Pew Poll: Obama Up 10 Points Over Clinton

Here are the horse-race numbers from today's Pew Poll, as compared to the last poll from a month ago:

Obama 49% (+0)
Clinton 39% (-1)

The top-line results are something of an outlier compared to other polls that are out there — they mostly have the race essentially tied — but it's interesting to see that Pew has no significant movement since Hillary Clinton's March 4 comeback, not after the hits Obama took from the Jeremiah Wright controversy.

Also bear in mind, this poll was conducted after Obama's speech on race relations, which was intended to repair much of the Wright damage — but before Hillary's recent Bosnia controversies.

"How Hillary Clinton Got Blindsided"

Yipee!!!! Just what many of us predicted would happen after the speech.....

Gee, drove up her negatives. New, Bright, Shiny Politics, just like Rove advised!

See, there is this interesting thing about comebacks.

If you do not, in fact, manage to come back, it is not a comeback.

Hey Eric is it true that Obama won TX? Also given as how Hillary made that big stink about debates why has there not been anything on how she is declining a debate in NC?

It looks like more EXCELLENT! NEWS! for the Clinton campaign.

If you see the schedule for Friday, appearing in Mark Halperin's "The Page",Bill Clinton is slated to attend 7 events to Hillary's 4 and Obama's 2.
Apart from being a tribute to Bill Clinton's stamina, could it be a deliberate strategy on part of the Clinton campaign to send Bill out more often than Hillary-apart from being a far more exciting speaker than Hillary, he is a living testimonial to the economic progress of the Nineties. Therefore, he can send out subtle messages about bringing back the good times.

Bill is a true politician. He *loves* to campaign.

Hillary doesn't really like campaigning, it shows as well.

Disclaimer: not intended to be a slight. We've had other people get elected president who didn't like campaigning (Nixon).

THIS IS EXCELLENT NEWS!!!! FOR HILLARY!!!! HILLMENTUM!!!!

(in tribute)
-Not Idiotic

Sounds like Hillary's going to have to dodge some more sniper fire on her way to bringing peace to Northern Ireland before her kitchen sink strategy manages to change enough rules to win.

This hasn't been getting enough attention

Hillary wants Alan Greenspan on the commission to "fix" the mortgage crisis, even though she doesn't "Understand" what he says - at least he has a "calming" effect.

WOW

yes.. well my theory about Hillary's win in NH was Bill trash talking Obama heavily to women the weekend before and no one had an eye on him...
Now apparently he is out in full force running around and trying to get away with whatever he can.... but it is making me wonder just who is attached to getting back into the white house.

I believe their attachment to achieving the power of being in the white house again is also related to the right wing religious order they now belong to called "The Family' they meet in secret and in cells... segregated. they are a politically powerful organization and seek to amass power... so they must have a lot of friends on the right.... in addition to the democratic establishment loyals...

I am very relieved to see her numbers down so I won't worry about this religion thing so much...

Hillyay took Chelsea to Bosnia into 'sniper fire'.... the media didn't seem to think anything was strange about that... and they didn't challenger her ridiculous statement that whenever a place was too small or 'tto dangerous' for the president they would send the first lady.... what a crazy comment... she's sinking her own boat it seems...

*** Senator Bob Casey to Endorse Obama (PA)

http://www.philly.com/philly/news/nation_world/20080328_Bob_Casey_to_endorse_Obama__join_bus_tour.html

"Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey plans to endorse Sen. Barack Obama for president today in Pittsburgh, sending a message both to the state's primary voters and to undecided superdelegates who might decide the close race for the Democratic presidential nomination."

Good catch, thanks.

Krugman is about as unbiased as James Carville.

Even after giving the greatest speech since Lincoln's Second Inaugural Obama can't stop refining his position on Rev. Wright. Today on The View he says he would have left the church, but--gosh darn it, the wily old rascal up and retired on him! I wonder what was the last straw. Possibly the good reverend's December commentary on Italians looking down their "garlic noses". Oh, well, what's done is done. Time to get back to hope and change. It's a good thing the Republicans aren't going to touch this stuff.

well they tried to smear him with it for over a week straight and it did... about nothing. I guess people care more about what Obama is going to do about the war and the economy then what his pastor said. I just cant wait until the debates between McCain and Obama.

Ditto. Obama will crush mccain. It will be fascinating to watch. Notwithstanding all this nonsense from the clintons, I don't think mccain has a chance. All this garbage will be forgotten by november, I hope.

You're right. And its also a good thing the Republicans wouldn't have anything to bring up about Hillary Clinton. Not a thing. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

But, but, but...

REZKO!!!

Tonya Harding's, err, I mean, Hillary's negatives are going through the roof, which I guess is proof that if you start throwing shit, you wind up stinking to high heaven.

PBS Interview with Andrew Kohut

Obama rebounds after race speech JUDY WOODRUFF: Over the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, his former minister? ANDREW KOHUT: And there was a great outpouring of negative reaction, an extraordinary amount of attention to this. Fifty-one percent said they had heard a lot about Wright's sermons; 54 percent said they had heard a lot about Obama's speech; and you get 80 percent saying they'd heard something about these things. And this is the number one campaign event that we've seen in the news interest tracking that we've been doing over the past year. JUDY WOODRUFF: Number one? ANDREW KOHUT: Number one. No story, the red telephone, none of that stuff has resonated like the Reverend Wright sermons and Obama's response. JUDY WOODRUFF: Still, as you said, half the people said they haven't heard that much about it, but over 50 percent have heard a great deal. ANDREW KOHUT: A big number in a political poll. JUDY WOODRUFF: You also asked, Andy, about Senator Obama and how he was handling this controversy. ANDREW KOHUT: Yes, I think what this survey shows is that, as a consequence of the way he's handled it, his speech, he assured his own supporters: 84 percent of them said in that chart he did an excellent or good job. But significant numbers of his opponents' supporters, 43 percent of the Clinton people said he did an excellent or good job and 33 percent of the Republicans. Judy, when was the last time we heard 33 percent of Republicans saying something good about a Democratic candidate? .... Potential problems for Obama JUDY WOODRUFF: Do you see anything else, though, in these numbers that tell you how much of an issue this may be for him down the road, if he were to be the Democratic nominee?

ANDREW KOHUT: Well, we did a very in-depth look at how white Democrats view Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. And what we found is that Obama has a glowing image and a more positive image than Mrs. Clinton.

But the problem for Obama among white Democrats is that a significant number of them have social beliefs and attitudes that lead to a negative view of Obama.

Critics of Obama, people who have an unfavorable view of him, are inclined to say equal rights have been pushed too far, are inclined to say that they disapprove of interracial dating, and that immigrants threaten our culture. These are Obama's critics. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/politics/jan-june08/polls_03-27.html

In other words, poor white trash Republican voters
