AP: Fossella Won't Run Again
The tawdry political scandals of Rep. Vito Fossella (R-NY) could soon be coming to an end. The Associated Press is reporting that Fossella has decided to announce this week that he will not be seeking re-election.
Republicans believe that an open seat would be easier to hold in this particular case, with the Staten Island district likely to vote for John McCain by a big margin. If Fossella were to run again, the cash-strapped national party would have been unlikely to spend any money on his behalf in the country's most expensive media market.
If Fossella does announce his retirement, it would be a big cause for relief on the part of the NRCC.

Ahhhhh . . . Now I'm sad. Fossella was a true American patriot . . . throwing off the shackles of traditional marriage . . . I hear that his fourth wife was going to be a fellow Republican CongressMAN.
Frankly, I would have preferred Fossella to run. It woulda been good sport and woulda kept the Republicants from finding a replacement in time.

My personal favorite Vito scandal was misappropriation of the Muppets in campaign materials. Have an affair! Have a secret separate family in DC! Disown your gay sister! But to put Rosita and Elmo in campaign materials... Sir have you no shame?

Well, at least you're recognizing that he's a Republican. From 1pm (PDT) yesterday, MSNBCs ticker on the bottom of the screen identified Fossella as a Democrat. I guess this their inroads into FoxNewsiness.
