Hillary, Obama Both Pick Up Super-Delegates

Hillary picks up a Pennsylvania super-delegate, former Pittsburgh Mayor Sophie Masloff, her second in the state since Rep. John Murtha endorsed her last month.

Meanwhile, the Obama camp says he's nabbed another super-del of his own today: Utah Democratic Party Chair Wayne Holland.

As of right now, CNN's super-delegate count says Hillary has 243 and Obama has 215, though it's unclear whether that includes today's new announcements.

If this becomes an SD battle, I think I will go mad or just move to Mexico.

San Miguel looks better and better these days.

Wrong direction.

You have to think forward. With Global Warming, Canada will be the new economy. Might as well move there now before everyone else.

DemConWatch says Obama has 221 superdelegates to Clinton's 244 superdelegates.

Now now, you know that website doesn't use the numbers most convincing for Hillary's arguments. Who cares if they have documentation for each and every Super Delegate that they post as declared.

Facts are so yesterday.

The 215 does not include today's. The 215th Superdelegate (according to CNN) was Knobuchar. (I've been watching the CNN tally closely for some time.)

I think this pulls Hillary back up to the superdelegate count she had on Feb 5. She was in negative territory because of superdels who switched to Obama. Obama is +72 or so since Feb 5.

I think she is still in the Neg, she lost a DC endorsement this week as well.

demconwatch's latest doesn't include these changes, yet. I haven't bothered with CNN for a while, demconwatch seems so much better.

Asinine AP item in today's Oregonian: "the road to the nomination got a bit harder this week--at least for Barack Obama." Then it notes the Jackie Speier addition to Hillary's side (ie addition of ONE superd-WTF?), and does not mention the recent overall trend. It also helpfully (Ickes-ily) defines superd's as "the party and elected officials who *automatically* attend the national convention"

Obama's getting some other endorsements today in Pennsylvania too:

They're not superdelegates but having a big group like this come out together makes it worth a mention.

It is worth a mention - I'm happy to see this. She's favored in Pa. so anything he can pick up there is generally a good thing. Depending on who it is, of course.

:)

Senator Empty Suit, he can write two books about his "life" yet forget to mention he visited Pakistan for three weeks in the 80's. Hum...convenient memory loss or just the passport issue?

Are you always so off-topic, Mr. Plain Vanilla?

Gee, and I forgot to mention that I went diving in Oman five years ago. BFD.

Time for Obama supporters to revive the theme that winning with superdelegates is somehow dirty. What we need to do is revise the rules. No more superdelegates. No more caucuses. The primaries should be conducted state by state on a uniform basis, and should be done strictly by popular vote. Oops. That would favor Hillary. Never mind.
