Obama Speaking Live To Indianapolis Star Editorial Board Right Now
In an interesting experiment, the Indianapolis Star is broadcasting via live streaming its editorial board interview with Barack Obama.
Obama started speaking to the board moments ago.
You can watch it right here.
More soon.

"Keith Olbermann reportedly said 'Clinton should be
taken into a room, and only the man should emerge':
"What Keith Olbermann said is not symbolic. He flatly said a (male) Democratic super delegate should take Hillary Clinton into a room, and only the man should emerge. Olbermann is openly advocating the murder of Hillary Clinton."
Talk about jumping the shark.
This guy has tossed his career again and should leave again.
Go away with Obama Keith.
Sad and pathetic.

You've finally revealed what a farce you are. I heard that segment last night, and it's stunning that any one over the age of 5 could come to the conclusion that Olbermann implied physically beating up on Clinton.

What's your explanation?
April 25, 2008 4:03 PM | Reply | Permalink
Ever heard of a metaphors?
April 25, 2008 4:12 PM | Reply | Permalink
Yep. There are several other interpretations, all of them metaphorical, such as Hillary is informed that her continued campaign faces strong opposition from the movers and shakers at the DNC and:
1. Commits hara-kiri.
2. Has an emotional breakdown.
3. Is too ashamed to emerge from the room.
4. Remains in the room, seething with anger
The implication is humiliation, not homicide. Poorly spoken? yes. Felonious? nope.
April 25, 2008 9:52 PM | Reply | Permalink
It's a pretty angry thing to say but I don't agree with the columnist's assertion that it's "sexist." On a side note, I thought he was referring to the "other person" just shooting her gangland-style rather than beating her up - it's funny how the more violent operation ends up being less sexist. I don't agree with the columnist retreading the old "imagine if someone said that about OBAMA" line, either - supporters would be ticked in either instance. Fortunately for Keith though, he's been outcrazied by Limbaugh, who's now hoping for riots in the streets of Denver.
April 25, 2008 4:07 PM | Reply | Permalink
Agree, murdering someone usually isn't termed "sexist".

Gotalife that's complete ridiculous bullshit, even for someone as misinformed as you.
Olbermann has stood up for Hillary numerous times. It's only when she turned into Hillamonster that he did what needed to be done and called attention to her loathesome tactics and told her to clean up her act. In typical fashion, she did the exact opposite and sank even lower.

(CNN) – With the North Carolina Democratic presidential primary coming up, the pressure will increase on former North Carolina Senator and Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards to endorse either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.
A formal endorsement from Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, potentially could make a difference in that May 6 primary, especially if they decide to go out and campaign aggressively throughout the state during their final days. Both Edwardses remain very popular among the state’s Democratic base.
There have been intriguing hints that both John and Elizabeth Edwards are leaning in favor of Clinton, but they have avoided any formal announcement. John Edwards has declined most interview requests since dropping out of the presidential contest.
Earlier this month, Elizabeth Edwards, a cancer survivor, said she supports Hillary Clinton’s health care plan over the one put forward by Barack Obama.
“In order to ensure that we have universal coverage, we need to say everybody has to join,” she told ABC News. “So, for that reason, the mandates that Sen. Clinton is talking about, I think are going to be more successful in achieving the goal.”
She added: “I just have more confidence in Sen. Clinton’s policies than Sen. Obama’s on these particular issues.”
Still, she and her husband have stopped short of offering any formal endorsement though some of their former campaign aides also seem to be leaning toward Clinton.
So let’s see if they change their minds and endorse a candidate before the primary. If they do, that could have a real impact.

Forget debates!!! ---- Every voter should watch the candidates answer a series of serious, intelligent questions such as those asked by the editorial board. Not only do you get a better idea of how they think through problems but their interpersonal interactions, body language, etc.
This is very interesting and I believe revealing. Obama and McCain will both sock it out of the park in a format like this (have seen McCain in a town hall - he is excellent). I sort of cringe to think how Clinton would be but would like to see anyway. I'm not sure if her Bush-like "redefinition of reality" would stand up.
April 25, 2008 4:21 PM | Reply | Permalink
Have you actually seen Hillary in the sort of setting you describe?
She's excellent at answering policy questions one-on-one. I'd say she's better than any other politician I can think of, including her husband (who probably comes in second) or Barack Obama (who's in the top ten). She lights up the way Barack lights up when he speaks to a crowd. It's like this is what she went into politics for.
I think it's worth checking out, since it's easy enough for Obama supporters to understand why so many of our Democrats are so devoted to her. Especially when most of the Clinton supporters around here are far too busy saying how much they hate Obama to mention why they like Hillary at all.

I agree completely, it was this very thing (which you don't learn from watching cable news or debates) that gave me pause before voting (okay caucusing) for Edwards back in January. Halfway down this page is an interview with her on a local radio show that shows not only the depths of her policy wonkiness, but her ease with it.
That said, I don't think it helps her get elected as much as it should.

Wolf Blitzer fundamentally misunderstands North Carolina.
An endorsement and campaigning by John and/or Elizabeth Edwards would not assist either Sen. Obama or Sen. Clinton in North Carolina.
The man does not have a political base in this state. Which is why he did not seek reelection in 2004.
April 25, 2008 4:51 PM | Reply | Permalink
I agree with the fundamental premise of your post about John Edwards not having much influence over the NC electorate.
However, some voters in NC - particularly women - will listen to Elizabeth Edwards. I think she has more pull than her husband - especially with health care primarily due to her own health care issues. She has become the "face of cancer" for a lot of folks, so when she speaks - people do pay attention.
But I would be surprised if they endorsed anyone publicly. I too think they are leaning towards Clinton, but don't want to risk being publicly embarrassed if Obama carries the state.
