep the issue unresolved long enough to whip her supporters into a lather and force an ugly convention fight.
And we need to face facts - Rachel is the ONLY one who's been right about everything regarding the Clinton campaign so far.

I'm under no illusions that she will drop out at that moment, but on June fourth, all primaries are over, the May 31st meeting will have taken place, Superdels who have been waiting for the public to finish their voice will be free to endorse, and Hillary's argument gets much much harder.

He's ahead of her by 50 pledged delegates even if you seat the FL and MI delegates as voted and don't give him any of the uncommitted from MI.
If she wants to insist on trying to keep the nomination unsettled by using MI and FL, then he should just give her everything she wants there. He is so far ahead that he can in effect beat her with the one hand of MI tied behind his back.
I'm sure he'd rather have a larger margin of victory just for comfort's sake, but if it's a matter of ending it now or later, just end it now.

has him ahead of her by 76 as of this posting when you include FL and MI and add in the supers, so I don't see where the supers change anything other than making his lead even larger at this point. It's pretty clear that the supers are going to break overwhelmingly for Obama once all the voting wraps up.
What Obama has to do is take away any perception that the supers stole it from Clinton. Any compromise that Clinton opposes on MI and FL just keeps the issue open and her supporters confused about just how far behind she actually is.

Canada has a Universal Health Care Program. It also has many tiers of service and access, 1st tier: Members of Parliament and Governing Officials. 2nd tier: Military/RCMP with their own hospitals, doctors, specialists, etc. 3rd tier: Private insurance policies that can be taken out voluntarily by the individual, or supplied to employees through a company Group Insurance Program. 4th tier: Workman's Compensation Board claims. Employees injured on the job, or through work are provided with faster service to better facilitate their return to work; and 5th tier: Walk-in off the street service. Provides all the other service available through the other tiers, but service is considerably slower due to the increasing demographic of older people and advances in newer, expensive technology, which places undue strains on the system due to spiraling costs and faster diagnostics. This is what Canada considers Universal Health Care. Some Provinces do charge a monthly premium of around 100.00 for a family, but many are dropping these costs as their finances improve. All this does not include Dental, as this is considered outside essential services, that is, unless there has been a medical emergency where re-constructive surgery was necessary. All of these programs, these tiers, are funded through taxpayer contributions, payable to the Provinces so that a standard of care can be maintained all across Canada. The only tier that is not funded by the Government is the group policies, that instead is spread out through actuary costs per business and number of employees and paid for by business as an incentive for employee retention. What Hillary Clinton is proposing is not Universal, as there will be too much influence from private insurers, in turn allowing them to actually set the care standards available to it's policy holders based upon population and availability of services. Again, there would also be no guarantee that the same standard of care would be applied throughout the States and the territories. There is also very little chance that what she is proposing, especially in light of the budgetary constraints now facing the American Treasury, that it will ever achieve the majority necessary for implementation.

Senator Clinton, caucases are just about the closest definition of the word "representative" that you can possibly get. Are you representative of New York citizens? If you said "yes," guess what, these caucasses are more representative of their locations than you are representative of your state. Shame on you.

OK, take the assassination out of the quote -
The 1968 convention was a disaster for the Democrats, who lost the presidency that year, so historically it makes no sense for her to use this as an example so she does not deserve the benefit of the doubt.
This example makes NO HISTORICAL SENSE for her to bring up unless this is all about HER and not about the Democrats winning in November.
Now put the assassination remark back in... she is not a leader. she needs to get out.

You statements are starting to sound even more desperate to get her out of the campaign in any way you can and it shows your fear of OBAMA losing in the general more than her fear of loss.
everyday you people keep pushing hilliary supporters closer to mccain. Since I am already voting for him for reasons i have stated before i am starting to wonder that OBAMA folks can not be this dumb. are many of you really GOPers in disguise? who knows, but many of us are already resolved to vote mccain if hilliary loses and the continued hilliary bashing has become overkill in my opinion

So she's drawing the analogy between Bobby and ... who? Mike Gravel?
Again, if her point was to emphasize long nomination battles, she could have chosen many, many others - even those that ended up on the convention floor. That she chooses Bobby Kennedy - and 1968, a year the Dems ultimately lost - is at the very least terribly unfortunate.
I think it's also a bit disingenuous to act as if you think reacting to such statements is somehow immature or irrational - if the positions of Sens. Clinton and Obama were reversed, you can bet a major organ that Clinton supporters would be in the streets, calling for Sen. Obama's head.

Hillary is calling one of her "working class voters" to assassinate Obama in June so that she becomes a nominee. This is a pathological case. She must go through psychiatric evaluation to see whether she is contemplating of doing it herself. Early symptoms indicate she might, if one of her "working class" or white supremacists do not execute it. As a precaution, before she is allowed to go anywhere near Obama, she must be frisked for any weapon such as guns, knives, sharp objects including her makeup kits.

You are correct. This reminds me of how the far right took some innocuous facts and eventually made a case that Hillary Clinton murdered Vince Foster. The exact same malevolent and paranoid mentality that drove the far right to accuse the Clintons of numerous fictional felonies is now driving the the cult of Obama. Sad.
There is absolutely nothing in what Hillary said or did that had anything whatsoever to do with any implied threat towards Obama. Those who think otherwise must be very sick and paranoid individuals. It is abundantly clear to any sane person listening to what she said that all she was referring to was the fact that there have been Democratic primaries that have not been over until June.
But in the exact same way that political scum on the far right grabbed onto anything that they could possibly use in their desperate effort to drive Bill Clinton from office, there is the same kind of paranoid and unethical political scum in the Obama camp that is now using anything that they possibly can to drive Hillary from this race. And I've just about had it. I always intended to vote for whomever the Democratic candidate was. But I don't see how I can, in good conscience, vote for a candidate who could sink this low. And I doubt that I'm the only one at this point.
