TPM's Own McCain/Hagee Timeline

In the wake of John McCain's public rejection of John Hagee's endorsement, a prize he had sought for some time up until the Texas primary, we here at TPM have assembled a timeline documenting their political relationship from 2007 to the present.

Check it out here.

The perfect comeback to McCain on his "Well, I didn't go to Hagee's church for 20 years so it doesn't matter" is "Well, why did you SEEK OUT this nutjob's endorsement? Which of his many nutjob beliefs were you hoping to align yourself with?"

He was chasing Hagee's car.

Right. McSame wasn't sitting passively in a pew, he was actively sticking his nose up Hagee's ass.

So it took McCain a year to recognize this guy was a nut job and denounce him...and it took Obama 20...who has better judgement?

It's not the quantity of nutjob beliefs, it's the quality...

Johnny, if ye don't like the nutjob belief, don't seek endorsement from said nutjob. Enough said.

If the guy weren't a nutjob who now badly reflects on McCain's judgment, McCain wouldn't be tossing him under the proverbial bus as we speak.

The point with Obama is that Wright has been saying the same stuff for years...in front of Obama...but now Obama convieniently has decided that his comments are beyond the pale...they weren't 6 months ago...a year ago...5, 10, 15 years ago...only when it's pointed out that it's the "politically correct" thing to do, does he repudiate his "mentor." I think your boy's a phoney.

My "boy"???

Racist much?

Y'all gotta get a grip. You know, your boy...as in my boy...we're boys... figure of speech denoting your prefered one...

Sensative much?

Exactly. From the timeline's link to Newsweek;

"McCain personally wooed Hagee for more than a year. In early 2007, the Arizona senator traveled to Hagee's Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, where the two men had breakfast. They bonded over a shared commitment to the protection of Israel, a meeting that McCain later cited as a sign of his outreach to social conservatives."

McCain's problem will always be that he has to assume a wide stance; he has to constantly play footsie with the skeptical wingnuts on the far right like Hagee while simultaneously fondling his real base, the "bi"-partisan village elders in the media. Everytime he moves to one side or the other it is the blogoshere's job to remind the public of his other jilted lover.

You'll note that the s health record dump contains no psycho info

That's because he had such excellent treatment from Soviet and Cuban "psychiatrists"
