McCain Defends Campaign E-Mail Linking Obama To Hamas
So much for John McCain's promise of a "civil" campaign. In a conference call with bloggers today, McCain defended his campaign's fundraising e-mail declaring that Hamas wants Barack Obama to win.
"All I can tell you Jennifer [Rubin] is that I think it's very clear who Hamas wants to be the next president of the United States," McCain said. "So apparently has Danny Ortega and several others. I think that people should understand that I will be Hamas's worst nightmare ... If Senator Obama is favored by Hamas I think people can make judgments accordingly."

The media response? Crickets. They are convinced McCain is a hero who can do nothing but run a respectful campaign.

I think Osama bin Laden wants McCain to win, so that the U.S. will stay in Iraq and Afghanistan forever. Same reason he released a tape in 2004, just before the Bush-Kerry election.

Gee, this isn't a tried and true Republican campaign tactic or anything.
I can't wait for the debates between Obama and Himmary.
That is going to be worth the price of admission. I hope Himmary turns beet red, starts foaming at the mouth and takes a swing at Obama.
He's capable of it.

Maybe b/c this is total BS?
Note that the original source doesn't have any link to Obama whatsoever, just spreading BS. I could go to Colombia and tell them that Obama is going to win (since, well, he is) and that he doesn't support the free trade agreement (since, well, he doesn't). I don't know what his stance is on Plan Colombia, but I could tell them anything.

It'll be fun watch McCain lose his last few shreds of decency as the campaign wears on. I watch this with a little bit of sadness. I registered as a Republican in 2000 to vote for McCain in the primaries. Had he won then, and still held to his semi-sane economic views, I would still be a Republican. Funny how I have to thank Bush for my becoming a Democrat.

the one and only thing that Bush has done right in his entire stinking life is to turn my 6th generation Republican husband into a straight ticket Democrat.
And he talked his mother, who just cannot bring herself to vote for a Democrat, into staying home and not voting. She's 86 - it's the responsible thing to do.
Although, she's making pro-Obama noises lately!

I agree. I don't a Kerry presidency would have resulted in a Democratic Congress in 2006. The Republicans had to screw up on unprecedented level, and be the only ones to blame, for us to get control of the legislative branch.
I think the greatest damage Bush has wrought (politically), has been to turn voters under 30 into Democrats (or leaners) in overwhelming numbers. If we can hold onto this youth bloc till they turn 30, they're extremely likely to remain Democrats for life. Plus, by making Republicans more reliant on the homophobic/racist/dominionist segment, that allows Democrats to move further to the left without ceding much ground.

Boy that's the truth - and it's tricky business holding on to young voters because they respond best to extremism of one form or another, IMO.
I think that's one reason so many went over to the far right - that and a reaction by the generation against the one before it.

Moose49:
I'm giving you full credit for the initial insight that surely will launch a winning retort from Obama. He'll soon be saying, Al Queda wanted George Bush for president and is for McCain, because they create the conditions for massive Al Queda recruiting. McCain's "100 years in Iraq" policy equals a million Al Queda recruits and a 20 percent increase in the likelyhood some of our cities will be attack again.
April 25, 2008 1:22 PM | Reply | Permalink
Thank you and of course you are absolutely right that Bush has been and McSame would be the best recruiters al Qaeda could ever dream of.
However, what I was trying to do was remind people of McCain's continued inability to distinguish between Sunnis and Shiites, and his repeated error of saying that Iran has been helping al Qaeda. McCain's utter (willful?) ignorance was brought home again the other day when al Qaeda attacked Iran for spreading the myth that Israel was responsible for 9/11 because Shiites would never give Sunnis proper credit for their atrocities.

Is Obama, Nancy Kerrigan?
Outside of the idea that Hillary is still in this nearly unwinnable race just so she can set herself up for a 2012 election (which is unlikely being that shes pissing off a good part of the base that wouldn't vote for her in 2012), another idea came to me for why she's kneecapping Obama.
The one issue that McCain and Hillary have in common is a proven track record to support Israel and be hawkish on Iran. Although Obama has significant support of the Jewish community and has been pretty Pro-Israel, the Pro-Israel lobby is still concerned that he may be somewhat sympathetic to Palestinians (ala the LA Times article), and his loyalty to Israel hasn't been proven through multiple years in government. So is Hillary kneecapping Obama for the Pro-Israel lobby, because McCain would be able to attack Obama in the eyes of Republicans, but he wouldn't be able to in the eyes of Dems ....

I know we're all supposed to be shocked and terrified if any people McCain doesn't like express any acceptance of Obama, but . . . Personally, if our enemies think there is someone who they think they might be able to work out a peace agreement with, I think that's probably better then McCain running bare chested through the jungle yelling kill the buggers. I'm not at all convinced that the way to heal the world is to kill 'em all. Last week during a speech in New Mexico, Mikhail Gorbachev said that the United States seems to want war with the whole world and he expressed hope for different leadership to come with the new president. Guess what, it will be more of the same if it's John McCain. I'm not willing to have endless war with McCain. Thank you for your brave service John, but no more war so no presidency.

Noun - terrorism - the calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear.
So in effect mcslime is saying there will be violence if Obama becomes President. Isn't he in fact using the threat of violence to affect the election.
Isn't he in fact a terrorist in saying this?

I think it would be a pretty tough call for who Hamas wants to win this election. On one hand, Obama is more likely to pursue an equitable peace settlement, since he won't be beholden to people who want Israel to expand to bring about Armageddon. And thanks in part to the Bushies, Hamas is in charge of the Palestinian government so they would reap the rewards of movement toward peace.
On the other hand, the Bushies' blundering and warmongering have vastly improved Hamas' position, and McCain's rhetoric promises more of the same, so they might continue to gain power. Hmmm...

It makes his personality a campaign issue and images of him engaging Sen. Grassley in a shoving match can't be far behind. The straight talk express ran into the ditch on the very first turn.
