Dem Third Party Group Dumps $140,000 Into Anti-McCain Ads In Ohio

The Campaign To Defend America, a new pro-Democratic 501(c)(4) issue-advocacy group, is already previewing the Dem narrative against John McCain: That he's just the "McSame" as what we've gotten under Bush. The group is now running ads in Ohio with that "McSame" title on both TV and radio, according to FEC filings. We'll post a "McSame" ad as soon as we have it.

The Campaign's source of money for the ad: The Fund For America, a Democratic 527 group set up just for this election cycle. The Fund donated $400,000 to the Campaign, of which $141,073.06 has already been spent.

He may be more of the McSame, but he'd make a better Commander-in-Chief than Obama.

Sincerely,
Hillary Clinton

Thank goodness SOMEBODY is minding the store amidst all the intra-party bloodletting.

Darn, they should be running rezko ads.

user-pic

Maybe because it's unseasonably warm here today, and very grey, but I don't get your snark.

I think I temporarily caught rezko tourette's syndrome. When in doubt throw out his name. It was just an uncontrollable temporary lapse.

They must not have gotten the Hillary memo that we are supposed to be sabotaging our own party here. McCain is off limits.

user-pic

Glad to see this is happening.

With so many negative ads and bullshit coming out of the Clinton campaign, we need this. Otherwise, the only negative attacks voters going to hear in Ohio (A must-win state in November) will be about or likely nominee: Obama.

Darn, they should be running rezko ads.

You hillbots are pathetic and embarrassing. Maybe they should be running ads about the 12 year old girl Hillary attacked in order to defend a child molester while she was a court appointed attorney. That would be about as fair as attacking Obama over Rezko.

actually, it's more fair, because again it targets Hillary's judgement.

The problem with attacking her over this is because everyone is supposed to get a good legal defense, even indigent child molesters. It may not be pretty, but that's how our court system works. Attacking some over defending someone this way is unfair due to that.

On the other hand, I don't think most voters would share this nuanced view. If this became major news it would really hurt Hillary, and it probably will become major news if she gets the nomination.

Meanwhile, she's throwing everything she can make up at Obama, true or realistic or no. Legitimizing every line of attack for November. It's disgraceful.

I hope she does not get to be the Senate majority leader next year. Maybe Dodd could do it instead. It might happen if President Obama is in his corner.

Got it. It's a conditioning thing: discussion of anything related to the Democrats? Write "Rezko".

You left out the capital letters and all the exclamation points. The brainwashing hasn't entirely taken, has it?

user-pic

No, not quite. I'm in therapy right now. There is hope, since I didn't use all caps and exclamation points.

user-pic

Sorry I didn't catch your sarcasm earlier. Sad thing is, you did a believable impersonation of a Hilary supporter these days.

I don't understand this bit at all. Why are Democrats attacking McCain? Didn't Hillary just say that McCain is more qualified to be president than Obama?

The Democratic Party needs to wake up and listen to Hillary and Joe Lieberman. The biggest threat to Democrats is not John McCain. The biggest threat to Democrats is Barack Obama!

Back on topic:

Anyone else find it hilarious that the loophole McCain left in his campaign finance reform is what allows 527's to attack him?

user-pic

Yep. 527's are the worst thing for campaign finance "reform" anyway. All they have done is give a campaign the ability to do ridiculous attacks and then claim, "oops, I don't have any control over them." They can do what they want, nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Pathetic.

We need real major structural reforms in this country or we will be stuck in this slow bleed downward spiral forever.
