New Hillary Radio Ad In Pennsylvania Features Army Brass Saying Experience Trumps Charisma
Hillary Clinton reportedly has a new radio ad in Philadelphia, featuring a just barely-concealed dig at Barack Obama.
The ad features retired general and admirals supporting her candidacy — who then hit Obama without directly naming him, by dismissing mere charisma and intellect without a track record.
Here's a Web version of the ad, which the Clinton campaign has told us is using the same basic material:

The essential "truthiness" of the Penn Debacle, though lost on Greg Sargent, should be obvious to most everyone else...
The Chief Strategist of a disastrous campaign is gone, therefore, it follows as night follows day....
[Greg why don't you give it a shot?]

Yup.
Just like Mr. Murtha and Joe Wilson said.
But Obama claims to be a foreign policy expert.
Hahahaha.
Ahhh, now that is funny.

Despite not having as much exaggerated and misremembered/misspoken/never happened experience, he continues to have a greater grasp of that the strenght and experience candidate.
Funny how that works.

Typos galore:
he continues to have a greater grasp of foreign policy matters than the strength and experience candidate.

Hm, yet plenty of experts agree that Obama has better judgment and better knowledge of foreign policy.
Funny how that works.

Clinton's vast foreign policy experience led her to vote for the Iraq War Authorization and the Kyl-Lieberman Amendment. I'll take the guy who was against each of these farces over a proven triangulating fraud any day of the week. So she trusted Bush on Iraq and she did it again on Iran. Unreal.

Hmmm, even though Hillary's experience is nothing but lies this General really wants to go there.
Sigh, he must be operating on the pre Penn departure approved talking points.

I heard this ad on the radio yesterday as I was driving around Rittenhouse Square in Philly, while passing Hillary supporters holding up signs and wearing boxing gloves around their necks. Annoying. My sense based on the polling trends is that Barack will pull out a win in PA though. I'm getting pretty excited for the upcoming primary again.

Only most of your experience seems to be faked, and Obama has more than just charisma.

Yeah, who needs "intellect" when you've been around for a while?
Don Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney...tons of experiences. Not so much with the intellect though, and we know how that worked out.

Who better to remove the sniper threat facing our troops?
With sheer force of will, Hillary Clinton neutralized the attack forces bearing down on Tuzla Bosnia. With the exact same integrity, courage and leadership she has demonstrated about that day, Hillary is ready on Day One to become Commander-in-Chief. She knows the horrors of war. Hillary, and Chelsea, have met the test of the gravitas needed for the presidency.
P.S. Please pay no attention to that black man with the funny name. He just got lucky with the whole Iraq thing.

McCain is a saber rattling War Monger and Senator Hillary Rambo Clinton, The Heroine of Tuzla has endorsed him for Commander in Chief, ahead of fellow Democrat Obama.
Now Hillary Rambo Clinton is engaging in the same scare tactics War Mongering that McCain engages in.
That leaves Senator Obama as the only sane choice remaining who are sick of War Mongers always using War talk to scare us into supporting them.
Hillary and McCain want you to be afraid, be very afraid, where as Senator Obama wants you to know that you have nothing to fear but fear itself. Vote you hopes instead of Hillary's cynical fear mongering.
Hillary is the New Lieberman.

Honesty and Believability trumps all.
Penn is obviously still in charge.
Hey, wasn't he on the conference call, and you forgot to report it?

so much for some restraint and a better tone since Texas. Ill give good odds that part of this was to try to change the subject from Mark Penn and Tax returns (same with olympic comment)

I think this is valid normal campaign stuff from the Clintons. She is allowed to run as the "experienced" candidate.
That doesn't mean that we can't make fun of her about the whole Bosnia thing. The sniper incident is so damaging to Clinton because it instantly marginalizes her when she brings up the experience argument.
Being laughed at is much worst than being hated in politics. Just as Dukakis.

I wish it were true that experience trumps charisma, but in politics we have often seen the reverse. Bush defeated Gore. Bush defeated Kerry. People liked Bush. He was a "plain talker". In other words, people are not all that bright, and they could understand Bush, even if Bush couldn't understand himself. Remember, the average IQ in America is 100. That means that half the population has an IQ lower than 100. That means that charisma can easily trump experience. That is why Obama could win. That is why I am worried.

Why is that funny, exactly? Do be specific, and provide actual facts.

Someone please list Hillary's so-called experience.
Telling and re-telling a sniper fire lie doesn't count. The lying part didn't bother me as much as the SMILING during the telling did. I've never met anyone that talked about being shot at that had that strange smile on their face. My high school boyfriend went to Bosnia after graduation and the details he recounted had more to do with the despairing poverty the people there suffered.
Hillary's only experience is having enjoyed the white house lifestyle on taxpayers dime. If Hillary gets to co-opt Bill's resume onto her own... then I get to list my husband's previous experience and skills onto mine.

[really scary music in background]
It's 3pm in the White House when the red phone rings...

Hillary's attempts at her Commander in Chief arguments are getting to the point of being comical. Between her sniper fire Tuzla Gate lies and her latest whammy that she spoke out against the Iraq War before Obama (which even if you ignore Obama's anti-Iraq war speech and that she actually voted to go to war and accepted her 2005 starting point she is still lying)...you would think that she would get back to talking about Health care (oh wait she got busted telling a totally false health care horro story nevermind) or the Economy.
She is making a fool of herself now and I'm almost starting to pity her.

All that so-called "experience" of hers would simply be laughed at by the McCain camp; the Dem candidate has to stake out his own playing field, not try to beat the Republican on his.
I'm just curious how she's managing to produce new ads when she's not paying for the old ones.

According to the tax returns, she's got a few bucks to put back into the campaign to fund a few more commercials. We just wouldn't hear about another "loan" to the campaign until they have to report again.

Herbert Hoover, Bush One, Cheney and Rumsfeld had great resumes and all the experience that any one could ask for. How did they apply their vast experiences to the problems they encountered.
Hillary has had two decades of experience making a dog's vomit out of Health Care reform. How is that supposed to make her qualified for anything other than a "heck of a job Browny" award!
Look at how Hillary screwed up the Travel Office staffing assignment, and turned it into a raging scandal.
Hillary has a lot of experience, mostly of the mal kind.
We can not afford to elect a chronic malpracticer, as Hillary's experience clearly demonstrates.
Say no to one who is a very experienced screw-up.
Mark Penn, Mark Penn, Mark Penn,
A fine example of how Hillary applied her experience and judgment.

One three star who spent his entire career as an engineer and was recommended for promotion and appointed head of the Corp of Engineers by Bill. One one four star with a relatively distinguished career but who owed his third and fourth stars to Bill.
And a squad of one and two stars who were retired under the military's up-or-out system.
Woo hoo. That is impressive.

Yes, experience does trump charisma.
But that's not the right argument. Hillary
once again grabs on to the straw man.
Hillary's experience, as we're all learning, is more of a myth than reality. While Mr. Obama
does, of course, have charisma, he also has better judgement than Hillary, is calmer under pressure than Hillary, and appears to be smarter than Hillary.
So, the edge goes to Mr. Obama.

Wouldn't it be retro cool if we could once again live in a representative democracy where the people were expected to govern themselves instead of being ordered around by the military brass and their chickenhawk suck ups.

If Cheney and Bush and Rumsfeld had some charisma and intellect to go with their experience Iraq would have never happened.
I am afraid those retired Generals and Officers are short changing Hillary and the public by implying that experience beats intellect and charisma. These characteristics complement each other and would work best in unison. It is amazing how much more charisma and intellect can achieve beyond the wildest dreams of experience however.
This current administration proves that this is not the case. These Generals and Officers are being openly dishonest. This explains why they are supporting Hillary I suppose.

If Senator Clinton really believes that experience trumphs charisma, she obviously voted for George Bush Sr. over her husband in 1992. Or she has a serious problem with double-standards. Gee, I wonder which it is. ;-)

I believe Sen. Clinton is ranked 19th in seniority on the Senate Armed Services committee so I'm not sure how her 5 years on the committee is somehow some cracker jack prize of a resume. What the hell is Sen. Clinton going to say in the general election against McCain -- she's got 5 years on the Armed Services Committee? He's got more time as a POW then she has planting her fern in a leather chair on a committee AND he's got more time on the same committee.
