Obama Ally SEIU: "He Is Clearly The Democratic Nominee For President"

Obama-supporting SEIU emails out a statement basically telling Hillary that it's time to get out of the race:

"Senator Obama's commanding win in North Carolina and close showing in Indiana means he is clearly the Democratic nominee for President," said Anna Burger, SEIU Secretary-Treasurer. "We've had a long process and the outcome is now clear. The Democratic Party should come together to focus on winning in November."

That's another thing to watch for, starting tomorrow -- or, rather, right now: The likelihood that we'll be hearing mounting calls from Obama supporters that she get out of the race.

It's tiiiiiiiiiiiiime.

She hasn't had a chance of winning the nomination since March.

Nothing has changed tonight.

It's all over! The narrative has already shifted in the MSM. Hilary.....gone!!

user-pic

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh -

Peace out,
one love.

and Yes we can. We really can.

By the end of the night it will be a 50/50 split in Indiana, and the fat lady will start singing.

I don't think we'll be hearing too many calls from Obama supporters for her to drop out, as the writing is pretty much on the wall at this point. Supers will make that increasingly clear, and the media will basically put Hillary on suicide watch from this point on. Any explicit calls for her to drop can and will be heard by Clinton supporters as disrespect, so the real pressure will be behind the scenes.

As soon as they called NC, it's like the fog lifted, the music changed, everybody snapped out of it. Thank God. I'm tired. Trying to hang in there for Gary. We should synchronize for a toast. But then I'd have to move.

Gary, Indiana, home of the Jackson 5 and Obama 08.

Oh, Idiotic, where are you brotha?

It's definitely time.

If everyone in Gary all got together and voted for Obama (as the mayor thinks) then there's no denying it...

Gary Indiana, Gary Indiana, Gary Indiana!

MSNBC: Gary is staring to report in. At 91% of the precincts in, Hillary's lead in under 20K

now its less than 20,000 votes and 51-49 for clinton.

its 51(HC)-49(BO)

ah.. her we go again though.. its a bit untoward to keep telling someone the need to get out of the race.. not very proper... she can and should say in the race as long as she wants. all these calls do is give not entirely incorrect validation towards the narrative that she is discriminated against, which then keeps her race in the news with a story line that makes it seem still important and viable... best to just move on from it.

here greg goes again... where exactly in this text is hillary clinton mentioned or is she told to drop out of the race. this email is no different than any of the articles written by journalists over the last 2 months saying that the math pretty much makes the race a done deal. it states the seiu's belief that obama will be the nominee and calls for party unity-- is a call for party unity equivalent to calling for hillary to drop out? with almost 50% of indiana clinton voters (or was it NC?) saying that they woudl not vote for obama against mccain, isn't a call for unity bigger than clinton's candidacy?

more hillary bias greg; you really need to get a hold of your journalistic compass if you want to be a respected writer. i point this, and other instances of sloppiness, out to you in hopes that you will get better with time and exposure.

I wish there was exit polling on the gas tax pander. In my phone calls with Indiana voters (who were amazingly polite and willing to chat, even if they were committed Hillary supporters), the gas tax pander was clearly something they thought was not a winner for her.

Voters like an extra 30 bucks, but it seems they also like being treated like adults as well.

With 91% of IN reporting:

Clinton - 51%

Obama - 49%

It's Getting tighter!

North Carolina and Gary, Indiana. Pretty different, but delivering the two decisive blows? Olberman better stay on the air past midnight. I want to hear him call the TKO.

CBS is crapping their pants right now

user-pic

It will be from more than just Obama supporters Greg. When will you start seeing what is right in front you (and has been for over a month)...?

She lost the nomination over a month ago.

user-pic

This is going to be close!

The mayor of Gary is reporting 95% turnout in some precincts that are going heavily for Obama.

NINETY FIVE PERCENT.

I am dreaming of an Obama victory this November... believe me... but is anybody else simultaneously giddy and appalled at the prospect of a place on the outskirts of Chicago hand-counting ballots when the city machine is huge for Obama, they are hours later than everywhere else in reporting, and they know precisely how many votes they need to net in order to deliver victory?

That's the Chicago way!

Oooh, net 20k with just 4% additional precincts in.

I love that the "NewsMax" google ad asking "Over for Obama?" is still running. Even the trolls have quit saying that now!

Congrats on Nailing your home state!
And for nailing the Obama Victory Prediction in NC!

NC State Dem: You told us you would deliver, and you did. Thank you thank you thank you. I vacation in Hatteras every year and will until I die. Thank you, NC!!!!

Bloomington (University of Indiana) also still out?

user-pic

I'm saying ... this is MY county... All I can figure is that we had a large number of absentee ballots. Obama was getting the students to vote before they left for home. Also, we use paperless machines. Most of us don't trust them. Early voting is done on paper.

user-pic

Oh - and it's Indiana University. :-)

Damn it, I knew that. I'm really sleep deprived. Josh, we need an edit button!

Without Operation Chaos, she lost Indiana.

user-pic

Damn good point.

Closed to 20K gap with only 27% of lake County reported.

30 percent = 20k spread for Obama so he might gain another 40k in the spread.

If the margins in Lake country stay the way they are showing so far then Obama will win this.

Well, look at it this way. If nothing else, Hillary has proved that she can toss back a few as good as the guys. That is big big big, folks!

Of course, that it may cost the Democrats the White House in 2009 is just a side issue, a by product of Hillary's Magnificent Obsession.

It might not be close after all. At this rate, Obama wins by 20k, if the remaining precincts are like that last group. Meanwhile, in NC a 225k vote win, easily besting PA.

Would it not be rather delicious if a blue-collar union was the first to declare Obama the nominee and turned the tide for public opinion and commentary?

MSNBC is saying Hillary is canceling morning shows for tomorrow.

user-pic

Whaaaaaa?

ARGH!

WENCH HILLARY IS TIGHTER...

NEEDS VOTERS WHITER...

I SUCK LEMONS TO KEEP MY TEETH...

OBAMA'S GOOD RUNNING...

GIVES HIM THE FUNDING...

AS SO THE WENCH IS LEFT BENEATH!

BREAK OUT THE RUM, MATES!

HAVE A TANKARD ON ME!

AND GRAB THE TIGHT WENCH, OUR DEAR MIZ HILLARY!

ACQUIRE! MERGE! MARAUD! DILUTE! DILUTE!

ARGH!

Sen Clinton has cancelled all her morning show appearances.

Breaking: This is huge.

Hillary was scheduled to go on all the morning TV shows. She has just canceled all of those appearances.

oh my god, this is craaaaaaaaaazy!

It's a great day to be an American.

:-)

GLORIOUS! THE DEFEAT OF THE MONSTER IS AT HAND!

I really appreciate all the updates because I don't have cable!!

Did you hear Chris Matthews's impassioned cry about Limbaugh's Operation Chaos? -- about the perversion of The Vote "for which so many fought and died!"

I thought he was going to cry. I honor him for it.

Oh, c'mon. Chris Matthews is a perverted, disgusting, blowhard—but he's our perverted, disgusting blowhard. You think Hillary Clinton ever sent a tingle up his pants?

Ding Dong The Wicked Witch Is Dead LOL Sorry, I've been wanting to say that for quite some time

btw, when you see replays of hillary's speech, watch chelsea, i think she's misty eyed, tipping their backstage hand...

Keith Olberman: Did it end tonight?

Chris Matthews: Yes.

"The likelihood [is] that we'll be hearing mounting calls from Obama supporters that she get out of the race".

As noted up-thread, I doubt there will be much of that. More than likely, Clinton realists and party pro's will extinguish her dream behind closed doors.

Considering how Senator Obama did in North Carolina the second biggest loser tonight is John Edwards. He now has no leverage at all.

No more monster. No more witch. I'm feeling gracious in victory.

BTW, What all this B.S. about Hillary being the VP?

No way, Hillary should bow out, endorse and go back to the Senate- Quietly.

GOATLIFE is a COWARD he will not even show his face!!!He kept sayin how Hillary is gonna KICK OBAMAS AS in NC and IN!!!Did not get it done did she GOAT!!!

I continue to believe that it's the big money Clinton backers that have this thing bottled up. Every time one of the party leaders suggests that the superdelegates start announcing, these guys throw a hissy fit and start threatening to take their ball and go home. But eventually even they have to face reality, and I think the time is soon. Once they back off, the superdelegate announcements will turn into a deluge and it will be over in the blink of an eye.

user-pic

MSNBC right now has Matthews, Buchanan, and Olbermann arguing it is over for Hillary as of tonight vs Rachel Maddow arguing that it has been over for some time. Now that's balance I can get behind.

Also, Maddow is awesome. She is the second most intelligent commentator after Chuck Todd.

user-pic

I hope Hillary stays in the race through May 20. I don't know how she'll justify it, but it would look pretty bad if Obama loses WV and KY after his only opponent dropped out of the race. Obama has no chance of winning either state, but his margin would be better if people show up for an (officially) legitimate primary just a few months before the election. That would impact McCain's spending, and other races down ticket.

Also, it would be good to prop up Hillary Clinton for a short gracious goodbye lap, as she generated a lot of loyalty and registered/reactivated a few voters herself (not as many as Obama, but she deserves some credit).

The 50% of voters who say they'll vote for McCain if Hillary is defeated is overblown, but is not a negligible number. Obama can't smooth that over by putting Hillary on the ticket--it would KILL Oregon, Colorado, and Nevada for the general, and wouldn't win Ohio or Florida. There needs to be a phase of the race where Hillary sides with Obama against McCain.

Where the F*** is that idiot with the icon with Obama with a chicken on his head??????

Where is that asshat?

Anyone remember who I'm talking about? Can't remember his name?

Anyway, 'EAT THIS DIRTBAG!'

"Obama will be an underdog until the moment he is sitting in the Oval Office." Michelle Obama
