NRSC Chairman: Republican Senate Victory "A Very Long Stretch"

Sen. John Ensign (R-NV), the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, admitted in an interview with The Hill that it's unlikely for the GOP to get regain a Senate majority. Ensign cited problems with fundraising and candidate recruitment, especially the failure get top candidates in key Democratic seats.

"There is no question that getting back in the majority now, because of some of the recruiting – some of these just terrific candidates that we wanted ended up not running – would be a very long stretch," said Ensign. "That’s the best way I can say it."

I guess they are accepting obama as the nominee. If clinton were the nominee, the republicans would be shooting to retake the senate and popping champagne corks.

I just wish the dem party establishment would get on board and shut the clintons' down now. The money being wasted in the clintons' losing effort to take on the republicans would be better spent in taking down mccain and growing the dem majorities in both houses of congress. Thanks again clintons for all your support and assistance to democratic causes. We appreciate it.

Man, major screw up in that post.

The sentence reading:

The money being wasted in the clintons' losing effort to take on the republicans would be better spent in taking down mccain and growing the dem majorities in both houses of congress.

Should read as follows:

The money being wasted in the clintons' losing effort would be better spent in taking down mccain and growing the dem majorities in both houses of congress.

I do know english, I think. Auf Wiedersehen.

The phrase "ice cube's chance in hell" comes to mind.

He should have elaborated on that though, because if Hillary is our nominee (somehow) they might have a much better shot at gaining some seats, or at least not losing any more.

"Ensign cited problems with fundraising...."

And even if they had good fundraising, those funds seem to mysteriously disappear from their bank account without a trace.

I used to be for shutting the Clintons down as well, but I've changed my view.

I still want them to lose, which they will, but the fact that we have more than 200,000 new voter registrations in PA with more than 70% of those being Dems is amazing. This race has created newly registered Democrats across the country who will vote this November. I live in Austin, Texas and having the Dem primary actually mean something here this year sent jolts of electricity throughout the party and that energy will remain.
