CBS/NYT Poll: Obama Narrowly Leads Hillary
A new CBS/New York Times poll shows Barack Obama continuing to narrowly lead Hillary Clinton among Democratic primary voters nationwide, with no changes at all since last month: Obama 46%, Clinton 43%.
And for the general election match-ups:
Obama (D) 47% (-1)
McCain (R) 42% (-1)
Clinton (D) 48% (+2)
McCain (R) 43% (-1)
A key finding of the poll: 58% of whites say Jeremiah Wright's statements have had no effect on their opinion of Barack Obama, compared to 41% of whites who say they now think less of him. It we assume that many of those 41% were probably McCain voters to begin with, it would appear that the Wright controversy hasn't hurt Obama too badly — at least for now.

"at least for now"? Was that really needed?

"At least for now"
Couldn't resist, eh, Eric? Be sure to warn us all that the candidate who is going to win the nomination isn't up to snuff. Good ole Clinton's Talking Points Memo.

In fact, that added clause sounds downright aspirational.
WTF is this sort of thing about? I really can't believe that the writer meant to sneak in a subversive point. There are too many people here on the lookout for that sort of thing. It must be a compulsion. That sort of thing really does seem unworthy of the site -- and not just because it's against my candidate. I prefer upfront (what used to be called, inaccurately, "manly") honesty in such matters, whether I agree or disagree.

It's clear who Eric's rooting for here.

I think the rude reporters hounding the church goers and the death threats to the church will help him out. Funny, how Josh and the Times have different takes on this poll. The bias is fascinating to read.
Anyhoo, Clinton is on Leno.
Back to your regular scheduled I agree, Obama is great, ditto, blah, blah, blah.

Gotalife is increasingly saying more and more things that make sense. How soon before we stop calling him a troll?
I'm a cruel person.
Why hasn't Obama gone back on the Daily Show yet? Why hasn't he gone on the Colbert Report yet? I would love to see Colbert turn this whole Wright/Muslim/Flag Pin shtick into comedic gold.
Colbert IS America(And So Can You!)

What the fuck does that mean?

It's Eric's classic "concern trollness", sort of like what Republicans do.

Take a deep breath, everything's going to be OK. Eric doesn't have a vendetta against your preferred candidate...

goatlife doesn't give a shit about Clinton or Obama. He just likes jerking you people's chains. And he succeeds every time. Just ignore that chucklehead.

Eric,
Do you have really have a problem with Obama being black ? I come to TPM for good posts and analysis and for progresive bolgging.
Most of your poll analyses have unnecessary Obama snarks while downplaying Hillary's shortcomings.
If you cannot keep bias out of your posts, it is better not to post at all and reveal your bigotry.

Thanks you for one of the clearest examples of echo chamber thought that I've seen. Eric says something that you consider deviant thinking about Obama, and you immediately accuse him of bigotry. This is, of course, how Obama himself turned the discussion of Wright's remarks from patriotism to race. At least for now.

I haven't read TPM Election Central for weeks. This is why.
You guys aren't up to Josh's standard -- at least for now.

Let the whining begin. If you guys don't stop whining, Eric and I are going to have to run you off.

Once again, Eric, you have nailed the denizens of the echo chamber in the middle of their tiny brains. Quite a feat of marksmanship! I can barely hear myself type for the wailing. You have to stop suggesting that patriotism might continue to be an issue at some point in this campaign or in the general election. The echo chamber needs to be able to howl in surprise and rage if the subject comes up in the next debate. Meanwhile, the Republican 527s are floating teaser ads of a black prophetic minister howling god damn America while bodies fall from the WTC. The echo chamber, who see everything that hits the web within a day, if not an hour, are way beyond all that garbage. They can't conceive of the fact that the rest of America hasn't even seen it yet. At least for now.

Actually, Eric and Greg are following Josh's lead on the Wright issue. Read his posts on the TPM homepage- Josh thinks Wright is a huge problem for Obama in the fall.

In that same poll, Obama's favorability rating dropped by 8 points!
I wonder why? What happened?
