Bill On Obama And The Debate: You Didn't Hear Hillary "Whining"

Obama isn't the only pol using last night's debate to his advantage. On the trail today, Bill Clinton waded into the skirmish over ABC's performance, pointing to the loud complaining coming from Obama backers in order to rally his own wife's supporters:

"When I watched that debate last night, I got kinda tickled," the former President said at an American Legion Hall event in St. Mary's, Pennsylvania, "After the [debate], her opponents', oh, the people working were saying, 'Oh this is so negative, why are they doing this.' Well they've been beatin' up on her for 15 months. I didn't hear her whining when he said she was untruthful in Iowa or called her the senator from Punjab."

"And, you know, they said some pretty rough things about me, too. But you know, this is a contact sport. If you don't want to play, keep your uniform off," Clinton told a loudly cheering crowd.

"I always get the first question . . . "
"Did you see last week's Saturday Night Live?"

THAT isn't whining???

You know, whenever you hear Bill use the word "tickled," a big, fat piece of bullshit is sure to follow.

I believe she whined about other things in that debate as well. I'm almost used to Bill "misspeaking" by now.

What whining? Poor old pump-head Bill.

user-pic

How about another clip of Obama laughing and lightheardedly brushing off his shoulders today followed by a video of Bill talking about 'whining' today. It would provide a reality check for anyone vulnerable to Bill's now limp, eh, limp rhetoric.

user-pic

grrrr, 'lightheartedly'

Please someone put him out of his misery. Put him out to pasture. At best, he's a footnote in history -- unless history chooses to pay attention to the Monica Lewinsky debacle. But let's face it, this isn't a guy who took acourageous stance on anything. He didn't stand tall on Little Rock, he didn't finger the military industrial complex, he didn't face the Russians down in Cuba, he didn't push civil Rights through, he didn't make peace with China. Okay he balanced the budget and there was a dotcom boom during his tenure and easy money. And we all liked him okay. But historically, he's the guy who got the blowjob. Get him off the stage before he makes his legacy even worse. He's coming off like a buffoon.

But let's face it, this isn't a guy who took acourageous stance on anything.

Lest we forget...

"I always get the first question . . . "
"Did you see last week's Saturday Night Live?"

THAT isn't whining???

You mean this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kNbaCKYaPI

Seriously. I've lost all respect for him. I guess whining DURING the debate, or sending your surrogates to whine after the debate, doesn't count? This guy's performance over the past few months threatens to really color my recollection of the 90s.

user-pic

Hey Greg, next time you post this, how about adding context like the fact that Hillary complained about getting the first question DURING A DEBATE ITSELF!!!!!

I'm pretty sure she whined in THIS debate about not getting enough time (because all of those gotcha questions were being thrown at Obama).

user-pic

No, it was Gibson who whined for her:

Gibson, "I'm getting a little out of balance here [a cue to its Hillary's turn to comment on Wright]";

Gibson, later, "And Senator Clinton, I'm getting out of balance in terms of time. You're getting shortchanged here.";

and Gibson, even later, "Very quickly here because I owe Senator Clinton time, but yeah [saying this to Obama], you want to respond...."

I didn't hear her whining

he should listen to his wife. She's whined plenty in this primary!

He should be happy about the debate, they didn't bring up his work for Columbia, or question his lies about when his wife lied, etc

user-pic

He's married to her, he's naturally tuned out the whining...

I laughed at this, but please do not tell my wife that I admitted as much...

when bill and ill are together it's usually bill who whins

when bill and hill are together it's usually bill who dose whining.

She whined on a question about illegal immigration.

Not whining?

"Can I just point out in the last several debates, I seem to get the first question all the time, and I don’t mind, I’ll be happy to field them. I just find it curious that I keep getting the first question on all the issues."
user-pic

Hillary is the queen of whiners.

She's played the victime card thousands of times.

hilary has been whining thru out her campaign

next youtube we'll probably see: bill saying this crap, hillary whining. bill on tuzla, hillary on tuzla. let's see it.

"I have to say Senator Clinton looked in her element … She was taking every opportunity to get a dig in there,” Obama said Thursday in Raleigh, N.C. “That’s her right. That’s her right to kind of twist the knife a little bit … that’s why she’s only airing negative attacks on TV in Pennsylvania like most places. I understand that because that’s the textbook Washington game.”

Well, boo hoo!

user-pic

Actually if you watch the video of that exchange Obama isn't whining. It is quite Hill-areous actually. I love the part where he brushes off his shoulder and the crowd goes nuts.

user-pic

"When I watched that debate last night, I got kinda tickled,"

yeah, 45 minutes without a policy question, that's the kind of debate the clintons want. they can have it.

Yeah...apparently Bill Clinton thinks that it is HILARIOUS that the American people aren't getting the answers that we deserve about important issues like the economy, Iraq, gas prices, etc.

This is a losing argument for Bill right now...but once again he is helping Obama out.

user-pic

Economy schmeconomy!

It's FLAG PINS, damnit! George Steph. says that's what care about. Anyone who doesn't care about FLAG PINS obviously hates America!

And, as Sam Stein pointed out, neither Gibson nor Stephanopoulos were wearing their lapel pins.

Not Whining?

"If anybody saw Saturday Night Live . . . maybe we should ask Barack if he's comfortable and needs another pillow."
user-pic

He was whining because they didn't give him a pillow.

Merle, your avatar is scary.

Over the line!

Merle's avatar is scary? What about yours Genghis?! Guys pointing guns pretty much state right up front that they have no intellectual power, so they resort to fire power.

Oooh, scary.

But a four-eyed sweetie-pie with a big delicious smile? Oh, you know you're about to be completely dismantled with superior wit and have your pea brain pushed right down the barrel of that magnum; and out it will come, reconfigured as a flag: "pop!"

Now that's scary!

Because she hasn't complained about debates this campaign season???

WHAT PLANET ARE THESE PEOPLE FROM?

new clinton attack. he's a whiner. let's see how that works.

just words. just whines.

Not whining?

"Nobody would like it better than us if you could get that personal vilification out of there, because nobody’s been vilified more than we have," he said, after noting that he thought Hillary and McCain could run a respectful campaign. "One of the problems with laying down and turning the other cheek is McCain had one dose of it. They gave it to us for eight years.

"And the fact of the matter is, independent voters think you’re polarizing if someone else attacks you, even if that someone is Rush Limbaugh, even if you’ve been totally exonerated of every single charge ever leveled against you, which Hillary was — and some people forgot to tell you about that," he said, jabbing again at the press.

user-pic

The victim card is, quite frankly, all she's had to play for weeks.

And I seem to remember Bill saying something not long ago about "it's okay to pick on the girl" ('cause it's okay to refer to a sixty year old US Senator and presidential candidate as a "girl" when you're trying to raise money and votes by whining).

Gracious! I was never a great fan of Pres Clinton, especially during his administration, but he did start to clean up his act and put on a good show in his post-presidential years. It is a shame to see him make such a buffoon of himself and destroy all of that good will that he had built up in the wake of the 2005 tsunami. Needless to say, he sounds like a man totally disconnected from reality in the above quote.

user-pic

I actually was a fan, but never lost sight of his huge ego and self-centeredness. One of the reasons I was slower than my 'spheric brethren and sistren to jump on the anti-MoDo bandwagon was that, for all her flaws, she is inside the head of two politicians: Bubba and Dumbya. And Bill Clinton is, when you strip it all away, an enormously talented, well-intentioned narcissist who is incapable of taking responsibility for anything that goes wrong, and thinks the sun shines out of his arse.

user-pic

Who needs good will when you have 109 million dollars?

Barry is a crybaby as are his supporters. Lackluster, boring, failed to answer questions, just dreadful last night. Barry can't make it in the big time. Loser, Barry O.

user-pic

Hillary has already lost, you might as well go back to Little Green Footballs, there is nothing more you can do here.

You Hillbots are just jealous because our candidate is just plain more likeable than yours.

And if last night proves nothing else, likeability certainly counts for something - cuz it certainly wasn't about issues.

if you insert "Hilly" in there you might be on to something..

idiot..

user-pic

You know, MP, it has to bother you at some level that all your infantile tittering can't do a darned thing to save Hillary.

She has lost the primary, and there's nothing you can do about it. Tell us how that makes you feel.

Come to think of it, I think you already do, with every post.

Hey, its doing wonders for his candidate. You're obviously laboring under the mistaken impression he's a Hillary supporter.

Take a look at that avatar, the throwback to the McCarthy era redbaiting and incorporation of the the talking point from the current "spontaneous" email buzzing around among the old crazy people with AOL acocunts ("he's a socialist or a comma'nist or somethin'"), and ask yourself what party he's really in.

DLC Democrat my ass.

it always comes around to him doesn't it.

President Clinton is the man!

Brilliant.

That is what I am talking about.

Are you saying Hillary hasn't whined about previous debates?

user-pic

Goat droppings....

specially when he's gettin some head...

She also has nothing to loose by this kind of crap. Obama has a general election coming up, and having a major news organization basically stamp the RNC logo on their entire debate can be pretty annoying.
two side notes:
1. I wouldn't be supprised if this is a long term net financial loss for ABC. Sure it was the most highly viewed debate this year, but if that means that Obama is less willing to agree to as many future debates, this could hurt their bottom line. Then they would in the future be pressured to ask legitamate questions that matter. Also, this is not good for their image (especially with the democratic party).
2. With regards to the not whining comment.. WTF? Her entire campaign has been one extended whine about unfair media treatment, caucuses, states with black people, Obama outspending. Furthermore, the last month has basically been a drawn out "Waaaaaaa... I didn't win, so screw this other guy!" Is Bill Clinton trying to wipe the LewinskyGate slate clean by forcing people to remember him as one giant self-parody machine rather than just that creepy jackass who all but handed the presidency, congress and senate to the Republicans?

Bill, you're a disgrace. And I say that as someone who stood by you when absolutely all of the shit was hitting that (in retrospect: your fan). The scales have fallen from mine eyes:

President Clinton: you're a bloviating, hypocritical, immoral gasbag who is more than happy to spend your ill-gotten millions in a self-defeating attempt to take down the candidate (from your own goddamn party) who has the cojones to point out (tactfully, elliptically) that, at best, you were a decent center-right president.

I'm sorry that doesn't make your narcissistic visions of greatness, President Clinton. But then again, neither we nor Senator Obama put a gun to your head and asked you to fuck up the mandate we gave you (twice) in the 90s.

Good bye and good riddance.

He is very, very far beneath contempt.

user-pic

"That is what I am talking about"

I'm sorry, but could you define what you mean when you use the word "is?"

Clarification is always nice.

I can't believe I ever respected that man or his wife.

Does anyone honestly think a Clinton administration won't end up being a Democratic version of the Bush administration? Clinton is equally as shameless and power hungry and after last night clearly as Republican.

Does anyone honestly think a Clinton administration won't end up being a Democratic version of the Bush administration?

Well, for whatever it is worth, I do not think that. On the other hand, I think that the first Clinton administration, while better than I gave it credit for at the time, set the stage for the Bush administration. Gore ran on a record of 8 years of unprecedented peace and prosperity - he should have been a sure-win, just like Bush was after Reagan. Instead, the excesses of the Clinton adminstration left so sour a taste in the mouths of so many voters that an obvious incompetant like George W Bush was able to rise to the Oval Office simply by virtue of seeming unlike Clinton. I dare say that if we put another Clinton in the office, we would end up, once again, seeing that administration followed by the worst sort of Republican, because the same cycle of Clinton-fatigue would set in all over again and the national history would read like the sequel to Groundhog Day.

The big problem with them is the way they make it up as they go along. I don't think the country, in the total mess it's in, way worse than after Reagan, way worse than after NIXON, can survive four years of improvisational theatre. There will be a learning curve with Obama. But he's starting from a center that's steady. He isn't the candidate who presents with symptoms of multiple personality disorder.

But then. . . we already knew that Bill doesn't pay much attention to his wife, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised that he hasn't heard all of her whining.

user-pic

Uhh, Bill, it was Hillary's campaign that provided the "Senator from Punjab" memo to the New York Times.

You're right. He's losing it. She did coin the name, though Obama's campaign did take her to task for the reason she coined it, and lest we forget what it was all about:

"The Clintons have reaped significant financial rewards from their relationship with the Indian community, both in their personal finances and Hillary’s campaign fundraising. Hillary Clinton, who is the co-chair of the Senate India Caucus, has drawn criticism from anti-offshoring groups for her vocal support of Indian business and unwillingness to protect American jobs. Bill Clinton has invested tens of thousands of dollars in an Indian bill payment company, while Hillary Clinton has taken tens of thousands from companies that outsource jobs to India. Workers who have been laid off in upstate New York might not think that her recent joke that she could be elected to the Senate seat in Punjab is that funny."

For more, here's the link:
http://blogs.chicagotribune.com/news_columnists_ezorn/2007/06/dpunjab_funny_d.html

And I'll give you one guess who said this:

"We should have a good debate that uses accurate information, not false, misleading and discredited information, especially on something as important as whether or not we will achieve quality, affordable health care for everyone."

Good for Bill! The whining and crying of the Obama Cult and even their Dear Leader himself is a lot of killing the messenger complaints that only reflect poorly on all of them. The questions asked last night were long overdue and if not asked now, will be asked later in the election. What came out last night is that Obama is not ready for primetime and has some incredibly serious electability issues. As Bill noted, if he's not ready to play, he should pack it in and go home.

It is interesting that Obama attempted to diss Clinton today by saying that she "looked in her element" last night at the debate. How true, she looked like a winning candidate.

ABC hosted one of the best debates so far. There we no fluff questions last night. Kudos to George Stephanopoulos and Charles Gibson!

BTW, do you all realize how pathetic it is to see the comments of the Obama Cult here, so shocked by Obama's inability to handle the questioning. Consider several of your most comments, even disparaging TPM's Greg Sargent for a post:

Flufferwink: Staphyloccus can go screw himself. Elsewhere: Fuck you, George

Liam about Clinton: Like a hog in it's favorite wallowing mud pit! Elsewhere: Aryan Nation Troll…

MNPundit about Stephanopoulos: Yeah, I'm pissed at that puff-haired slime ball

Moose49 about Stephanopoulos: What a douchebag.
Mimaqueen: Delusional. Delusional. Delusional. Delusional. Delusional. What planet does his ass live on?

Shine: Incorrect Mein Fuhrer. And: Regarding Taylor Marsh: Probably won't care since they are too old the bear children and too ugly to have sex.

Lestatdelc about Greg Sargent: Are you fucking shitting me? Drink some more GOP faux patriot cool-aide Greg, ya fuck nut.

Biff diggerence to George: On Sunday, have acrobatic coitus with Cokie while George Will watches.

JennOfArk: I have to hand it to Snuffleupagus. Most people wouldn't be able to speak nearly as clearly or use such big words while having a mouth full of Republican penis.

Angry Liberal: Fuck you, George!

LeroyS on Clinton: Bride Of Frankenstein In A Pantsuit

Hrebendorf: George Stephanopoulos is a creepy little pimp.

Overall, very immature and defining of the the Obama Cult.

TROLL UNITY '08!!!!!!!

Is Bill telling the truth here? Hillary hasn't complained about previous debates this campaign? Hmm?

What came out last night is that Obama... has some incredibly serious electability issues.

And yet he keeps beating her. What exactly does that say? If he is unelectable, and she cannot even win against him, then does that not imply that she is even more unelectable? Surely, after all, the real means by which one proves oneself electable is by winning elections, and he is doing that far more frequently than she is.

user-pic

Eloquently put, Greg. And pretty hard to argue against.

The irrefutable logic of Greg's observation will not prevent many of the trolls from challenging it, however.

Touché.

"The questions asked last night were long overdue and if not asked now, will be asked later in the election."

Questions about flag pins and clumsy guilt by associations were long overdue? What exactly are you freebasing?

"What came out last night is that Obama is not ready for primetime and has some incredibly serious electability issues."

What came out last night is Gib and Steph are hacks of Bill Laimbeer proportions - more concerned with "gotcha" questions that legitimate questions americans care about. The only people concerned with William Ayers, are inept pundits, republicans, and bottom-feeding Hillary supporters.

"As Bill noted, if he's not ready to play, he should pack it in and go home."

This coming from the guy who kept claiming that "the boys" were piling on - that's rich. I voted for him twice, but he has consistently come across like a drunken fratboy, or a retarded stroke victim.

"It is interesting that Obama attempted to diss Clinton today by saying that she "looked in her element" last night at the debate. How true, she looked like a winning candidate."

She only looks like a winning candidate if your name is Stevie Wonder - more states won, more delegates, the popular vote. How embarrassing. lol

Whatever. June 3rd it will all be over. No more Clintons to kick around (except those of us in NY State).

Say whatever you want Bill.

You are right cswartout;
We will have Clinton to kick around-and we will do it.

I will help organize a national campaign to unseat her.

I already posted this before-we will find a popular progressive local candidate and tap into Obama's supporters along with MoveOn and others to put the last Clinton out to pasture for good!

Imagine how good everything will look. . . President Obama in the White House. . . and NO MORE Clintons to foul the scene!

Go Obama 2008 & 2012!!!!!!

As everyone else pointed out, we did hear HER whining very loudly. Literally whining. Not supporters, but her!

Go away Bill.

I'd hate to see Hillary with her uniform off.

Gotta, love Bill C! One man's poisonous politics is another man's whining! Cute.

Stop whining indeed. Of course that will never happen. But we can Dream and Hope.

Excellent point by the Great president of Peace and Prosperity. Obama and his supporters are the whiniest bunch of whining whiners ever in the history of the human race. How dare anyone ask Saint Obama a tough question, they obviously are either Republican shills, racists if they are white, or uncle toms if they Black. Yes, they were tough questions. They were pointed. They brought up uncomfortable subjects. Wake up to scrutiny, something Hillary Clinton has taken for over 16 years.

Just like Hillary being asked the "first question" in the debates, huh? You really think the GOP doesn't have more to sling at her? She has way more baggage that will come up than Obama ever could. Plus, a majority of people see her for the dishonest person she is. No "straight talk" from her.

"Shame on you. Shame on you Barrack Obama"

"And the heavens opened up and a celestial choir singing..."

While tearing up:
"...and I have so many opportunities from this country. I just don't want to see us fall backwards"

No Hillary never whines at all. Yea right.

Bill Clinton is a liar. There's just no way around it. Senator Clinton has whined numerous times. Barack Obama never called her the "Senator from Punjab" (it was some lowly staffer).

Add these to the list.

The President is telling Obama to drop out.

He can't take on the gop.

Two reporters crushed with questions.

Drop out Obama.

Of course she wasn't whining, the moderators were playing the role of her and John McCain all at once, and she pretty much got a free ride.

Bsides, she got all the whining out of her system at the last couple debates.

You really gotta love that a couple can bitch about the media for an entire campaign, whine about how it is unfair, whine about how she is getting beat up on, and then as soon as EVERYONE but them acknowledge that a debate is bullshit, he says "if you don't want to play.."

What a hypocritical prick.

user-pic

I went to a Hillary fundraiser where Bill spoke last October. There, and elsewhere on TV at the time, I clearly remember him taking pains to say "I don't have anything bad to say about any of the other [Dem] candidates. I just think my wife would be better." Or words to that effect. Fair enough.

If he hadn't gone back on that implicit promise to talk issues, not character assassination, I would have respect for him today.

Biden, Dodd, Richardson et al showed that it is possible to debate issues with dignity and respect, and then to bow out with class when it's clear the voters have spoken. I hope the coming primary voters can bring the necessary closure; if not, I hope the supers can summon the political will to tell the Clintons "We bailed you out of impeachment a decade ago, we're not gonna bail you out again if you insist on tearing the party apart at the convention."

user-pic

And not one of the has endorsed Clinton.

Not only did they whine, someone from over there wanted to shoot somebody!

user-pic

Great link.

The President is telling Obama to drop out.

Thank you gotnolife... that's your nickname right? Anyways, keep your whining up. You are doing a heckuva job on.

I can't wait to get back in the Oral Office and get my dick cleaned. They say these new young interns are just so fine. So keep up the good work and I'll a box of Cuban Cigars that smell so good....

Love ya son.
Big Doggy that's been vetted. (wink)

Monte Cristo #2 please.

Oh, and throw in a bottle of Crown XR.

Thanks.

Not only the Clinton camp whine, someone from over there wanted to shoot somebody at some point!

Not only did the Clinton camp whine, someone from over there wanted to shoot somebody at some point!

Oops!

Did Lewinsky whine while the Blunt was inserted?

yeah, I'm pretty sure her campaign came up with that one a while ago.

Keep talking, Bill, please, keep talking. You are making life so easy for Stewart, Colbert, and Leno's writers...

user-pic

Imagine how pissed they'd be if they were on strike now?

Amazing to see all the whining coming from Obama supporters simply because he was asked a few tough questions. Hillary has been slimed repeatedly for the entire campaign by both the Obama campaign and the Obama loving media. The MSNBC debates were so totally kiss assing Obama I had to leave the room and puke a couple of times.
Obama and his supporters think it is great fun to advertise fundraiser rallies on the Obama for President website where they all get together and cheer wildly while one of thier media shills calls Hillary a F*cking Wh*re. That is when they are in thier hateful element of sexist hatred. Not when Saint Oilbama is asked a couple of tough questions, then they feel threatened and it is time for them to whine like little babies.

Dear dembillc;
I will admit both sides get carried away here-that is the nature of the beast. Hopefully we will all put this aside in a few weeks and get behind whoever our candidate is to save the Supreme Court from Scalia!

But I have a couple points to make with you:
1. If Hillary had Obama's charisma and good
judgment we would not be having this
conversation because Obama's window would
never have opened up.
2. If you are a progressive hopefully you will
come to see how awesome it is that Obama's
has such charisma that millions of student
aged voters are screaming for him. I have had
an analysis that the media has ignored for
the last few election cycles. I have
expressed for some time that when we can get
a candidate who can really turn on the young
people we will get the 3-4million NEW votes
required to finally turn around the
presidential elections. And now we have them!
Look-we all know that both 2000 & 2004 were
most probably illegally stolen. But had these
3-4 million NEW voters been in the process it
would never have been close enough that the
Rovian tactics could have pulled it off! So
when this is all over hopefully we will all
be glad that Obama inspires such passionate
loyalty.

Can any of us imagine how truly amazing and wonderful it would be to have a Supreme Court with a leader like William Brennen or Louis Brandeis again! THAT is one of the reasons I am so excited about Obama!!

David R. Wilbur, Esq.

Greg D.

Electability issues are different between the primaries and the general election. While there is still an increasingly remote chance that Obama might squeak through a win for the nomination he clearly has reached critical mass on electability issues that will doom him in the fall. I suspect that last night's debate may be a watershed event to out Obama as unelectable. As badly as he handled it last night, his comments today seal his fate as a loser.

Matthew
http://www.TheProblemWithObama.com

Absolutely, and how many super delegates Clinton picked up or is it on today?

Fine, fine, but all you are aiming to prove here is that Obama is not electable. It is a debatable point so I will concede it to you arguendo for the moment. What of Clinton's electability, however? That was my point. However little his electability, hers is even less. Why, then, should this issue even matter? It is, perhaps, the case that McCain is going to win regardless of whom we nominate, but there is just no plausible case remaining for the contention that we could defeat McCain if we ran Clinton but not if we ran Obama.

user-pic

LOL! Thanks for providing a chuckle at the end of the day!

"While there is still an increasingly remote chance that Clinton might squeak through a win . . . ."

Fixed!

From Fox News: "Obama later told the North Carolina crowd that the debate was good practice for the general election.

“If the Republicans come at me, I will come right back at them. You know — I’ll be honest with you … I’ll be honest with you — it’s a little harder to do with a fellow Democrat because you know, I’m trying to, you know, show some restraint. You know I won’t have this much restraint with the Republicans.”

_________

So we are to believe he let Hillary win last night because he is too noble to attack a fellow Democrat. I'm sure that will come as a surprise to "Annie Oakley". Hold that head high, Barry. Give us that long-suffering look.

He could have slapped her silly when Tuzla was brought up, but he didn't. I'd say that qualifies as 'restraint.'

Anyway, that debate was completely awful for both candidates. It was pure gotcha politics, and they didn't even ask any new questions when we got to issues.

Also, Charlie Gibson was pushing conservative talking points in the question about the capital gains tax.

Attacking Hillary doesn't help Obama in the general. He already won the primaries.

dembillc:

Amazing to see all the whining coming from Obama supporters simply because he was asked a few tough questions.

Really? You are amazed? Is that because you are out of touch with social movements? Or just willfully ignorant?

Obviously it is a great thing that his supporters care enough to raise a ruckus and trash ABC. It is sure sign that they won't let their candidate's obvious patriotism and love of country be questioned in the Fall.

That is H-U-G-E.

Note to all Obama supporters:

1) Keep raising your voices in anger.
2) Threaten a ABC/Disney boycott.
3) Give another $25 to Barack.

We are kicking ass and we are a force that will not go away. Not this election cycle. Not the next election cycle.

Well done folks.
You are making Barack proud.

Yep! about a 15,000 jump in contributers within 24 hours, onward to the 1.5 Million.

Does Bill not know of this thing we call YouTube?

How long before there is a video of his remarks followed by showing all the clips of her whining.

WHINING?!

She did nothing less that stand up straight, haul off, and bust a bottle on the bow of Battleship Hillary!

Picture an umbrella of nuclear-tipped bitch-slap, Tehran! She's found her Inner Amazon - and all steadfast athwart ABC's tabloid spit-wad peanut gallery.

(Don't know if the christening magnum was Krug Brut or Cold Duck... it was damn PASSION that mattered!)

So I guess this means Wall Street Chelsea's going to actually start answering questions from journalists? And maybe stop pretending that the fallout from little Bill's misadventures wasn't just a private matter?

user-pic

"Whining" is a favorite word of the far right. Bill must be hanging out with Rush and Sean.

user-pic

For all the people who say, oooh, so Obama got tough questions and now he's whining, I call bullshit.

A, he's not whining. And B, he didn't get tough questions. THAT'S THE PROBLEM.

Tough questions would be how do we get out of Iraq, how do we pass and pay for healthcare reform, how do we deal with foreclosures, how do we deal with the needs of returning vets, how do we restore the Constitution and civil liberties and habeas corpus, how do we restore America's standing in the world, how would strength the U.S. dollar, and on and on and on.

Those are tough questions that I would LOVE to see candidates get.

'Why don't you wear a flag pin?' is NOT a tough question. It is stupid, pathetic distraction from all the things that any person who cares about out country's future wants to hear.

If people are looking for an alternative network evening news to ABC, you should consider giving CBS a chance. Ms. Couric is getting much better, and Lara Logan is the best Foreign Correspondent in the business.

I switched this evening because I am not about to support Charlie Gibson.

CBS did report about Hillary's "screw 'em" comment about working class voters, back in 1995.

I would like to see CBS gain viewers at the expense of ABC.
In addition, why not support the notion of having at least one female anchor on the evening network news.

Give it a chance.

user-pic

We watched Deutsche Welle, followed by the bbc.

user-pic

bbc has a lot of female anchors.

user-pic

This is really chickenshit stuff from old Bill.

Compare and contrast -- Barack Obama sees the kind of questions that made up last night's "debate" as harmful to the country and the political process, no matter who they're directed at, and Bill sees them as something that has to come with the territory, and there's nothing to be done but put up with them.

Yeah, Bill, you had all kinds of wingnut crap thrown at you, and that sucks, but it doesn't mean that it's a good thing for it to happen to everyone. The only way we're going to get campaigns that are actually about things people care about is if voters and candidates refuse to go along.

Hillary was not wearing a flag pin, but yet the two elite white men did not ask her to justify her lack of lapel faux patriotism.

I guess white skin equals the American flag, so there is no need to plaster the flag on your attire. All the elite media types realize that nothing says Proud American like having white skin.

user-pic

Even better than that, liam...you see, white people's DNA is arranged in such a way that it actually resembles the American flag when viewed under a high-powered microscope...

Greg, Dean said it's time for superdelegates to decide now.

Good thing to post, no?

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/04/17/dean-i-need-a-decision-now/

Yowsa, that is big. Good catch. Surely this does deserve a mention on TPM EC.

user-pic

Thanks for the link. That's a big deal.

holy crap, shouldn't this be pretty big news? it is to me anyway!

user-pic

The doctor. With a Rx. Thank you Dr. Dean!

Has Bill Clinton gotten *anything* right during this campaign?
How about him whining after one debate that "the guys were all picking on the girl."
Now he's whining by claiming Obama supporters are whining?

HELLO?

Keep talking Bill, you're Barack's secret weapon (in burying your wife's chances for good)!

What whining? I didn't hear him whine at all?

If you want to talk about whining I'd like to direct you to exhibit A, which would be Hillary bitching about "always" (not always) being picked to answer the first question. That was it, she made a big fluff about that.

Exhibit B: "vast right-wing conspiracy" enough said.

Exhibit C: Both Clintons and their supporters constantly bitching about the media and how it is out to get them.

Just imagine for a second Hillary got the kinds of questions Obama got. She would have made the "why am I always picked first" crap look mild. Hell, she probably would have walked out as soon as she got accused of being friends with terrorists. Of course she was fine with the debate, didn't Bill hear Obama? She was in her element, that kind of shit is her comfort zone, at least when it is all directed at her opponent.

Bill is such an idiot. I'm going to take so much pleasure in her concession speech, if she even makes one.

A debate is not everything. Also, I think the reason Obama is even talking about the debate is because the American people are talking about it and are so angry they are finally going straight to the Mainstream Media. It became an issue, Obama didn't make it an issue. Obviously the people spoke (atleast thousands did) at what they correctly percieved as media bias and conflict of interest. As an Obama supporter I am happily surprised. The American people can't be as hoodwinked so easily anymore- we've been through alot.

Senile Bill IS EXCELLENT NEWS!! FOR HILLARY!!!

awesomeness.

user-pic

Your Excellency! The masses demand a Cabinet post for Idiotic!

Here's an example of how that big bad bully George Stephanopoulos picked on Barack Obama last night:

Speaking of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, his pastor, friend, spiritual adviser, "important mentor", inspirer of the title "Audacity of Hope", baptizer of his children and former (until the scandal broke) member of the Obama campaign's religious advisory council, Obama said, "And, you know, the notion that somehow that the American people are going to be distracted once again by comments not made by me, but somebody who is associated with me that I have disowned, I think doesn't give the American people enough credit."

Disowned? Wait a minute. On March 18th Obama stood right there in Philadelphia in that same auditorium and said, "I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother," whom he went on to describe as a racist.

So Stephanopolous asked, "You’ve disowned him?"

Looking taken aback Obama replied, "The comments, comments that I’ve disowned."

Well, there you are. Obama should have gotten right up that instant and walked out of that theater with his head held high and proud. But he stayed for the sake of the American people and bore the smites and blows. [Switch to a scene of the crucifiction.]

user-pic

fwap fwap fwap fwap....

So, Otto, you've agreed with everything your parents, siblings, friends, significant others, and business associates have said over the years? And you've disowned and cut off contact with any and all of them who have said things you didn't agree with or that might have even been inflammatory?

Didn't think so. Fucking hypocrite.

On an issue of substance that a lot of people care about, here is what Senator Obama said:

MR. STEPHANOPOULOS: Senator Obama, last May we talked about affirmative action, ad you said at the time that affluent African Americans like your daughters should probably be treated as pretty advantaged when they apply to college, and that poor white children -- kids -- should get special consideration, affirmative action.

So, as president, how specifically would you recommend changing affirmative action policies so that affluent African Americans are not given advantages, and poor, less affluent whites are?

SENATOR OBAMA: Well, I think that the basic principle that should guide discussions not just on affirmative action but how we are admitting young people to college generally is, how do we make sure that we're providing ladders of opportunity for people? How do we make sure that every child in America has a decent shot in pursuing their dreams?

And race is still a factor in our society. And I think that for universities and other institutions to say, you know, we're going to take into account the hardships that somebody has experienced because they're black or Latino or because they're women --

MR. STEPHANOPOULOS: Even if they're wealthy?

SENATOR OBAMA: I think that's something that they can take into account, but it can only be in the context of looking at the whole situation of the young person. So if they look at my child and they say, you know, Malia and Sasha, they've had a pretty good deal, then that shouldn't be factored in. On the other hand, if there's a young white person who has been working hard, struggling, and has overcome great odds, that's something that should be taken into account.

So I still believe in affirmative action as a means of overcoming both historic and potentially current discrimination, but I think that it can't be a quota system and it can't be something that is simply applied without looking at the whole person, whether that person is black or white or Hispanic, male or female.

What we want to do is make sure that people who have been locked out of opportunity are going to be able to walk through those doors of opportunity in the future.

The trolls are now the story:

"Their hatred of Bill and Hillary Clinton has become more important to them than Obama's chances of winning in November."

http://tomwatson.typepad.com/tom_watson/2008/04/the-small-d-dem.html

Sad and pathetic.

user-pic

You're projecting like the octoplex down at the mall....

?

You linked to a blog with a viewership of 3 (4 since I wasted my time checking your link) and say that we're the story???

Sad and pathetic indeed. There's an unwritten law that you have to at some point make sense.

You've broken it again.

Is Bill on crack?

LOL!!

user-pic

O Jenn, you're here:

have to hand it to Snuffleupagus.

Most people wouldn't be able to speak nearly as clearly or use such big words while having a mouth full of Republican penis.

Reason no. 794 why I like JennofArk so much and have for a long time.

:)

user-pic

thx, HusseinTenaX :)

I did follow up with a clarification that "a mouthful of Republican penis" would probably equal more than one penis...

user-pic

I honestly believe that Bill has pump-head.

People don't know about this because doctors are cute about things like this - they don't tell you that when you get a by-pass, there is a pretty good chance you will suffer diminished mental capacity to one extent or another.

He's clearly not on his game and hasn't been and I just can't help but believe that's what is wrong with him.

user-pic

I dunno, I think there's something Freudian going on, I speculated about this the other night (it would irresponsible not to speculate!!) It seems to me to be almost a passive-aggressive thing. I think it's not at all unlikely that he's such a towering narcissist that somewhere deep down he just can't abide the idea that Hillary will for the first time be the more powerful of the two, and he's letting it sabotage his desire to get back within easy reach of the levers of power.

Have to agree, and have some sympathy for poor old pump-head Bill.

Hey Bimbo Bill! Define Whining. You claim that you do not whine. The following says otherwise, so you can no longer "Suit Up" so instead just STFU you habitual lying libertine.

April 10, 2008 7:10 PM

ABC News' Sarah Amos and Eloise Harper Report: President Clinton, speaking in Boonville, Ind., revised history when he recounted his wife's recent flap discussing a trip she took to Bosnia in 1996. President Clinton's version had several inaccuracies and was slightly misleading.

President Clinton's described his wife's experience, saying, "There was a lot of fulminating because Hillary, one time late at night when she was exhausted, misstated and immediately apologized for it - what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995. Did y'all see all that. Oh, they blew it up. Let me just tell you." Clinton then criticized the press, saying, “You woulda thought, you know, that she'd robbed a bank the way they carried on about this. And some of them, when they're 60, they'll forget something when they're tired at 11:00 at night, too."

President Clinton's version of the story has several inaccuracies. Hillary Clinton actually made the exaggerated comments numerous times, including at an event in Dubuque, Iowa on Dec. 29th, in Waco, TX on Feb. 29th, and twice -- bright and early in the morning -- on March 17.

Sen. Clinton did not apologize, as Mr. Clinton asserted. His wife did say she had made a mistake and said that she had misspoken when describing the Bosnia incident.

Sen. Clinton also wasn't as quick with her apology as President Clinton may remember either. In fact, it took a week for her to eventually correct herself, first talking to the Philadelphia Inquirer editorial board on March 24 and again the following day in Greensboro, N.C.

President Clinton also indicated that his wife's trip took place in 1996 – when it fact it took place in 1995.

President Clinton then later in the evening told the story again in Jasper, Ind., saying the press was treating his wife like the Mata Hari. "She took a terrible beating in the press for a few days because she was exhausted at 11 o'clock at night and she started talking about Bosnia and she misstated the circumstances under which she landed in Bosnia. Did you all see all that? And oh, they acted like she was practically Mata Hari - like she was making up all this stuff."

user-pic
I think it's not at all unlikely that he's such a towering narcissist that somewhere deep down he just can't abide the idea that Hillary will for the first time be the more powerful of the two, and he's letting it sabotage his desire to get back within easy reach of the levers of power.

That was my first thought, and it reminded me so very much of our other dynasty, the Bushes. We've spent 8 years inside George's gigantic and furious Oedipal Complex.

Now we get to play "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolfe" with Bill and Hillary, in the reversed roles - she's the shot downing George and he's the bitchy Martha.

user-pic

...bitchy and promiscuous Martha, I should have said.

user-pic

I'm just curious about this, but since we're playing this tarred-by-association game, shouldn't someone ask Hillary about her long business partnership with convicted embezzler Webb Hubble? Has she denounced him and completely cut off all contact with him, and if not, why not?

"When I watched that debate last night, I got kinda tickled,"

The question is, who was doing the tickling?

user-pic

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whining....Um crying in a debate that you get the first question....Yes, that's real tough leadership when your looking to be the leader of the free world. Hillary standing there looking like Ronald McDonald in her get up salavating at the drivel that was comming from the moderators shows and exceptional toughness! Oh, and watching Msnbc today with Punk ass Joe and David defending these questions and calling them tough (spin) especially about how important relationships are, how in the world does knowone in the MSM bother reporting the ties George has or supposedly used to have Hillary, again especially after all the fallout from the debate?

This really is special. Hillary sits down with Melenscafe and they have a debate that pupits everything that say on Faux news! Coincidence.....I think not!

user-pic
Actually if you watch the video of that exchange Obama isn't whining. It is quite Hill-areous actually. I love the part where he brushes off his shoulder and the crowd goes nuts.

No shit? He brushed off his shoulder?

O my god - that is the coolest thing ever.

That's right. Barack Obama wasn't whining. He was in the groove. He was kicking ass. We're seeing this more and more from him. The absurdity thrown his way is just stoking the fire in his belly. The closer we get to November, the more unstoppable he'll be.

I can here it now though......He's brushing dirt off his shoulders....He's a rapper....I told you he was too black......Man, I wish Hillary would go home, he cant attack her the way he can attack a conservative!

user-pic

The news is worse than you think. He's already released his first rap album: Fear of a Barack Planet.

user-pic
I can here it now though......He's brushing dirt off his shoulders....He's a rapper...

O please, dude, chill - that was a way cool move.

He sure as shit was brushing dirt off his shoulder -

That just rocks hard.

Like I've been saying, I am SOOO looking forward to living the in the United States of SHAFT!!!

http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/04/dean-wants-a-decision-from-sup.php

from following joshuablog's post, linked above, and reading about Dean on CNN calling for superdelegates to start pledging now, and not wait till later, it'll be interesting to see who starts whining now.

who will be whining?

user-pic
Like I've been saying, I am SOOO looking forward to living the in the United States of SHAFT!!!

LOL!

I'd love to live the United States of Def Jam, but I'll take what I can get and Obama just made one of the class moves of all time.

I am so impressed.

KO is quoting this blog.

Poor guy is spinning himself silly.

He did a terrible job in his debate because he failed to ask your hero tough questions.

Sad.

Oh well, all his negatives are out there so lets see what the voters decide.

I am betting on Clinton.

I'll take that bet. How much? $1000? I'm not fucking around.

To win PA?

"I am betting on Clinton."

There's nothing there about Pennsylvania.

This is for the Democratic nomination.

But hilarious how you have to ask. So you'd take the bet for Pennsylvania, but not for the nomination. You've betrayed your true feeling regarding the viability of her candidacy. It makes your rhetoric appear all the more irrational.

The bet - $1000 that Barack Obama will win the Democratic nomination.

I open to negotiating it upward.

Thought so.

user-pic

You know, "gotalife", of all the posters here I find you the most entertaining.

You respond almost instantly to any new post, day or night. Yet one of your favorite shticks is to call others pathetic.

In fact, I think yours is likely the most inaccurate username on TPM.

user-pic

Jenn - remind me sometime to tell you my version of heaven.

It involves Tupac and no sleep.

:)

user-pic

I've been getting my groove on to the entire old P-Funk catalog lately.

Loose Booty....Loose Booty...

And I broke out the Chuck D thanks to that Fear of a Barack Planet I linked above.

Howard Dean has, apparently, had enough: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/04/17/dean-i-need-a-decision-now/

Think the debate prompted this?

user-pic
from following joshuablog's post, linked above, and reading about Dean on CNN calling for superdelegates to start pledging now, and not wait till later, it'll be interesting to see who starts whining now.

I just read that, too.

Howard Dean is someone else I really love.

I doubt that debatabacle made him very proud.

Im Chill Tina...Im worried about the exploitation.....Me, I wish he would do that all day...No need to tell me to chill!

user-pic

Well, my taste is all over the rap spectrum, and it's all I listen to, but I am a follower of Trick Daddy's words to live by: "I love aggressive music..."

So I generally crank up his "Let's Go" to get me started.

143 comments and only 3 recommendations. That has to be some kind or record.

Better?

It doesn't count when you have to be prompted to do it. Sorry...you lose...again.

user-pic
Im Chill Tina...Im worried about the exploitation.....Me, I wish he would do that all day...No need to tell me to chill!

I didn't mean to be no means, love. I just really want to savor that move right now without worrying about repercussions.

I know what you're saying. ;)

user-pic

You know, any of you who haven't seen this need to go check it out. Mister Leonard Pierce of Sadly, No! pretty expertly channeled last night's "debate" here several weeks ago.

I'm not one to pimp recommendations for my own posts, but really, everyone should see this. It's what the "dialogue" between Obama and his interrogators most resembled to me.

Thanks Tina, in my short time here(hope I havenet offended to many being the newbie) but I have come to value your posts...and am glad you understand. I worry about him doing things for the pundits to attack him with, me I have watched that clip about 30 times now.

I loved the way they kept pressing Obama last night to explain what had caused him to drop Rev. Wright from his campaign's opening event. Obama claims not to have ever heard any of Wright's most controversial remarks. But it also has been revealed that Obama knew enough about Wright that he decided to excluded Wright from the event. So what did he know about Wright? Could it be that he'd actually gotten to know his pastor and mentor during their twenty-year friendship? But Obama wouldn't say. Instead he just kept calling it a "distraction" and just kept ducking the question. Maybe McCain will get it out of him.

Keep beating that dead horse, Otto. Maybe someday it will get up and pull your plow again. You must have more hope than the whole Obama Nation.

user-pic

If you had been paying attention, he said Wright was asked to step down from taking a high profile at the campaign launch because of some remarks of his that had appeared in Rolling Stone, remarks that were nothing like the ones endlessly played on Youtube, but that could be taken by some as controversial, and that it was agreed by all parties that it would be best not to include him to keep the focus on the whole point of the event and avoid any temptations to petty distractions on the part of, well, people like you.

Seriously, dude, if you don't take some time out from yanking that thing you're going to need some kind of medicated cream...

HOLD UP BILL!!

It was during either the 19th or 20th debate, when Say Anything Hillary stopped the moderator at question #2 and asked why was she always asked to respond first before Obama. She whined and infered it was due to her gender.

What about SNL bullshit skit and Tina Fey's crap about "bitch is the new black".

I could go on and on about Clinton supporters who have whined non stop instead of realizing that MAYBE Hillary's bad press is her own doing.

user-pic
You know, any of you who haven't seen this need to go check it out. Mister Leonard Pierce of Sadly, No! pretty expertly channeled last night's "debate" here several weeks ago.

I love it!!!!!!!

I reminds me of the end of NWA's 100 Miles and Running - "Surprise, n***as!

I love it Jenn - it's brilliant. I'm still laughing.

user-pic
I could go on and on about Clinton supporters who have whined non stop instead of realizing that MAYBE Hillary's bad press is her own doing.

No no, you know very well the real reason for it all is that tool of endless oppression - the penis!!

sorry, there's a touch of that that I see once in awhile in some of the Clinton supporters.

sorry, there's a touch of that that I see once in awhile in some of the Clinton supporters.

******

ahhh, the oppressive evil penis made me do it.

I did the right thing, and fought for the office of the President of the United States during Bill Clinton's impeachment. But I nowadays deeply begrudge having been being forced into that fight by a political pissant who has embraced the GOP's philosophy of Rule or Ruin, that his wife be placated.

user-pic

Boy do I hear that a lot lately, and have I said it myself more than once.

I also loved the way Obama tried to get out of his guns and religion comment by calling guns and religion "wedge issues". Oops. And how he calls the wearing of a flag pin a "manufactured issue". Oops. Lots of voters love to wear flags.

Lots of voters love to wear flags.

Just not John McCain

Hillary either.

Otto: Fuck you. You're either a paid operative or a naive blowhard. Go ahead and copy-and-paste my inebriated response, here, as evidence that Obamaites or Obamaistas or whatever lame fucking ass nomenclature the campaign has passed down to you peons might be, the point stands: your candidate of choice is an embrassament to the Democratic party and to the United States.

Twist and spin and triangulate all you will: there's no getting around the fact that your candidate's spouse (a former president to boot) accepted literally near a million dollars to force a "free trade" agreement down our collective throats while your candidate herself had the fucking gall to accuse Senator Obama of being duplicitous. Grow up, get out, and shut up.

See you in January.

(The views expressed herein reflect those of PBR and Jack Daniels and not necessarily those of the Obama campaign. Unless, of course, you're a Bosnian sniper seeking peace in Northern Ireland.)

Drinking makes you an angry asshole?

Looks like you can't handle your liquor son.

Did you even pay attention to politics when President Clinton was in office?

I doubt it, you were probably still wetting your diapers.

How did ya like Shrillary admitting she lied about ducking sniper fire in Bosnia?
Lots of voters love liars.
Right?

Oh PLEASE none of the idiots questioning why Senator Obama didn't wear a lapel pin were wearing ones themselves. And, even the idiot bush doesn't wear a lapel pin. McWar the American hero doesn't wear a pin most of the times I see him.

lol..

Also, Obama supporters don't cry racism and sexism or favoritism. We also don't whine like HRC clan. If and when Obama miss steps he gets the slimy press he deserves.

Last night, Obama looked mad and tried his hardest not to step down to old politics.

The questions were stupid and did not give either candidate the opt to address real issues.

Why is it the media's job to ask questions because the republicans are going to ask these questions in general election. 52 minutes-- WTF?

Hey media, why not let the repubicans and Hillary raise these stupid issues as they seem fit.

LOL. Her actions keep backfiring so badly it's comical. I watching Bill whine at this moment on MSNBC.

Otto on his Clinton meds:

And how [sic] he calls the wearing of a flag pin a "manufactured issue". Oops. Lots of voters love to wear flags.

Nicely played Bl-Otto!
hic...
I got a tatoo,

of the flag on my ass...
And an American eagle inked on my penis...

Is that patriotic... or what?
Thanks for calling attention to the important fact that Obama the magic negro doesn't have...

Stencils of god or country on his person...

Yeah, lots - mostly over 65, always Republican, or else a salesman - when you see one of those things, boys and girls - run. Someone has one hand down your blouse or pants and the other on your wallet already.

Hil-liar-y husband is lying again. Didn't she complain about piling on in the debate in Philly the last time? Also, the debate before Ohio, didn't she whine about why were all the questions being posed to her first? Didn't she whine that the media was soft on Obama?

user-pic

If you're waiting for a Clinton supporter to admit anything like that, you're gonna wait a long time.

Look, I guess you don't get this, but the gravatar is enough - you make it hard enough for some of us out here. You start talking like that, and I may start stalking you.

I'm already fanning my face. Whew.

I cannot even feel the least bit contempt for Bill. Life has passed him by. He is the old boxer trying to snatch the glory once more. Yet we know he is not that boxer anymore. He is punch drunk and with each appearance in the ring his once revered acumen is now in stark contrast to a man clinging to what once was. In sports it was Ali that fit this melancholy bill I believe it is apt to see Bill in the same light. For that I am sad indeed.

Hope bong: coming to a drum circle near you!

If you're going to take from Stephen Colbert, you should credit him.

And it's "The Bong on Hope." It's funnier.

No.

Nice analogy. Only thing is, Ali was justified as they stole 3 years of his career in his prime. Knowone ever stole anything from Bill......Now Hillary and her entitled Presidential run,.....lol....Maybe your on to something........Nah, Obama earned it, just like Frasier did in the first fight.....lol

I'm praying on my hands and knees...please lordy, let PA vote for Obama on April 22 and put an end to this long evil hell called the democratic nomination process.

He was kinda hot last night, holding back the rage. Hope Michelle got lucky.

Frankly I think Obama was bored with the same old issues being hashed out....So was the public.

Excerpt from a terrific commentary.

In fact, George and Charlie made the FOX News Channel debates, with all of their Love American Style graphics and fire alarms and wacky fart sound effects, look like the goddamn Continental Congress.

I was just waiting for Charlie Gibson to hurl a fist full of lapel pins at Senator Obama while shouting, "Where's Natalie Holloway, Senator? Where?! Prove to me that you don't have her locked inside of your Silence of the Lambs dungeon, you pinhead!" Then Stephanopoulos with the inevitable, "Senator Clinton, do you think Senator Obama is more patriotic than the dreaded Bat Boy?"

user-pic

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was wonderful.

Breaking: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards to join the Colbert Report tonight.

Sean was thinking about that surgery Bill had a few years back...

Breaking gotalife is still looking for one

Bill Clinton was just happy that the NAFTA issue didn't come up. I mean, why would it in Pennsylvania right? That debate was such a set-up joke!

user-pic

The issue isn't only that the debate focused mostly on Obama or that it was "tough on Obama". That's fine with his supporters I'm sure. Obama should face tough questions as should all of the candidates. The question is what defines a tough question and when does one ask it?
And sure, some of these things would be brought up in the course of the campaign. But the main and damaging criticism here towards ABC is the stupidly vapid gotcha level of so many of the questions and the clear elitist approach on the part of two rich men entrusted with the opportunity for the rest of us to ask questions of those who will lead this nation.
It is so elitist on the part of these two country-club members at ABC to think that the American people don't want to hear/can't understand a reasoned and adult debate on substantive issues.
And that George thinks he knows these are the main issues that are on everyone's mind. Do people really only care if McCain was friendly with the blond lobbyist? That he likes to go to Vegas? Does it make him any less of a national hero if he does? The answer is No. Judge him on his record and his policies and his views and his bond with the public trust. Not on whether he has a good time in Vegas. the same for Obama and Clinton.
Yes these kinds of issues are the kinds of topics in the echo chamber of right wing talk radio and George’s good pal and future colleague Sean Hannity. And since George is clearly auditioning for a job with FOX, we're fed superficial flash points right out of a gossip magazine.
Next it will be Clinton and only her comments in 1995 about white working class people, V Foster, Pork futures, Monica, and all the old issues. And in the fall it will be about McCain and only about his supposed friendship with a blond lobbyist, his gambling/partying in Vegas, his lack of church attendance, and other important national "issues". All the while the security of the US will be at stake.
This was an example of two NYC and DC, country club & Palm restaurant going, Ritz Carelton staying, elites who wanted to figures out how to "talk at the level of" the American people and in the process proved to America that they're clueless about what "uninformed and simple people" are able or interested to hear. Or as Gibson apparently thinks, people making 200K dollars a year make an average salary...pathetic. ABC should be ashamed.
This is not a partisan issue or pro or anti-Obama. It's an example of elite media thinking that when they talk on "our simple tabloid level of politics" they can only talk about these stupid issues.
We are better than this. Both Republicans and Democrats are better and deserve better from those who have direct access to the candidates for the Presidency. We are people who want answers to real and difficult issues that will affect us directly. We have sons and daughters fighting for us, we have a health-care crisis; we have a dangerous Iraq, North Korea, and Iran that we need to address. And instead of taking most of the time to give us a detailed and adult debate that would really inform on these serious issues, George and Charlie focused on pathetic side issues that do not and should not be brought up in a debate like this regardless of the candidate or party.
And if this is allowed to become the norm in national debates, it will be vapid gotcha tabloid politics for the next few months for McCain and the GOP and the Democrat who wins the nomination. Will we as a nation be better informed as a result?
George should be fired and go back to work for his old boss. If it can be proven that he did in fact take guidance from another commentator (Hannity) at another network (FOX) he should lose his job simply out of laziness and incompetence. Maybe he was auditioning for a job with his old boss or FOX last night.

Great quote from Bill. As usual

Great quote from Bill. As usual
Sorry ass alma mater (Louisville? have they won anything anyone can remember?). Sorry ass candidate (yours). Sorry ass observation.

Strike three, you're out.

The media thinks they get to set the tone of the election and that was the justification for last night's questions. They need to find out that the people have the final say because if we don't tune in who are they talking to? Thanks for the tip about CBS. I'll give their news a try tomorrow. ABC is being boycotted in our home, and I hope in many others. The media needs to get over their sense of power over choosing our candidates.

ABC,the bastion of the liberal lift wing press seems to want everyone to hate both Democratic candidates.
Either of these two would make a better presnit than St.John, the much latter.

The Clintons and the beltway media clique treat the campaign as a fraternity hazing, with Obama in the role of the pledge. Rough him up. All the others went through it. Rite of passage, you know.

The voting public is not treated as a participant in this ritual; we just get to watch. Never mind trying to ascertain if the candidates are qualified to be president, let's just sling them around to see if they are tough enough to be part of the elite club.

Talk about out of touch.

HRC is the IRON ***** of Whiners!!!Nuff Said!!!

Interesting observation Bill...of course a less charitable observer than me might point out that Obama didn't cry after losing a state to Hillary.

BTW, wouldn't complaints about a "vast right-wing conspiracy" count as a whine too? Just asking...

Do the Clintons have absolutely no concept of how wildly hypocritical they are when they say shit like this? I mean these two are the f-ing royal family of complaining about the big bad media, and they didn't even have much cause to:

But when Obama has every reason to, and then doesn't even complain, he simply brushes it off (literally) and says this is a perfect example of the kind of politics he is running against, the kind that keeps us from focusing on the real issues, they accuse him of whining??? Yeah, this coming from the person who threw a small tantrum over being asked the first question in a debate. The hillpocrisy of it all is shocking:
