Biden Defends Obama Against Lieberman's Attacks
In a sign that Democrats are now circling the wagons around Barack Obama as the party's nominee, Joe Biden has written a guest column in the Wall St. Journal rebutting an earlier piece by Joe Lieberman, which attacked Obama's credibility on national security. Biden has not formally endorsed a candidate in the race, but his public defense of Obama is telling.
"Sen. Obama is right that the U.S. should be willing to engage Iran on its nuclear program without 'preconditions' - i.e. without insisting that Iran first freeze the program, which is the very subject of any negotiations," Biden writes. "He has been clear that he would not become personally involved until the necessary preparations had been made and unless he was convinced his engagement would advance our interests."

Lieberman got pwned.

He's a great attack dog. In that sense, he'd be an excellent VP.

No one in the Dem party has been a more of an attack dog for BO than Joe Biden. Rembember, when Bush referred to BO foreign policy as "appeasment" Biden came out like gang busters and called Bush's comment "bull shit." I am telling you guys, Biden is what BO needs, a pit bull.

Biden is quietly making his case for VP. He has the foreign policy experience to go toe to toe with McCain. Unlike the other talked about VP candidates he has the national exposure and experience with dealing with a national and international media that many of the vp candidates dont have (Webb, Byah, Sabelius), plus he balances out the ticket as it relates to his "lifetime of experience" (a nice way to say he is old).

This really shows how far from common sense Lieberman has strayed...
He is getting slapped down by his own colleagues

I'm not convinced that Biden and Obama are a good fit. I also view the VP as a heartbeat away from the Presidency. My preference at this point is John Edwards, although he has certainly not expressed interest in the job. Well, he changed his mind on the war so perhaps he will change his mind on this.

Edwards? No thanks.

The election in November is a vital opportunity for America to start anew. That will require more than a great soldier. It will require a wise leader.
Well put, Senator Biden.

It's amazing how little faith George Bush, Joe Lieberman and John McCain have in themselves – and in America.
