Dems Favored To Pick Up Louisiana House Seat -- GOP Pessimistic
Democrats have a big opportunity to expand their House majority today, and in a very unlikely place. The special election in Louisiana's Sixth District -- which gave 59% of its vote to President Bush in 2004 -- is being held today with Democrat Don Cazayoux favored to beat controversial Republican Woody Jenkins.
The GOP undertook an effort in the home stretch to tie Cazayoux, a social conservative, to the national party in general and Barack Obama in particular as an early experiment in using the Democratic frontrunner as a cudgel against down-ticket Democrats.
However, a Republican source tells TPM Election Central that while the ad has actually had some success, there isn't much optimism that it will be enough to pull Jenkins through: "Cazayoux's negatives have certainly gone up, but the question is whether or not it's been enough to make Woody Jenkins a viable alternative."
Polls close at 9 p.m. ET tonight.

Other than a last name that the Hillbots and Repugnancans rhymed with 'Tax you' just what are our next Democratic Representatives negatives?

Hey y'all, here's a link to video of the JJ Dinner speech in Raleigh.

As far as this downticket effect, it was good to see how it affected Dennis Hastert's old seat in IL, but better to have an experiment in a total different area.

Thanks, Deadalus.
You know, back around Christmas / New Year's it was finally watching the vid of Barack's JJ Dinner speech in Iowa that converted me from a logical supporter of Clinton ("she's inevitable. she's a fighter. she's up in all the polls. blah blah blah.") to a passionate supporter of Obama.
Watching this vid made me feel the same way. I hope it has the same effect on any undecided NC/IN folks.

Are they certain it was the Obama ad that raised Cazayoux's negatives and the two-week barrage of ads by Freedom's Watch and the Club for Growth had nothing to do with it? By the way, Cazayoux's negative are nowhere near Jenkin's.

Those attack ads featuring Obama sure are working great! This seat has only been Republican for 33 years, after all. And the Democrat who was in 34 years ago left the party to join George Wallace's merry band of racists and is now a Council of Conservative Citizens leader.
I'm sure we will see a LOT more of those Obama attack ads this cycle. *snort*

I hail from LA originally, near Baton Rouge in fact, and have some excellent political connections still
TPMEC may trust republican sources that butress their pathetic Billary Bias.
Predictably, they're full of shit

Here is Candidate Clinton in 2005 on CBS using the same language McCain used in his 100 year gaffe. This was in an interview with Bob Scheiffer. Marc needs to find the video for this and then we can here how vetted she really is. How could McCain's 100 year remark be used against him if she is the nominee. You'll have her bashing McCain and then show her praising what McCain said.
What is amazing about candidate Clinton's candidacy is she is rising even though she is a neocon in an anti war party. Just shows America loves dynasties. I am convinced voters are voting for Bill Clinton and not her.
Here is candidate Clinton in her own neocon words.
Sen. CLINTON: If I could just add to what Senator Graham said, because I think it's really
important we underscore this.
Senator McCain made the point earlier today, which I agree
with, and that is, it's not so much a question of time when it comes to American military
presence for the average American; I include myself in this.
But it is a question of casualties.
We don't want to see our young men and women dying and suffering these grievous injuries
that so many of them have.
We've been in South Korea for 50-plus years. We've been in Europe for 50-plus. We're still in Okinawa with respect to protection there coming out of
World War II.
You know, we have been in places for very long periods of time.
And in recent history, we've
made a commitment to Bosnia and Kosovo, and I think what is different is the feeling that
we're on a track that is getting better and that we can see how the Iraqi government will begin
to assume greater and greater responsibility. The elections were key to that. The training,
equipment, equipping and motivating of the Iraqi security forces is key to that.
But so is our
understanding that if we were to artificially set a deadline of some sort, that would be like a
green light to the terrorists, and we can't afford to do that.
Dailykos poster had the scoop:

To all the Obama supporters out there.
Get this story out there. The vetted candidate is not vetted.

Holy. . . crap. That is a bombshell.
That completely destroys Hillary's argument vis-a-vis Iraq and renders her unelectable against McCain. If we nominate her, McCain will run with that quote all the way to November. I can just hear it now, "Flip-flop, flip-flop, flip-flop."
That quote is a serious liability.
