Obama Campaign Offices In Terre Haute Targeted By Bomb Threats
So reports the Tribune-Star:
TERRE HAUTE -- Indiana State Police swept Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama's Terre Haute campaign headquarters on Wabash Avenue this afternoon following an alleged call to a WTHI Channel 10 reporter claiming to have placed a bomb there and at six other Indiana locations.Campaign workers were allowed back inside to continue their voter calling once police determined it was safe.

Maybe this is a part of Operation Chaos.
Hey, gottalife, has Rush told you and your fellow insufferable little troll twits to phone in bomb threats?

I was expecting a stunt for sympathy votes by
Obama supporters.
Let's see if it helps them.

O man. And the office was vandalized - where was that?
O man I hate this shit.

The office that was vandalized Sunday night was in Vincennes, Indiana

This is meant to suppress the GOTV effort by each local Obama campaign office. That's what these fake bomb calls accomplish.

Remeber Nevada? I wouldn't put this past Monster Inc, they've done some truly horrendous things in the past.

I would seriously doubt it. Crazed supporter, maybe. Or crazed racist. Or crazed general-purpose sociopath (remember the sad character who took over an HRC office in NH months ago). But I would be shocked if this had anything whatsoever to do with the HRC campaign. And I am none to speak ill of them quite often.

You are probably right, but I wouldn't be shocked if you were wrong.
Yes, I am that jaded. I can't help it, I've been paying attention.

She is a "fighter," and did send out mailers with Obama's head superimposed on a gun barrel, but I don't see them taking it to the next level -- actually a couple of levels beyond.

Well think of it this way: It is one phone call. A call made to a news operation. Yes, it is illegal, but the chances of ever getting caught are minimal.
Still, you are most likely correct. It was probably some crack pot.

Clinton doesn't have to have ordered it for it to be connected, just as interbellum news organizations weren't actually telling people to go of pogrom, but sure were responsible.

were the "6 other Indiana locations" also Obama offices?

Did the caller by any chance have a Cajun accent and make references to the least popular of the Apostles?
May 6, 2008 4:58 PM | Reply | Permalink
LOL!
An eyewitness described the caller thusly, "He looked a little bit like Skelletor."

Don't make too many assumptions - could just be some lone crackpot like gotalife.
May 6, 2008 4:59 PM | Reply | Permalink
Hmmmmm...that's the question, is it a crackpot Republican who thinks Obama is a Muslim, or some angry Hillary supporter?
Or Bill himself on covert ops :P

Wee Georgie of ABC is reporting that both the
Clinton and Obama camps are projecting a 4 to 8 point win in Indiana for Hillary, and that Obama will win North Carolina. He did not give a margin for that state.

He spins until the last, I see.
May 6, 2008 5:13 PM | Reply | Permalink
How is an "unbiased media pundit" allowed to even project margins before the polls close? There are still 3 hours worth of voting in the NW Indiana Chicago suburbs.
May 6, 2008 5:18 PM | Reply | Permalink
Absolutely. I think that's crap....I thought they weren't supposed to do that.
May 6, 2008 5:22 PM | Reply | Permalink
Well Wee Georgie is full of crap and one gigantic liar for Hillary.
I don't call him Stephinfechitopoulos for nuttin.

If wee Georgie is full of crap now. After he has been given an enema, he will be able to sleep in a ring box.

It looks as if George is reporting what the Clinton and Obama campaigns are saying, not that George is making predictions himself.
And this isn't particularly new information, these predictions.
Gotalife in the other thread just told everyone that Obama's going to get a thumping.
Color me shocked that he thinks so.

Wee Georgie Streptoccocuspulus's public woodies over a Hillary win, have absolutely hindered me from watching anything on ABC.

Jeez.
I'm glad there was no bomb and every one is ok.
Scary. People are crazy and this has gone on for too long.

Not surprising. A bunch of us from STL went to Evansville (also in southwestern IN) on Saturday to canvass, and while there was strong Obama support in some parts of town, there were also some scary folks: a house with a swastika painted on the garage door, one guy who said he would never vote for a "half breed" and a third who said he would vote Obama because "it's been too long since we had a good assassination." Remember, Indiana is the birthplace of the KKK.

Are you serious? Did something actually say that to you about an assassination? Fuck - I'd report em. I'm serious.
May 6, 2008 5:40 PM | Reply | Permalink
Fortunately for me, I got mostly very positive people. The guy I was canvassing with got the nut jobs mentioned above. But in any case, we are back in STL now.
May 6, 2008 5:45 PM | Reply | Permalink
It's not as if about 8 of my friends have told me how worried they are about the possibility, which worried me.
I'm not even going to talk about it.

ugh!
Barista, did the guy at least notify someone in the campaign office about these bizarre confidences he garnered while canvassing?

As a Clinton supporter I detest this. Vigorous differences of opinions are fine. Threats of actual violence are not, against any candidate.
Then again there was this Chris Rock bit:
"I know... people say 'never say never'... well, I'm saying 'NEVER' be a black vice president. The reason is that all the blacks will line up to shoot the president so the VP moves up."

It's really the happy fellow calling himself "slumlord". Interesting choice of name.
Anyway, it's easy to change the name that appears on the page, but the underlying account name is still there. Just hover over it with your mouse and you can see the name revealed.

Geez, I just left that Terre Haute office yesterday. Sick folks like the bomb threat guy are a symptom of the decline in this society, and a symptom of the decline in politics which Obama tries to address.
Well, at least I have some really good memories of phoning from that office on Wabash, and of hearing a lot of Indiana folks respond that they were voting for Obama.

I believe so. Several other canvassers encountered the same sort of thing. I believe it's par for the course in southern IN.
