Ickes: Not All Pro-Hillary Rules Committee Members Guaranteed To Vote Her Way
In a further sign that the Clinton camp is setting low expectations for the Rules Committee meeting tomorrow, Harold Ickes is now warning that not all of the Clinton-backing committee members -- representing a plurality, but not a majority -- might not vote for the campaign's position of seating all the Florida and Michigan primary delegates.
As for himself, Ickes humorously told the Wall St. Journal that he could "possibly" vote against Hillary's interests, "but it's highly unlikely."

Take it to the convention floor Clinton.

Hillary should run as an Independent. That would be REAL CHANGE and she would win.

SInce Ickes SIGNED OFF on the sanctions, originally, I do think it would be the honorable thing to stick to his principles (Yickes - like that one has a chance....) But I forget, he's now "wearing a different hat"... Isn't the duty of a R&B member to perform your duties according to the rules, or has that, too, been thrown overboard by the Clinton clan. Boy, they are starting to make the Bush-Cheney group look weak..

Eric,
You need to remove the first "not" from the first sentence or construct it otherwise.

Hillary Clinton supporters are going to protest tomorrow and they dont seem to even understand the process. If they did, they wouldnt protest. Ickes comments is even more proof that the Clinton camp is putting up a fake fight, but whats sad is that her supporters have been lead to think she is really getting the raw end of the stick.

Gee, do you all think Obama's new "pastor problem" will suddenly make the entire Rules Committee go against him tomorrow (like more than a few Clinton supporter pundits said last night on the talk shows)???
Uhhhhh...NOT A CHANCE!!!
Go have another drink, Shrillary!

By the way, Shrill's supporters were given approval to surround the building the meeting is taking place in - and to hold an overnight vigil tonight...candles, chanting, etc.
But will that also include screetching and cackling?
Ahhhh, to be a Clinton supporter - that would mean I have absolutely nothing else to do with my life.

Are they really going to hold a candlelight vigil? Hillary lost the nomination, she didn't get hit by a car.

I think allowing supporters in the meeting and to protest is taking a huge gamble. this has disaster written all over it.

I don't think it's going to be a problem but I just don't see the point. The DNC members aren't going to judge the proposals based on applause.

I'm more concerned about the convention in Denver, honestly. This isn't her last shot at resolving MI/FL in her favor so hopefully people won't treat this like a last stand or something. I'm also hoping that organizers are telling attendees that any raucous behavior reflects badly on their candidate.

I'll continue saying it until proven otherwise - this will not go to the convention. The party leaders and Hillary's SDs will not let it happen.

Agreed, but even if it's not voted on at the convention, I do expect some sort of hijinks.

That Ickes is such a card. Ha, ha, ha.
I wonder if anyone will ask the putz why he voted for the sanctions in the first place? Or how about if they would have let the candidates know that they were only going to cut the delegates in 1/2 and therefore the candidates could campaign in the states. If they would have done that up front, Obama would have won michigan and possibly florida or it would have been alot closer. This is total garbage.

Well, it's nice to know that not all the people supporting Hillary are automatons willing to toss the rules out the window just because it benefits their candidate.
It's nice to think that maybe, just maybe, some of these people would be thinking about the bigger picture, in which having no sanctions on Michigan and Florida guarantees greater chaos for the party in the future as states realize they can ignore the DNC rules without consequence.

Well at least he leaves the possibility of upholding his intial ruling open.
The rules committee needs to stand by it's ruling. Their decision has already affected the primaries of Michigan and Florida and caused them to be 'tainted'. Voter supression occurred because many voters trusted the DNC and the candidates (including Hillary) when they were told that their votes would not count. There is no way to 'count every vote' because of this. Voter choice was supressed. Candidates did not campaign in these states and their choices were not properly expressed. Because the Clintons were a household name this caused some skewed results that do not reflect the true expression of the voters of these two states... I am not saying she could not have received even more votes... what I am saying is the elections were not fair and representative.
The ruling should stand and there should be no seating of the delegates based on the 'tainted' primaries.
After standing by their intial decision then they could decide to allow the delegation to be seated 'not based on those primaries that were in violation of the rules' but for the sake of party unity in a fair and equitable way. I would prefer that the delegates of both states be seated 50/50 with no right to change their vote/representation at the convention.
The credibility of the DNC is at stake and they will be setting precedent if they cater to any candidate or state. The rights of ALL voters must be considered including the votes that were supressed.

". . . not guarenteed to vote her way . . . BUT they better if they don't want to wake up with ice picks in their eyes . . . or with a horse or two's head in their beds . . . or . . ."

IF they don't vote in Clinton's favor, then they aren't true clinton supporters.
I believe for them to show that they are true clinton supporters, they have to vote to have all delegates, and all votes counted in both michigan and florida.
VOTE IN HILLARY'S FAVOR:)
I hope the Clinton camp is working those board members like crazy to vote in her favor and i hope they are working those 9 uncommitted board members too.....
WE must see all the delegates and count all the votes from both michigan and florida.....
FIGHT HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!

2 out of 13 clinton supporters have publicly said that they will vote to have all delegates fully seated and all votes fully counted..... Let's get the other 11 to vote in her favor.... and let's get 3 of the uncommitted to vote her way:):):)

On the RBC, there are a total of 28 voting members, along with two co-chairs who can vote only in the event of a tie. To win, then, Clinton needs at least 15 votes, or, if both co-chairs cast ballots, 16 votes.....
I sure hope that the clinton camp and clinton supporters and donors are calling and e-mailing those board members like crazy......
13 of the board members are clinton supporters..... i sure hope they line up behind her...... please do the right thing:)
"IF" she can get the 13 board members that are supporting her, then she only needs 2/3 more votes to go her way:)
IF you believe that the delegates from michigan and florida should be fully seated with a full vote and the popular vote should fully count..... then please start calling and e-mailing the board members..... :):)
GO HILLARY!!!!!

I feel that the meeting as broadcast on TV will open with a flair of protest and shouting for Hillary but once order is established they will get down to business and vote on the various proposals. In the end, it is meaningless that Hillary will appeal their decision to seat delegates with a 50% vote for each delegate and Obama will accept the compromise.

I'm outraged at the way Hillary is being bullied out of this primary. She has way more experience. She cares about working people. She has been the victim of a conspiracy to keep a woman from being President. Florida and Michigan was set up to sabatoge her. She's honest, caring and honorable.
This is an outrage.

Right you are. My mistake. I was trying to get inside the head of die-hard Clinton supporters, and it's a scary place to be. I didn't use all the hyperbolic tools at my disposal.
It's fun to post this kind of nonsense at Taylor Marsh, and then watch them work themselves into an indignant fenzy, long on emotion and short on sense.

The Clinton supporters on the RBC are also Democratic officials with political careers of their own to consider, careers which are going to continue after the primary is over. In addition, many states have state conventions coming up where DNC members will be voted on. The really interesting ones to watch will be pro-Hillary DNC members in states with upcoming conventions where the majority will be Obama delegates. I suspect they'll be very scrupulous in how they interpret the rules, or they may not be DNC members in a few weeks.
