Obama Winning More Edwards Supporters Than Clinton
While John Edwards has stayed on the sidelines since he dropped out of the presidential race, Barack Obama has succeeded in getting far more of Edwards' organizational support than Hillary Clinton -- all of which could help him in the upcoming North Carolina primary.
FEC records show that Obama has raised almost $1 million from previous Edwards donors, compared to only $427,000 for Clinton. Another key statistic: Nine of Edwards' former Congressional backers have now endorsed Obama -- compared to zero for Clinton.

It is difficult to be both for and against the status quo. I tried it once and pulled a muscle in my back.

I was an Edward's supporter. I'd love to see Edwards endorse Obama. The sooner the better, too.

Edwards and Obama always had similar outreach styles -- they were both running grassroots campaigns (Edwards even more so) They were both more anti-war, with Edwards making a legitimate apology for his war vote right off the bat. Something Clinton has never done. In fact, it took her months to even admit that she wouldn't vote the same way again.

I am grossly offended by Mila's comments. There's a difference between being cranky and being downright insensitive.
I have never been an Edwards fan.... but you disgust me, Mila.

Edwards needs to wake up and endorse Obama one week before May 6th.

Agreed. His last chance for relevancy in this campaign is to come out for BO before the NC primary.

I'd say he's more likely to endorse Clinton because she's more likely to have offered him some sort of a quid pro quo.
On an unrelated note, it looks like Obama may be on his way to making another pitcher of delicious lemonade. He was asked in this morning's press conference about Rev. Wright's statement that he said things a politician says, and he responded by saying that the Reverend had a right to his opinion. And it suddenly occurred to me that he and Wright could actually set up an adversarial situation where Obama could come out against him more forcefully and nullify the attacks about their association.

an example of how slimey Edwards really is. Remember his Center for Work etc etc etc? His signature initiative to address the problems of poverty blahblahblah? Well, unlike you fools, I looked up its website. And it's a sham operation. I got their annual report too. The "Center" has one full-time employee, and you idiots think Johnny-boy is leading some big effort to help the poor. Fools. I hope some of you also get afflicted with painful, slow deaths. : )

I can believe that you are sincere when you say that he is a sham. I can read posts about it all day and not have a single issue with you. It's the wishing death on people part that is over the line.

I think the Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity is a bit more than you claim.

Mila! You need to take your meds! Right now! And call the doctor! You remember what happened last time you forgot, don't you? You don't want to hurt any more innocent schoolchildren, now, do you?

Agreed. I'm not an Edwards fan at all - but those comments are despicable.

We live in the world we believe in. We choose the world, but we don't get to pick and choose among the details. It's an all-or-nothing proposition. mila has chosen to live in a world that includes painful, slow deaths. mila's nightmare--not mine.

I remain an Edwards supporter. When Edwards withdrew, I was forced to cast my Primary ballot for one of the two remaining Republican-lite jack_holes. I held my nose and voted for the least offensive of the two . . . Obama.
I can not see myself being labelled an Obama supporter. Obama's POV on too many subjects places him to the 'right' of Mitt Romeny and his EXPRESSED rationalizations for his personal lack of defense of our Constitutional rights will forever eliminate the possibluty of me supporting Obama. It is my belief that Edwards faces simiar barriers to expressing support for Obama.
On the other side, Clinton (while not quite as batshit crazy as Senator Wackadoo from the great state of Arizona) remains a boldface fascist plutocrat whose aspirations (and tactics) mirror Bush43's. I readily understand anyone and everyone who withholds their support from Clinton.
Until Obama abandons some of his more recessivist stances OR it clear that Clinton has to be 'double-tapped' to get her to accept that she should go back to being the second best current Senator of New York, there is no reason for Edwards to alter his position on this subject.
The Obamanations and Clintoids should ramp back their attacks and let Clinton work herself into writing a book that no one will buy about how she had Her Royale Crownship stolen in 2008 . . .

I think you may be confused about what it takes to win the presidency. Honesty gets you nowhere in a presidential race in America. Like it or not, the lowest common denominator has the legal right to vote, and if you piss them off, they'll vote for the other guy. Idealism is a worthless commodity in a tight contest. To quote the enemy, "Don't get mad. Don't get even. Win the election--then get even."
You're like the person in the bad suspense movie who confronts the armed murderer by saying, "I know what you did, and I'm calling the police." Boom. Dead. Oops.
Let's let him win first, OK. Then will hold him to a higher standard. I'm sure he's got it in him.
