Gibson: Why Not Just Agree To Share A Ticket, Already?
The debate's underway. ABC's Charlie Gibson quotes former New York governor Mario Cuomo, and asks the two Dems: Why not just agree to share a ticket, already?
Needless to say, neither candidate directly answered; Obama says it's premature; Hillary promises that no matter who wins the nomination, Dems will unify, yadda, yadda, yadda.
In response, Gibson allows: "I don't think Governor Cuomo has any takers yet."
And he never will.
We're blogging the debate right here.

It was only three months ago that I was happy to have either of these two as a candidate.
I am now truly sick of Hillary Clinton.

2014: Regarding his quote in SF. Obama is explaining but clearly he doesn’t get it. He still insists, but without the word cling, that folks hold to religion and all out of frustration. Nothing about embrace by choice.
2017 Why can’t Clinton simply state, “No, Obama cannot beat McCain.” It is disingenuous to state that he can be McCain.

I think he did a good job explaining what he meant in SF; it's not about being religious or owning a gun, it's about focusing on that to the exclusion of focusing on issues that affect standard of living.

Ooooo - I likes it. I really likes it.

God, what a terrible way to start the debate! I've got two words for Charlie Gibson - and to Mario Cuomo, too - "Hell, no!"
And what's with letting Hillary answer twice? They started off with the 'bitter' comment to Obama, then lobbed a softball question to Hillary - and also let her reply to Obama's reply - and now they're back to the Wright question to Obama? What kind of hatchet job is this? I can't wait for the next question to Hillary Clinton, "What makes you so wonderful?"
So far, the moderators seem to be horribly biased.

Oh puh-lease. As Senator Obama said, he has written specifically about the need to embrace faith. You know, his best-seller?
Obama matches up against McCain far better than Hillary per all the current polls. So stop imaging that he can't beat McCain. Although it certainly is interesting that you directly infer that Hilary is lying. That speaks volumes.
Hate is something you obviously learned from someone. Stop spreading it like Republicans do. Assuming you are not one which is a big assumption.

well, we're a half hour in, and there hasn't been one word about any issue. good going ABC.
April 16, 2008 8:30 PM | Reply | Permalink
Indeed. This is absolutely the worst debate yet by far. Charlie (who ought to know better) and especially George are simply trying to get them to squabble over each other while avoiding asking issue-oriented questions dealing with the wretched economy, health care or Iraq. ABC ought to be ashamed of itself. But of course they won't be. At 8:36 pm, kudos to Senator Obama for trying to steer the question back to the issues that matter to Americans...Republicans and Democrats. Not media talking heads like George and Charlie.
Arrgh...the wretched "American flag question". What an incredibly stupid question from Latrobe! Honestly, I sometimes wonder if there ought to be a basic intelligence test for people before they are allowed to vote. Obama is right, it is a completely manufactured issue based on divisiveness and has no bearing on the issues that affect the country.
