Obama Camp Robocall Hits Hillary On Guns
There are still more robocalls flying around in Pennsylvania -- and the latest one from the Obama camp hits Hillary on guns, an apparent effort to push back on her criticism of his "small town" remarks about guns and religion.
The call is being pumped into the Pittsburgh area, and it features Obama backer and local sportsman Dick Lanzoni, lambasting Hillary for voting -- unlike Obama -- against an amendment to an appropriations bill banning the confiscation of weapons in emergencies.
"Barack Obama respects our traditions," he says. "Senator Clinton voted to allow guns to be confiscated, and this raises real doubts."
Over the weekend the news broke that Hillary was hitting Obama with a robocall of her own on energy.
Listen to the Obama guns call here.

THIS IS EXCELLENT NEWS!! FOR HILLARY!!!

I got that anti-Obama call. Every time I get a robocall, I start cursing at the phone and then I stop for just half a second because I'm always like "What if it's really Bill!?" But nowadays, even if Bill actually called, my reaction might not be so different. I even went so far as to call the Clinton campaign to tell them to STOP calling me.
It drives me nuts because a) I think I'm more popular than I am, and it makes me sad that no one calls me except robots and b) they're calling my CELL PHONE. Way to waste my minutes, jerks!

So Obama uses negative fear mongering attack mailers saying Hillary's health care plan will garnish your paychecks. Now he trots out another Republican talking point on how Dems [Hillary] wants to take guns away from you. He praises Reagan, and especially the Bush I/Cheney Regime, and claims constantly he wants to bring everyone together, and work with Republicans. And he calls himself a Democrat?
April 21, 2008 3:55 PM | Reply | Permalink
Not just any Democrat - the Democratic nominee for President.
Better get used to it.
April 21, 2008 3:57 PM | Reply | Permalink
The health care ad isn't fearmongering, and she has floated the option of wage garnishment, although she has refused to actually specify how she plans to make her health care plan work. But since she doesn't have any kind of enforcement, wage garnishment is probably her only real option.
Taking guns in times of national emergency isn't a right wing talking point. In fact taking guns in times of emergency (whatever the president decides that should me) would probably be blatantly unconstitutional and HUGELY unpopular. It would be a mess and a half.
He never praised Reagan, and if you actually think his comments were raising Reagan, I'm sorry, but you are an idiot because what he was saying wasn't all that hard to conceptualize for someone with even basic analytical skills.
And he doesn't side with Republicans.
And let's talk about the hypocrisy of you trying to make Obama out to be a Republican while Hillary actually votes with the Republicans on big things like the war, and Iran, and flag burning amendments and then attacks Obama with fearmongering ads straight from Karl Rove. And did Obama endorse McCain over a fellow Democrat? No, that was Hillary, sounds like a Republican to me! I could go on and on, but you are obviously a complete idiot, so I know there is no point in stating the obvious seeing as your head is way too far up Hillary's ass to ever change your ways.

Or how about this video where Rendell accuses young voters who support Obama of being “Kool-Aid” drinkers. He then goes on to praise McCain (@2:45), going against Hillary’s statement that TPM quoted earlier today.
"We need a nominee who will take on John McCain, not cheer on John McCain."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RNGQKTyQE4
If she's going to make statements like that, she needs to keep Rendell from going out and undermining her on it, (not that she hadn't already undermined that argument herself with the "CIC Threshold" comments).

You Clinton supporters seem to be obsessed with this "Obama's just a regular politician" argument. Well, he may not be 100% new, but he's got enough newness to be a heckuva lot more refreshing than the competition. He's new in that he's a Democrat who knows how to run a successful campaign, something Hillary has proven incapable of doing, despite entering the race with every conceivable advantage. If you can't win the Democratic nomination with the last name CLINTON(!), you don't deserve it.

In a stunning move, the duo vow to run a new kind of campaign. They will not mention another candidate, they will not draw any type of contrast. They vow to only talk about themselves, not use advertising, and agree not to use any type of direct contact such as robo-calls or house calls. This is the newest in new of campaigning and they challenge all other candidates to eschew all previous campaign techniques in efforts to make campaigning as pure as ever.
They plan on using love vibes and prayer sessions to communicate.

There is no instance of the government forcing people to buy something from private industry as a condition of being resident in America. Car insurance is not like that; you can live here without a car. And the car insurance industry isn't nearly as corrupt as the health insurance industry. You can sue the car insurers if they screw you over. You in most instances have no legal recourse at all against health insurers. No wonder they're so corrupt. And now Hillary wants to force us all to buy their products.
Obama's right on this one. Forcing people to buy from private firms - firms given special immunity from lawsuits when they screw you - guarantees continuation of the profiteering that makes us spend twice as much per capita as European nations, for a lower life expectancy.

i will give it to tpm...you're certainly not endeavoring to hide your blatant favoritism for obama.
obama puts out a totally misleading robocall that is dubious on its face when it's talking about an amendment to a bill and the amendment allegedly talks about federal emergeny personnel being able to "confiscate" weapons "in an emergency." i don't have to read the amendment and underlying bill to know that, on its face, it sounds logical and plausible and reasonable enough to think that conviscating weapons (as was done in new orleans during katrina) is a means of keeping both emergency personnel and the citizenry at large safe from those who might try to exploit the frenzy and disorentation of an emergeny situation, again something we witnessed in katrina.
the tpm headline: "obama camp robocall: "clinton voted to allow guns to be confiscated." no critical analysis...no characterization of the robocall as true or untrue...no characterization of the candidate as negative or fair.
hillary response to this misleading robocall with a call of her own that is 100% factual and the tpm headline: "harsh hillary pa robocall: obama lied about handgun ban." it's pejorative...it characterizes the candidate as negative...and it's factually wrong because the ad does not say or use the word "lie" but instead uses the much softer and kinder characterization of "not telling the truth."
it's your site and your welcome to run it as you like, but please refrain from EVER AGAIN harassing fox news for somehow being "unfair and unbalanced." you've set a new standard with your consistently open and flagrant biased coverage of the obama-clinton race.
