Hillary On Bosnia Screw-Up: "It Proves I'm Human, Which For Some Is A Revelation"
Hillary, at a press conference just now, concedes error on the whole Bosnia-sniper flap...
I just made a mistake. I had a different memory. My staff and others have all come together trying to sort out -- so I made a mistake. That happens. It proves I'm human, which for some is a revelation.
Also: In the wake of the Obama campaign releasing his tax returns today, Hillary now said at the presser that she hopes to release hers sometime next week.
More on the presser soon, including remarks she made about Wright.

Well since your Scientific, let me know what you think of these Obama lies?
Mr. Obama relayed a story of how his Kenyan father and his Kansan mother fell in love because of the tumult of Selma, but he was born in 1961, four years before the confrontation at Selma took place. When asked later, Mr. Obama clarified himself, saying: “I meant the whole civil rights movement.”
Several direct-mail pieces issued for Obama's primary campaign said he was a law professor at the University of Chicago. He is not. He is a senior lecturer (now on leave) at the school. In academia, there is a vast difference between the two titles. Details matter. ... ..
White House hopeful Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) was forced to revise a critical stump line of his on Saturday -- a flat declaration that lobbyists "won't work in my White House" after it turned out his own written plan says they could, with some restrictions. ... ..
Earlier this year, Obama sponsored an amendment in the Senate requiring lobbyists to disclose the candidates, leadership PACs, or political parties for whom they bundle. Obama's amendment would not, however, require candidates to release the names of their bundlers. What's more, although Obama's amendment was agreed to in the Senate by unanimous consent, the measure never become law as Obama seemed to suggest.
Immigration is a case in point for Obama, but not the only one. In 2007, after the first comprehensive immigration bill had died, the senators were back at it, and again, Obama was notably absent, staffers and senators said. At one meeting, three key negotiators recalled, he entered late and raised a number of questions about the bill's employment verification system. Kennedy and Specter both rebuked him, saying that the issue had already been resolved and that he was coming late to the discussion. Kennedy dressed him down, according to witnesses, and Obama left shortly thereafter.
"Senator Obama came in late, brought up issues that had been hashed and rehashed," Specter recalled. "He didn't stay long."
Just this week, as the financial markets were roiling in the wake of the Bear Stearns collapse, Obama made another claim that was greeted with disbelief in some corners of Capitol Hill. On March 13, Dodd, the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, and Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, unveiled legislative proposals to allow the Federal Housing Administration to guarantee new loans from banks willing to help homeowners in or approaching foreclosure.
...and we haven't even gotten back into all the ramblings on Obama and Rezko, or to the current status of Rev. Wright, where Obama said he hadn't heard his preacher's anti-American screeds, before he had to admit he had. As they say in blogworld... this one is still developing. However, unlike the other stories that the press shrugs off, Rev. Wright seems to be sticking. Something about it goes deeper than policies and politics, and Obama's team senses it, too.

My favorite is Barack Sr., the "goat herder" when his wife says he was a clerk in Nairobi when he got his scholarship.
Which version makes more sense?
Which version will Obama fans remember?
March 26, 2008 11:29 AM | Reply | Permalink
Obama's father was a goat herder in Kenya when he was young. It has been confirmed, by numerous people. He wasn't a goat herder his entire life, he just started out that way. Obama's point is that it is remarkeable that a man who was once a goat herder in Kenya could father a child that has a strong possibility of becoming the President of the US. Even those most hateful of Obama have got to realize that the odds of that happening are pretty small.
I support HRC, but I seem to spend most of my time around here defending Obama as well. Kind of sad.

He was a goat herder as a kid. (Maybe he delivered newspapers on his bike as well?) He was a clerk in Nairobi for 5 years when he got his fellowship to come to the US and study. But all I kept hearing was how this goat herder got a scholarship.

I seriously think Hillary is a mentally deranged woman unfit to be a President of the most powerful country. All her bad moments
1. Just found my voice
2. Ready on day one
3. Wright rants
4. Fixation on her pet health care project
5. CIC delusions
6. Repeated Bosnian lies despite contrary video proof.
7. Whining about media bias and Whining about being asked questions first
8. Lying about NAFTA
9. Paranoia about e-mails
10. Breaking agreed election rules and then blaming the opponent for it
11. Losing control over her campaign money and worse, her campaign itself
12. Appearing cordial with Obama on stage and then turning around next day with 'Shame on you' comments
I think that dirty dozen is proof enough to institutionalize her, pronto.

Yes. I keep forgetting whether or not I get shot at, too.
I also forgot that I didn't really bring peace to Ireland or Bosnia and had almost nothing to do with either one of them. I forgot that my former pastor has done dastardly things, and not just preached a controversial sermon. I forgot about my husband's philandering, too.
I had no trouble believing she was human. I have an even easier time believing she'll lie, cheat, or do anything else to get elected.

I hear John Kerry didn't earn his medals either....
Hillary in Ireland
In August 1999 the British Secretary for Northern Ireland, Mo Mowlam, told Ireland’s Talk Magazine:
Hillary is one of the essential reasons we’ve had 18 months of relative peace. Without her we would have no economic boom.
...
Hillary traveled to Northern Ireland seven times
between 1995 and 2004, and she was the only First Lady in American history to visit that blood-soaked country even once.
...In 1997 at the University of Ulster, County Antrim, Hillary delivered the first memorial lecture in memory of the recently deceased Belfast community worker, Mrs. Joyce McCartan, who had lost 18 relatives during the Troubles....
“I don’t know whether a Catholic or a Protestant
made this teapot. I don’t know whether a Catholic or a Protestant sold this teapot. I only know that this teapot serves me very well, and it
stands for all those conversations around those thousands of kitchen tables where mothers and fathers look at one another with despair,
because they cannot imagine the future will be any better for their children.” But this teapot also is on the kitchen table where mothers and fathers can look at one another and say: `We have to do
better. We cannot permit this to go on. We have to take a stand for our
children.’
...
A year later Hillary was back in Northern Ireland
lending her voice to the struggle for peace in a keynote speech to the
`Women in Democracy’ Vital Voices conference at an overflowing Waterfront Hall in Belfast. In the course of that speech she received two standing ovations from an audience that included: the wife of the First Minister, Daphne Trimble; the RUC Chief Constable, Ronnie Flanagan; the Sinn Fein leaders, Gerry Adams, Martin McGuinness and Pat
Doherty; Ulster Unionist representatives Jim Wilson and Peter Weir; the US ambassador to Ireland, Jean Kennedy Smith; and the Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Fair Employment Commission, Bob Cooper.
....

I guess I'd have to say I can't tell why they moved the ceremony -- assuming they did -- but I know you might move the first lady inside, even if the snipers had just been popping up now and then. Just saying what she says in the link could be true. She's not claiming there were snipers when she was there. Just talking about what she said previously.

How does she expect to call McCain out on his repeatedly conflating Sunni and Shiite militants? After all, they are both exhibiting some of the same propensity to repeatedly get certain easily verifiable fact outrageously wrong. Call them lies, call them regrettable inaccuracies, call them senior moments, it's becoming harder and harder to tell Hillary and McCain apart.

But the bottom line, from this unobjective viewer, is that I cannot believe anything Hillary says any more. too many "misstatements," unjustified character attacks, and too much of the usual gruel of identity politics and troughing out the pork to the pigs.
And too little vision.
Even a guy who admired both Hillary and Bill in the 90's can get fed up. I'm satiated and, finally, Clinton-fatigued. I think I understand what all the wingnuts have been saying for years. you mean the lord trimble who opposed the clinton administration's involvement in the peace process? that lord trimble?
Too bad, according to the NY Times that Gerry "Adams said the assessment of Mr. Trimble, his party’s historic adversary, was “not true.” In an interview with The Irish Times, he said Mrs. Clinton “played an important role in the peace process,” an assessment echoed by John Hume, leader of the mostly Catholic Social Democratic and Labour Party.
“I can state from firsthand experience that she played a positive role for over a decade in helping to bring peace to Northern Ireland,” Mr. Hume, who shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Mr. Trimble, said in a statement posted on Mrs. Clinton’s Web site. “In private she made countless calls and contacts, speaking to leaders and opinion makers on all sides, urging them to keep moving forward.”"

SIPRelay: Okay.
slinkerwink: I read your candidate's interview in the newspaper today but hearing Hillary Clinton attack Obama like that made me mad. How can she do that? It's an attack on my church! I belong to that faith, the united church of christ!
SIPRelay: What is the specific article?
slinkerwink: I'm mad! I am going to tell everyone I know to vote against Hillary.
SIPRelay: I do not know the specific article.
slinkerwink: She said she would leave the church if her pastor said stuff she didn't agree with. It's in the richard scaife owned newspaper
SIPRelay: So I can't really comment on anything, I don't know which article you're referring to.
slinkerwink: this is the same newspaper that attacked hillary Clinton for vince foster back in the 90s. I can't take Hillary Clinton's damaging the Democratic Party anymore. You can forget about my vote in the general election!
SIPRelay: OKayl.
SIPRelay: xxx Okay.
slinkerwink: tell Hillary she needs to drop out NOW.
SIPRelay: The thing is the Reverend Wright deal is she really does have a good point.
slinkerwink: no, she doesn't. I belong to that faith
SIPRelay: If the pastor is racist or anti-American, then having going to that church for more than 20 years
slinkerwink: I know the Trinity Church is nothing like that
SIPRelay: You should be able to figure out that you should go to another church.
slinkerwink: I have friends in Chicago. they go to that church. They're mad as hell about how three minute clips out of 10 years of videotaped sermons are being taken out of context. Your candidate Hillary invited Reverend Wright to the White House
SIPRelay: Well, the only thing that we know about the church is what we have heard from the media and other people.
slinkerwink: back in 1998
slinkerwink: It was fox news that pushed this, remember? they're the ones that went after the Clintons. so why would you take a video clip edited out of context at its word from fox news?
SIPRelay: It was in the 90s and Bill Clinton has meant tens of thousands of people.
slinkerwink: why are you repeating right-wing talking points? I used to support bill clinton
SIPRelay: There is a lot of situations where he is shaken hands with a million to 2 million people.
SIPRelay: It is impossible to know everything about the people that go to the White House.
slinkerwink: but I don't support him when he's race-baiting. Oh, please, Wright was invited TWICE to the White House
SIPRelay: However these comments were made in June and November of last year not 10 years ago
slinkerwink: If he was good enough for the white house back then. if he was good enough to have bill ask him for forgiveness for cheating on hillary....then why are they throwing reverend wright, a man they asked for forgiveness, under the bus?
SIPRelay: Hillary and Bill did not go to the church for 10 years.
slinkerwink: It's in the new york times article
slinkerwink: It's an attack on my faith
SIPRelay: It's a completely different story.
slinkerwink: IT's an attack on people of fait. no, it's not. You guys are attacking the black church. that's why you're losing african american votes. do you know the damage your candidate is doing to the democratic party?
SIPRelay: Well, I really can't comment beyond your opinion.
slinkerwink: she might as well become lieberman
slinkerwink: Of course you can't. What's your name?
SIPRelay: If you fill it was an attack on your faith, and we do apologize for that, because it wasn't meant to be like that
SIPRelay: . These comments were made by Reverend Wright. He is known to make comments like this quite often.
slinkerwink: It's how people in the United Church of Christ are taking it.
SIPRelay: We are stating the facts.
slinkerwink: They are taking it as an attack on their faith.
slinkerwink: THe facts you cite are based on a grossly misedited sound bite pushed by fox news.
slinkerwink: I'm glad you spoke to me.
SIPRelay: Well I can't comment on anything beyond that.
slinkerwink: I know the truth now and I will publish this relay conversation and share it with my friends in Pittsburgh. thank you for showing your true colors. You are no democrats.

Also none of this addresses what Marshall pointed out on the front page of TPM about her saying she was the first high-profile American to go in to Bosnia. Apparently the UN Ambassador, Secretary of Defense and her hubby the President weren't "high profile."

Well, Hillary, since you say millions of things every day and can't be expected to be accurate or even closely approximating reality in every single one of them, could you give us a rough idea of the reliability of your utterances? Maybe a percentage? I mean just how much of the millions of things you say every day should we just disregard as being absolute crap? Ten percent? Twenty? Fifty?
It's not quite as helpful as knowing exactly what things you're fabricating...oops, I mean 'misremembering'...but if we just had an idea how much of it is crap, maybe we could move this nomination process along a little more quickly. Whaddaya say?

I am not going to be too hard on Hillary Rambo Clinton for this episode of false memory recovery. It may be that she just had a "Senior moment" just like John McCain did about Iran training Al Qaeda. Neither one of them are all that young you know.
What I am really now worried about is that Hillary Rambo Clinton's Tuzla recollection will cause her to suffer from severe attacks of Imaginary Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, which would make her unable to cope with the 3.00AM ringing of her Imaginary Red Phone.
Imaginary Combat can lead to Imaginary long lasting Trauma.
Say some Imaginary Prayers for our Hillary Rambo Clinton the Heroine of Tuzla...., and I will ask Reverend Wright to do the same for her!!!

Dear twirling fartknocker, I will answer your request and may i say you have a very appropriate screen name for an Obama supporter.
If you're a church goer, it's likely you feel the same way. That's why Obama's pastor disaster is not going away, especially once we hit the general election. Blue collar workers don't get it. If a pastor is up at the pulpit screaming the "n" word, as well as the "US of KKK of A," you don't sit there and take it. You get up and walk out. If your pastor also has the unmitigated gall to blame the United States for 9/11, if you're an elected official and you continue your association with that person, you are likely to be identified with those anti-American comments. What part of this is so hard to figure out?
Obama supporters don't want to accept it, but that's what average Americans feels. Many just don't get why Barack Obama sat there and listened to the anti-American screeds of Rev. Wright. He still hasn't satisfactorily answered this question.

"...which for some is a revelation." See. She has a sense of humor.
As for the tax returns, last week she made clear that they would be out AT LEAST three days before the Pa. primaries. Earlier during some of the debates she said that they would be released by April 15th. The Obama camp is trying very hard to say that she is dragging her feet and has something to hide. So now she's hinting that the returns may be out next week. And of course Obama is going to slam her as much as he can until she releases them, and will examine them with a fine tooth comb in hopes of finding something damaging. And yet people stand up and scream when Hillary dares to comment on a major campaign controversy like the Jeremiah Wright flap. It all sounds to me like exactly what we should expect from a long campaign that is this close.

"it's because she says "millions of words every week."
Actually, she said she says a million words A DAY. That in itself is also a lie. Assuming she talks 10 hours a day, non-stop, to speak a million words she'd need to utter about 28 words per second. So she lies to explain her lies. Cool! I guess we can expect her to say she simply misspoke when she said that, too.

Let's review. She brought it up on Feb 29th. From prepared text. Sinbad was asked about the trip March 10th. He mentions the joke with the wife, daughter, guitar player and comedian. Hillary speaks about it at least twice on March 17th from prepared text...as if correcting Sinbad's retelling. Then, last night, Shary Alexander of CBS rebroadcast her piece.
Hillary is betting no one will call her out on this. The public is sure no one will.

Well first, most humans don't tell whoppers and the most unbelievable lies. That's not "human" or normal, that borders on psychotic. Second, it is just part of a continuous pattern. I still wouldn't one off this one based on the pattern of lies and deceit. However, if a normal person embellished a little, not dodging gunfire for God's sake, I would be willing to give a pass. Not on this whopper. I can't imagine a normal person "misremembering" dodging gunfire and feeling that their life was on the line, especially with her daughter along. That would have been in the headlines in 96. Maybe she should fess up that she was "embellishing" or something. I don't think this cuts it. Sorry clinton.

Stop and consider what has been revealed about Hillary through her Bosnia Sniper story. She told a very vivid detailed story of how she ran through a sniper gauntlet. She even disputed Sinbad's version, which has since been proven to be true.
Hillary now says that she misspoke or got confused, or got it mixed up with some other sniper experience that she never endured either.
It now comes down to only one of two options: Either Hillary is lying or she is delusional.
If you give her the benefit of the doubt, then you have to conclude that she actually believed that the event actually happened as she described it.
We now know that it did not, so there is a reasonable chance that Hillary may actually not have a very firm grip on reality. In other words, she may be delusional.
Do you really want someone like that answering the Red Phone, and responding from a memory bank of false recollections, that she is convinced actually happened.
We are talking about the Commander in Chief position here folks, with all the awesome powers of War and Peace that position controls.
What if Hillary does not really have a firm grasp on reality. Her Bosnia Fairy Tale could lead reasonable people to conclude that might just be the case.

For somebody who chooses an interview with Richard Mellon Scaife, who 12 years ago was accusing her of complicity in the murder of Vince Foster, to end her 3 week silence on Jeremiah Wirght to launch an attack on Obama whose dual purpose was to stoke the Wright controversy a little more, and to get her major gaffe on the calculated embellishment of her Bosnia trip off the front page, she and her campaign, and her supporters, are hardly in a position to accuse her left wing critics of using GOP talking points to attack her. 3 months ago, this campaign was about a wealth of riches we democrats had, deciding between these two wonderful people. Then something happened to turn it into a deeply negative campaign that has Clinton supporters calling Obama unelectable and Obama supporters calling Clinton unelectable -- and that something was Hillary, in concert with Bill Clinton, Mark Penn and Howard Wolfson, deciding to do a Tonya Harding on Obama while conceding McCain's fitness to serve as President. A traitorous act, and one that richly deserves the enmity of democrats everywhere. She is unelectable, but even worse, she no longer deserves to be elected. Oh, I'll vote for her if this scorched earth strategy wins, but I seriously doubt my two duaghters will, and I seriously doubt she will get 80% african american support and, you know what, for once I wouldn't blame either of them for flipping her the bird, just like she is now to the entire democratic party. It literally makes me want to puke.

i find it almost comical (sad, but comical) that obama supporters like yourself don't seem to hear any of the hits on Hillary coming out of the obama campaign. where do you think you get most of your ammunition from to trash Hillary? not those high road guys axelrod and plouffe, right? or obama's foreign policy advisor, greg craig (i saw him on CNN yesterday with wolfie doing a hit job on Hillary and refusing to admit that obama has ever misspoken on the campaign trail -- even when wolfie gave him several examples.)

Hillary is running the most destructive campaign that I've ever witnessed a Democrat run in my entire life. They're doing their best to simply destroy anything they perceive as opposition at this point. They lost Richardson, and now Carville is more than happy to "define" him as some kind of traitor. A former General criticizes Bill Clinton for implying that Obama isn't patriotic, now a Republican Jewish group materializes and claims he's anti-Semitic.
I honestly don't see why Hillary still has defenders left around here. Every time I think she's hit rock bottem, she pulls out her pickax.

It now comes down to only one of two options: Either Obama is lying or he is delusional.

Yes copy and paste actually make sure you are quoting correctly and not making things up like-
I was dismayed at what I found when I read Obama's book "Dreams from My Father". Composite characters. Changed names. And reams of dialogue between Obama and other people that moves the narrative along but is an "approximation" of the actual conversation. Except for public figures and his family, it is impossible to know who is real and who is not. ... ..
Clearly Obama is very good at making things up as he goes along.

Is that DemBillC, or Dembecile? Tonya Harding strikes again.
Bottom line: This was not a slip of the tongue, or a minor exaggeration. This was prepared text on the subject of her experience, meant to underscore how important that PR event really was, a "big fish" lie that rips the heart out of her latest "main argument" in favor of her candidacy for the presidency, which was her supposed experience. She looks like a fool for starters, and her embellishments and repetitions prove a level of premeditation that makes it more than foolish and more like a really bad strategic judgment -- once again -- which is tantamount to political suicide. No wonder she tried to change the subject to wright today.
She's toast. Watch her poll numbers spiral down from here.

dembillc: Unless Obama said he was taking sniper shots while he was working on the Immigration Bill, it really isn't the same is it? There's a difference between a mild exaggeration on your resume and a large-scale, crazy-a** whopper. Her lie disrespects the soldiers who really do put their life in danger. Also, Kennedy endorsed Obama and in doing so mentioned Obama's input on the Immigration Bill was one of the things that had impressed him.

I don't understand what your problem with Dreams of My Father is. My son was required to read it in his literature class, and I read it also. Sure he uses composite characters and the conversations are not all word for word. I don't know of any biographical work that doesn't do the exact same thing. Is there anything in the book that is substantially untruthful?
Amazingly enough, for all the hype about Obama, there isn't really anyone from his past that has disputed any of the information in the book.
I think that Hillary probably over exaggerated her experience in Bosnia, but I certainly don't think it was a lie. I don't think any of the examples show Obama lying either, some might be considered an exaggeration as well. (I have no idea what you were talking about in the financial example, with Dodd submitting a bill) You seem to see a HUGE discrepancy in the honesty of Hillary vs Obama, to the point where you see everything Obama says as a lie. I don't think that is accurate and it probably isn't very healthy either.

She's a lying liar, I'm not connected to the media, and neither are the hundreds of thousands of others that know that lady pinocchio will tell a lie faster than her husband, Sir Pinocchio. Geez ken are you stoned, or just plain stupid enough to believe this load of crap that falls from the Clinton's mouths. I hope you are just stoned, I would hate to think you are that stupid man. Be a man, and drop the dead weight before you waste your vote.
