McCain Airing New Ad On The Economy in Iowa
The McCain seems to be making a big play for Iowa, where polling has shown him trailing Barack Obama. They have premiered this new ad, in which McCain promises to look out for people on economic issues:
"The great goal is to get the American economy running at full strength again," McCain says, "creating the opportunities Americans expect and the jobs Americans need."

He proposes making taxes simpler and fairer?
He really said that?!?!
Making the Bush tax cuts permanent makes the U.S. tax system fairer exactly how?

Seriously. I hope after running ads like this that he will not have the effrontery to criticize Obama for lack of specifics. Meanwhile, here's hoping that, now that it is generally agreed that Obama has won, that he can start using some of those inflated primary coffers to hit McCain hard before the conventions even start.

I find McCain remarkably uncompelling as a public speaker. If I were making ads for him, I'd simply leave him out of them altogether. Still shots, maybe. Voice overs? Don't go there.
I like the "portable and affordable" catch phrase. I'd like to see Obama combine it with "healthcare not just for the wealthy and the healthy".
Either way, that ad isn't very interesting. On the other hand, Iowa is probably just now starting to recover from the political hangover it must have been in for the last 4 months, so maybe it will be really appealing to viewers.

That's actually a fantastic line.
Obama needs to come up with some memorable lines that stick in voter's minds to remind them what's REALLY at stake here.
(you should email it to the campaign and see if they incorporate it...)

He said it himself in North Carolina Tuesday night.
I hope we'll be hearing more of it.
And not more of the "I've been to 57 states" comment.
But if I had to bet, my money would be on the 57 states comment.

Too bad his "plan" doesn't come close to single payer universal. Just like Hillary's BS only worse...its optional.

It's my understanding that Obama wants to make the health plan available to members of Congress available to all Americans...
Isn't that pretty much John Edwards plan, except with the caveat that if you like your current plan you can keep it?
While not "True" Universal Healthcare, it's a plan that is possible given the current environment.
If after a few years of voluntary universal healthcare, don't you think the next Democratic president (Chelsea, McCaskill, ???) can push forward a system like France or Norway?
Sure it's a cop-out, but I think that SOMETHING is a whole lot better than status quo. I have asthma so I can't get ANY insurance for less than $600+ per month. A SIMPLE medication that costs about $90 a month completely regulates my condition, but I need to spend an addition $610 just in case anything else happens. That's ridiculous.
If Obama's plan prevents cherry-picking and subsidizes lower-income citizens, then that's enough for me at this point. Do I want more? Sure, but the political reality is that he needs to show that the halfway step works and greatly improves the situation before we push the othe half of the way.
...and it's a WHOLE lot better than McCain's offer of taking healthcare away from employers and giving tax relief for us to buy private insurance (if they'll take you).

...sorry, my math is off in my post.
I have to spend an additonal $510.00/month for everything else.
-I'm so tired that I think there's 57 states too. :)

My friends, I'm counting on you to listen to my bromides and ignore my agenda. Because let's face it -- you don't really want to know that I will slash taxes for the wealthy and corporations, undermine employer-provided health benefits and leave even more Americans uninsured, do nothing substantive for people facing foreclosure, and have no clue about economic policy. Just keep telling yourself I'm a straight-talking maverick. And keep listening when my friends in the news media tell you the same thing.

Hey Senator McCain. Put a note on your refrigerator to remind yourself.
I am trying to plan my Summer time expenses. Why are you not working on the Gas Tax Holiday that you promised me.
Get back to Washington and get me the thirty cents you promised. Iowa can wait. Summer will not.
The fridge is your friend when it comes to avoiding Senior Moments. Get me my damn thirty cents, McCain.

McCain got no game . . . If Hillary wasn't propping his pasty white ass up, he'd already be done for.

I guess he didn't get Hillary's message - Iowa doesn't count.

With Obama at the top of the ticket, Democrats are going to romp in Iowa in this cycle.
McCain's wasting his time and money. Of course, against Obama, he's going to be wasting a lot of money in this election.
I can't wait until he has to run ads to try and hold the Dakotas.
