SEIU Plunks Down $500,000 On New Obama Ad In Indiana
The third-party-group spending is really flying in the presidential race today.
The Service Employees International Union, a major Big Labor ally of Obama, plunked down $500,000 on air time for the new pro-Obama Dem primary ad in Indiana that we reported on yesterday.
SEIU spokesperson Stephanie Mueller confirmed the half-million dollar buy, which isn't reflected in FEC filings yet.
This comes only hours after the American Leadership Project, the 527 put together by pro-Hillary unions and major donors, dropped another $200,000 on its ad hitting Obama on the economy, as we reported below. That brings ALP's total expenditure on the anti-Obama ad to $1.1 million.
All the outside cash flowing into the race is yet another sign of just how high the stakes in Indiana are seen to be by allies of both candidates.
Separately, SEIU also spent a startling $1.5 million on airtime today for an Ohio ad hitting John McCain over health care, FEC filings show -- meaning that the union's spending in the presidential race has hit $2 million for today alone.

It would seem Obama and his supporting groups have given up negative ads in the aftermath of Pennsylvania. This is probably for the best.
Of course, Clinton continues to whack away with her attacks.

I do not want this person answering any goddamn phones in the White House at any time but most especially not at 3 AM.
I don't want her near any more power. She is drunk/crazy with power.
She is scaring the shit out of me.
She's making McWar look good.

Perhaps "strong" does not convey the severity well enough. Many are not used to the nuance used.
It is not "kindly avoid stepping on the grass," it is "if you step on my motherf- lawn once more I will cut your f- heart out and feed it to your dog."

Can we take a break from flogging the Wright story and talk about how Clinton has pissed off the Iranians?

Was Greg flogging the Wright story?
Relax, I think everyone is getting a little twitchy. Like I said.....a long way to Denver folks.
I think it's getting to JMM too, judging by the latest front page hallucination.

Clinton spends a milion in attack ads against a democrat, and Bill is out spewing this bs today:
Former President Bill Clinton was in West Virginia on his wife's behalf. In Clarksburg, he called her a scrapper and contrasted her appeal among working-class voters with the elitists he said support Obama.
"The great divide in this country is not by race or even income, it's by those who think they are better than everyone else and think they should play by a different set of rules," he said. "In West Virginia and Arkansas, we know that when we see it."

Fantastic. I've spent the past 10 years defending Bill Clinton's BJ & perjury against all my rabid Repub family, and now he's vilifying me because I've sent a little money to Obama.
Yes, $25 donations + lattes = I think I'm better than other people. Sweet Jesus.
This sparking & stoking of resentments, playing Americans off each other to get votes, sowing anger and suspicion -- F Bill. F Hillary. F em good. For the sake of the country, we NEED to try something different. This is exactly why I'm for Obama.
I can't believe how sick the Clinton campaign makes me feel at times.

The news should highlight HILLARY HAS LOST THE ENTIRE BLACK VOTE....FOREVER !!!
This is the message currently being sent by blacks to the DNC in great numbers (and the superdelegates). There is no way Hillary will defeat McCain without the support of Black America aka the guaranteed Democratic vote. Please read Huffington Posts story on how the Hillary Camp has been feeding Obama attacks TO THE GOP !!!!! What a traitor to the Democratic Party !!!!!!!! Hillary started out with 82% of the black support. But as Blacks learned more about her (Goldwater Girl...Against Civil Rights Act '64....It was LBJ...Not MLK....etc) combined with Bill's (...fairy tale....Jessie Won S.C. too...etc.)...blacks were shocked beyond repair. (remember....we luved Bill so much we called him 'The First Black President')....but never again....WHERE'S THAT STORY. And if the DNC thinks.....'ohhhhhh....the blacks will be angry at first...but they'll come around'.....then they don't know the severity of what the Clinton's have done....This has nothing to do with Obama !!!! We (blacks) have awakened to the truth about the Clintons......and with more exposure like today's Huff story re: Hill's feeding the GOP Obama smears...our friends of ALL races will awaken soon !!!!!!!!!...THAT'S THE REAL STORY !!!!
Greg Jones
http://www.Blacks4Barack.org
(A Multi-Racial, Grassroots Org...Dedicated To Truth)
p.s. Blacks4Barack.org was started in Feb. 2007 (by Greg Jones) because of the fact that VERY few blacks were for Obama at that time.....they were ALL for Hillary !!!!! We knew that Obama was the best person to run our country and bring our troops home and that is why we started our grassroots organization with a mission to increase black voter registration and to invigorate support for Obama. (Not because he's black...but because he's most qualified) The more black voters learned about Obama...the more they liked him....and the more they learned about the Clintons....the angrier they got !!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are appreciative of our friends of ALL races....who are working together....for the very best candidate....to put America on the right track.....Barack Obama ! THANK YOU !

hey Greg! Nice to see you over here too.
I shot that huff headline all over through my facebook page. It's getting around.
A vote for Hillary is a vote for McCain because no Blacks, kids or progressives will vote for her for any national office ever. She is more dead to us than Richard Nixon.

I love reading the dying breaths of the Clinton Machine that emanate from the people on this thread. The trolls of the "Tuzla terror" cannot fathom what everyone else(who can do simple math) already knows:
The Clinton Machine has died.
But, you can always try to take out Sen. Obama, then try to rebuild all your queens horses, and all your queens men, over the next four years.
Just ask Ralph Nader how successful that strategy was for him.

As a San Franciscan, I'm particularly offended by the recent comments by both Clintons about (us) "elitists." A couple of weeks ago, Hillary put the "Okie from Muskogee" hate-spin the words "San Francisco" as she made reference to (probably not exact quote) "well, you know where Obama MADE those remarks - it was in Saaan Fraancisssco."
The Clintons have made SF their fund-raising HOME on the west coast. They have been welcomed here when they were facing disapproval by the rest of the country. We have given them LOTS of money.
I turn my back to them. Forever.

Not. Kidding.

John McCain will turn 72 years old on August 29th.
He is a Depression Babe, born in the middle of the 30's, a full decade before the first of the Boomers - the generation which will to a large extent determine whether or not he sits in the Oval Office.
Not only is he getting a pass by the MSM, but they are constantly using old file photos to accompany pieces regarding their fave: McBomb McCain.
Obama could do no better than to ask Virginia senator James Webb to be on the ticket with him. In political measure, the latter is the real McCoy, having attended the Naval Academy, served in Vietnam with the Marines and has a son now serving in Iraq. Webb has gone to the mat with the Bush administration repeatedly since his election. He is solid gold.
The military vote has become largely alienated from the Bush regime. Webb's presence on the ticket would be magnetic in gathering this sector and the Southern vote as well.

maybe it's just the way tpm keeps characterizing these 527 ads in its headlines, but isn't it suppose to be the case that a 527 can't put up an ad FOR a specific candidate, but instead only for ISSUES?
...or am i'm misunderstanding the purported limitations on 527s?
inquiring minds want to know.
